    I think challenge mode should give different tiers of rewards depending on your performance.
    No medal - 640 item
    Bronze - 650
    Silver - 660
    Gold - 670
    As it stands, getting gold in CM is harder than most bosses in Heroic Highmaul, so I think this would be more than fair. Furthermore, these items would have the possibility to roll even better secondaries than what would be possible in Highmaul loot tables, giving players high incentives to continue running them. Thoughts?

      @asmongold1341  Před 9 lety +2

      Danny Nguyen I like that idea, but I do think the best solution would be to implement another difficulty with epic level rewards

    • @Sheldonthesnail
      @Sheldonthesnail Před 9 lety

      I agree but cm's are a thing for gearing before raids come out, and to give 670 is too high of an Ilevel. No medal, no item. Bronze-630 Silver-640 Gold-655

      Sheldonthesnail gold is way harder than any hc boss, so 670 is fair imo.

    • @Jediskum
      @Jediskum Před 9 lety

      Sheldonthesnail CM's are not a thing for gearing before raids come out. while there is a stupid daily quest that does give you some terrible loot that is barely usable, that is not the purpose of CM's, the purpose is to have the more hardcore players compete with eachother in PVE, and for people to challenge themselves, CM's "were" Incredibly hard compared to any other PVE content, and dumbing it down to be a "pre-raid" thing when it is the only slightly challenging PVE part of the game is just silly. and considering you could buy BiS Gear from the auction house and black market before the first raid even came out, kinda challenges your point of Ilvl's. Lucky coin is a good example.

    • @Sheldonthesnail
      @Sheldonthesnail Před 9 lety

      Jediskum We were discussing the posiblity of them giving gear before raids as a preraid gearing system that undercuts something like raid finder which is directed at casuals. At no point did I state it was a form of gearing, I know what CM's are for and before you start talking to people about what they said you should read the entire conversation before you look like an idiot.

      @asmongold1341  Před 9 lety +8

      Shermingtan Why?

    • @Shermingtan
      @Shermingtan Před 9 lety +26

      Asmongold Professions have been gutted and do not feel fun anymore. Ability pruning makes most classes really boring to play and I miss a lot of the old falvour spells. Zones feels small and cramped compared to previous expansions, I guess this is because they designed the zones around treassures and trying to slow us down on ground mounts. From Vanilla to MoP I always loved riding around collecting herbs and ore, which is now pointless. I've not done a single archeaology digsite, too much of a pain and I used to love archy. There is no point for me to do heroic dungeons, too long of a queue with very little reward for the difficulty (would be less of a problem if I were in a guild I admit). There are no dailies anymore, I loved Thunder Isle, I loved Argent Tournament, I loved Operation Shieldwall, I loved the isle of quel'danas, I loved doing faction dailies all over Wotlk. Getting exalted with Sons of Hodir was insanely satisfying, now we kill 20000 nameless mobs in one area. And the apexis daily is the worst thing ever, so much grind and so many people.
      I loved my garrison for the first weeks, now I absolutely HATE it and don't even bother to pick up 3/4 of the stuff that is collecting dust. No flying makes me even more apathetic to leave my garrison, alt+tab during flight paths is not the immersion and savage world Blizzard promised us. I hate being gated and slowed down by everything. There are more reasons, but it's pointless to go on. Blizzard removed and gutted a lot of stuff without replacing it with something that's actually interesting. Now everything feels unrewarding and pointless, the apathy is real with this one. And it's not because I am burned out.
      This expansion feels very off to me, from zones to lore to music NOTHING catches and sucks me in. And this is the first time it happened, I enjoyed everything from Vanilla to MoP (even after 14 months of SoO) with varying degrees. Yes even cata had aspects that were cool, a lot of the zones were awesome, the questing was top notch for it's time and the dungeons were fun. Story and raids for the most part were shit though.

      @asmongold1341  Před 9 lety +13

      That's interesting, I agree with you in a lot of aspects, what we need to do is work together and come up with solutions, everyone has problems but if we can find solutions, maybe we can solve our problems (that's what solutions do) :P

      Asmongold I agree completely, I love WoW and it's universe and I want it to be around for another 10 years and the another 10 on top of that. So many great moments and experiences I had in WoW over the years, every time I visit Mulgore I get extreme nostalgia flashbacks and remember my noob days. I am glad I picked this game up and stuck with it for almost 10 years.
      I hope they can fix a lot of the issues in WoD and that players get the content they want no matter the playstyle.

    • @Valkris84KT
      @Valkris84KT Před 9 lety +1

      Shermingtan, Asmongold So much can be said here about what is, and what isn't good for WOD but I do agree with a lot of the positive/negatives you both are saying. I started playing WOW in alpha when I was 18, 1 full week and holyshit I was sold. Fast forward now 30yrs of age with job/gf/kid/bills/etc finding time to play WOW surprisingly pretty easy given my guild also are veteran adults so time isn't something I have issue with, however it's funny how WOD caters to my demographic more so now yet the young me still complains while relishing in the the good all days of neck bearding it up.
      The only real solution I can think of to fix both the gearing and profession issues I, and the rest of the community have is to just flat out remove the randomization process of the gear and instead separate all the functions that item could have gone through using most of the current professions, currency item, and daliy reward.
      JC-reinforce(rings/neck)to warforged
      BS-reinforce(plate only) to warforged
      LW-reinforce(leather/mail only) to warforged
      T-reinforce(cloth/back only) to warforged
      E-reinforce(trinkets only) to warforged
      This function would not only be in a max level crafter's hands(non garrison NPC) but you can gate it behind a new faction with actually objective daily's. Then for sockets even though I totally think I should be able to install sockets in ppl's gear I can also say this would just become the new gold making scheme of the week, so why not use those Apex shards and purchase them for a hefty price? This way ppl will grind for a real powerful upgrade(BOP) and this also lets you preplan that next big upgrade putting a little more power in our hands. I also feel like enchanters need something more, so instead of tertiary being on gear, let enchanters have them as the other gear slots not using a the main stat enchant and limited how many you can have of that stat or else we would just all use leech. Lastly weapons/offhands should come from raids, the way I see it after everything is said and done the biggest upgrade to your max output will always be a solid wep/off, so the incentive needs to be there if we are to remove this crappy random gear system.

    Very nice analysis man. I agree on almost everything you say. Especially the part where you talk about investment in gear and socializing. I've played since vanilla and to this day I remember what gear I had in vanilla. Every part felt like I earned it - epics felt like they were epic. ZG enchant on leggings and head were a lot of work, or even the +100 hp enchant you had to travel the world over.
    Many of these things gave you an edge towards other players (that were clueless or lazy). Being smart and talking to other people gave you an advantage over other people/opponents. It was a very rewarding system. This also applies to PVP, world PVP, farming, everything - if you knew people you had an advantage. Queueing with 10-15 players in BG gave you advantage (no idea why they reduced the number to 5); farming potions for BG or Raids gave you an advantage,
    I didn't quite understand the part where you talked about us getting older and not having as much time (which means the reward system shouldn't be AS hardcore as it used to be) - but at the same time you say you remember the first epics you got because you put a lot of time and effort in them. I personally feel that; if we don't have as much time as someone that is in highschool - too bad. People that put more time in the game should be more rewarded. Like you said the game shouldn't be a theme park for everyone.

    I think they should allow any alts you have on your account - over level 90 - to appear as followers in your garrison, so you could send them out on quests to help them level. When they're on missions though, they shouldn't be playable in the normal game (but their missions could be cancelled). If this was added, along with account-bound garrison, it'd be awesome :)

  • @SwedetasticGames
    @SwedetasticGames Před 9 lety +6

    Also, Asmon, the thing you said with the "being on a hamster wheel without end" thing, I want to know your opinion on a short idea here when it comes to mount farming.
    Start the droprate at something stupidly low, like 0,1%. Each kill of the boss per day if it is heroic increased dropchance by 0,1, so after 2 days it is 0,2% dropchance, 3 days 0,3% dropchance, and so on.
    For weekly lockouts, aka raids, start it at 0,1% aswell and increase it by 0,3% a kill. This would mean that the mounts would stay unique and achive-y, but you would actually have a carrot to follow and not just demoralizing, bullshitty RNG.
    What do you think of that idea?

    I think the daily challenge mode quest was an excellent idea but they really need to do more with it. I think the biggest problems with it was the fact that the gear was 100% random so you could do it from day 2 up until Highmaul and only get 4-5 pieces that are useful like I did, that it was only 1 per day, and that It now useless. I think it should scale with your raid progression like the garrison mission does (But not to the same degree, like maybe if you're progressing in Mythic It can give you heroic gear, just to replace those pieces that won't go away), there should be 3-4 daily challenge modes a day each for a different piece of gear and as the reward you can choose a piece of gear with any combination of stats, or you can choose a bag of goods that can contain items that give you warforged or gem sockets to your gear (Lets be real, tertiary stats are useless in comparison) or a metric fuckton of Augment runes. They should also continue to add dungeons through patches, like 2-3 to accompany with each raid so the final tally is between 13-16. I agree that LFR not give loot and I think normal should not exist, If you want to raid you start at Heroic. The flex and personal lock out systems are fucking amazing additions that Blizzard has added, with making gearing up for heroic Highmaul not require doing normal Highmaul through things like my Challenge mode suggestion (It should reward what Heroic is tuned for), pugging It would not be a problem and If it is than find a guild like everybody else, there are plenty of guilds that raid casual times and still clear acceptable amounts of content if you work full time and can't commit to a 3-4 day raid schedule. As for item upgrades, I think It was a good system but only for two upgrades, not 4, that shit was dumb and only existed because Seige lasted for a decade, finally I have to disagree about Gems & Enchants; giving everything an enchant and gem slot was just a pain in the ass, I fully agree with blizzard that It feels better to be able to equip most things as soon as you get them. Reforging was also only a problem and required the use of websites to do the work for you because of how hit caps and how haste break points used to work, with their removal I don't see why reforging shouldn't exist.

  • @Jonra1
    @Jonra1 Před 9 lety

    Just finished the video. It was really good, first I was really against flying, still am not too excited for it but have no problems with people getting it if they've done the things that having a flying mount would completely trivialize.
    Also agree with the loot in 5 man heroics and CM boxes. There's no reason for me to do them, minmaxing is nearly impossible and since you no longer are able to use tabards or things like that to grind rep for anything, there's really no point in returning there.
    My guild is quite inactive now, sure partially due to holidays, but also cause there's very little for most of them to do besides raids which we have three times a week. Many of the guys who leveled 5-8 characters to 90, haven't bothered to level more than one to 100, with rest as level 90-91 stuck in their garrisons.
    Only reason people tend to communicate outside of raids now is when they offer people a chance to join their Garrison invasion. There used to be CMs, but after a week or two of doing them and always getting shit that no one really wanted, there was no real point. We enjoyed the challenge a lot and liked to tackle it, but in the end there was no other reward. We could just as well wait for raids to open up.
    I just got my second character to 100 and am already bored. I am the main tank of my guild and am not really able to raid with two characters actively. My alt's progression pretty much grinded to a halt after I got 615+ Ilevel, unless I farm RNG heroics to pug normal/heroic HM. I play to have fun with good people who are competent players, so pugging with people I'll never see again is not really an option. I did my weekly LFR on the alt and now I am done, rest of the week I just log on to do the work orders, missions etc.
    I don't necessarily need to have something to do 24/7, but I'd like to have something interesting to whenever I log on. Now I don't have it even less so as the other people I play with don't even log on outside of raids cause they have nothing to do either. They log on for 1 hour per day, max, outside of raid nights. That's it for me that amount of gaming wouldn't even justify an active subscription.
    Overall I think it is potentially the best expansion so far, I've played since vanilla and after WOTLK I haven't really been hyped about anything until now, sad to see it go to waste.

    Great video and I agree with almost all of your points, but you absolutely hit the nail on the head from 33:00-36:00. Above everything else, THIS is what Blizz needs to hear and acknowledge. The D3 RNG system on gear right now is absolutely inexcusable. With the amount of time players invest in painfully boring heroic runs, stats on gear should be a sure thing. This expac has made min/maxers and anybody with even the slightest amount of OCD lose their fucking minds. We have no control over our toon anymore.
    With the current state of things, it pretty much goes like this: Ding 100, upgrade garrison and build a gladiator's sanctum, go to Ashran and spend 20 minutes farming about 1000 broken bones, spend the next couple days turning them in as work orders until you have enough pvp gear to bump your ilvl up to 615. Tear down the gladiator sanctum and build a trading post. Buy stacks of boar meat with resources from the trading post and sell them on the AH. Use the gold to buy your three pieces of i640 crafted shit, then go run LFR until you're blue in the face. Mix in some challenge modes and world bosses in the meantime, all while bypassing heroics.
    Obviously not the right way to go about it but it sure beats hours in heroic pugs with shit tanks and hunters who still can't control their pet after a decade of playing the game. Players will bust your balls for being in LFR in pvp gear but don't sweat it, you'll probably out DPS them anyway since hardly anybody knows how to play the toon they just boosted last week, because taking five minutes to tab out and look up their rotation on icy veins might make them miss their queue ;)

    This expansion has been a rollercoaster for me, the intro and leveling to 100 had most immersive story line and loved every single cut-scene, get to 100 and 2 days later i've never been just bored and not interested in anything, stopped doing apexis crystal farming few weeks ago and not even interested in leveling any alts. Before I've either went and geared as i could my main or start leveling my alt, for few days after got to 100 i just sat being bored and almost had no interest in the game, even though finally since leveling in vanilla i was actually really liking to level, but doing that on alt, NOPE.
    My opinion has been well button bloat maybe but they removed mostly stuff we didn't use, but think about one thing, usually in expansion they've always just added more spells (about 3-5 maybe) when leveling to new level cap, now they removed more then added and it's only random improved x spell (i've usually gotten on stuff i rarely use), like for fury warrior and think most classes, it's what 1 new ability (lvl 100 talent and maybe something changed in talent), now.. nothing or that's my guess why I haven't had interest in leveling, because they are pretty much like they were in Mists or at least rotation for damage.
    Sorry for wall of text and hopefully not badly spelled (if anyone read it)

    Gear gated behind reputations was one of the major complaints about MoP and Cata. I remember grinding rep for the Shattered Sun Offensive to get the shield at exalted and thought that was a chore. I remember getting quickly burned out on dailies that I had to do because I didn't want to let my raid down by not getting gear. I'd have dailies back but not have that same feeling of being required to do them.

  • @IamNemoN01

    SOME people will disagree with me on this; but many others will agree. Reagents, were good - like ammunition. Remember Symbol of Kings that Paladins needed to buy in order to cast Blessing of Kings? Or what about Light Feather used for mage levitate. I still have a full stack of Rune of Portals on my Mage, just for nostalgic purposes. Having to farm or collect reagents, gave people yet another small thing to do in the game. Blizz has slowly gotten rid of all those small things that kept us busy.
    And with all the time and resources they've spent on game-design, they could have redesigned and re-written our bag-bar. Instead of taking away reagents, they could have made a special reagent bag. For hunters they could have given them a bag for ammo, and another bag for pet food. Collecting pet food for Hunters was never an issue with me. Lack of bag space was the issue. Taking away food altogether took away yet another thing from the game that kept players busy.
    I also miss attunement quests and keys. When you and a friend (or five or ten) went to a dungeon, and someone asked "does anyone have the key?" and you could say "I have one." It made you feel like you had really achieved something. If you didn't have it, you made a note to go and get start the quest-line, which gave you something to do - and something meaningful, because getting that key meant you were opening up greater content. The same goes with attunements-and back in the old days you had to group with friends to get some attunements, and this encouraged grouping, team-play, and player interaction.

    I think the main issue is, say i started my first char on WoD Release, now when Highmaul was released the ilevel required was like 635, that was easy to obtain, i had done LOADS of heroic mode dungeons i had my 680 ring, i had a few warforged pieces and basically everything above 630, However, say i dont know i started late, or had a reason to change my character, When i get this to 100, the ilevel to enter normal Highmaul will be 645-650, the ilevel has increased as people became more geared and started wanting people of their own ilevel to clear faster, Now im stumped, my character will have a hard job getting himself to 650 ilevel without any capability to raid, With LFR This allows me to farm 640 gear, combined with my 680 Ring, It'll Push me so much closer to those sorta ilevels meaning i can then get into normals, im late i have no acihievement but i will be atleast considered. LFR holds a really good thing, however LFR imho, should be a Solo mode of the raid this way if someone LIKES to play ALONE they can still do it... Also prevents people laying back on it for "real raid experience"

    Great video, Asmongold.
    Something you didn't touch on is the fixed 20-man size for mythic content. Flex normal and heroic raids has been the bomb for many guilds, but going from 10 or 25-man mythic raid size to a fixed 20 is a major thorn in the side for guilds and raid teams out there who were doing mythic progression in previous expansions with groups of 10 people. Lots of people I knew during previous expansions were running 10-man raids, especially in Mists. Most of those people aren't doing mythic content right now because they don't want to raid with a large group of people and/or don't want to deal with the logistical work of the larger raid. In a nutshell, it's transformed the end-game mythic content into being more about logistical, impersonal work than about raiding enjoyment.
    Please make a video about this. I'm surprised you didn't talk about that in this video since it's given a lot of people and their guilds problems in Warlords.

    Let's see if I can summarize the points in this video.
    1. Opening week log in hassles and queue times.
    2. Pvp balance. Lack of foresight. (Avians Feather)
    3. Leveling bug or glitch.
    4. Ashran is fail. (needs a timed siege function and vehicles)
    5. No daily quests. (Firelands dailies were awesome)
    6. Players isolated in garrisons, should not have trade chat there. (Sense of community is gone.)
    7. Garrisons should be account level, not different garrisons for each character.
    8. Apexis crystals are worthless. Too expensive to buy things, not enough things to buy.
    9. World bosses don't drop anything worthwhile. No reason to go after them.
    10. No investment into gear, therefore gear feels shallow, not epic. (enchants and other customizing taken away.)
    11. Talent trees are shallow, need to go back to 100 point talent trees. Need more customization for characters. (but don't bring back reforging)?
    12. Gear made by professions have a time barrier to create them, not a variety of items.
    13. Compelled to do garrisons if you are a raider.
    14. Only 4 or 5 reputations to level, rewards are not very good. By the time you reached exalted, you probably wouldn't even need 640 gear even if they had it.
    Mounts are not very special looking.
    15. Pet battles don't have a lot to them.
    16. Rares can not be killed more than once.
    17. No flying is great, but it does get boring. (?) Should get flying in 6.2
    18. Game is too casual for its own good. Don't have to know people, just sit in queues.
    19. 5 man Heroics are unrewarding. Too much rng in getting gear. Demotivating and demoralizing when no end in sight to getting off hamster wheel.
    20. No progression, just repetition in pve. "You just get a magic box, and the magic box contains bullshit." - Asmongold 2014 (No control over gear.)
    21. People are growing out of the game. (Not really a problem with the game, but whatever)
    22. Too much ddosing in pvp, needs built in game chat. (Isn't there already one in the game?)
    23. Wow forums have only upvote or downvote functions, which effectively silences anyone that doesn't agree with the majority.
    24. LFR should not give loot.
    I think that is pretty much it, feel free to correct anything that is left out or is incorrect.

    World of casualcraft. I hated a lot of the things that came with warlords. I absolutely hate how they keep making the game more and more casual. The talent system change in cata was an absolute joke. It's stupid. The ability pruning in warlords was absolutely fucking pitiful. The ONLY thing doing stuff like that does is cut off options and skill for better players. Any fucking kid can get into wow and slam their face into the keyboard and do the deeps or do the heals. A good player not only makes up for bad players but does things for utility. Not just for topping charts. Utility is what makes a lot of good players good, and they just keep removing that and dumbing everything down. It's a fucking joke. I love wow, I always have but come the fuck on. It's annoying as fuck having to see it LITERALLY get dumbed down to the point where the game is an actual fucking joke. It's sad, really.

      I feel you man. Despite not being around since vanilla, I joined WoW in between BC and WotLK and I loved the game! When cata came I was like wtf is this shit? Who's the villain again? Completely forgetable. Shallow. And the talents... holy fuck I was mad and ranted about that for a whole week. That was the time I left the game. Came back to check Disney's Pandaria- I mean, Mists of Pandaria just to get disapppointed again and left for almost 3 years. Now, I come back and in 2 weeks I was kinda done with the garrison stuff, just repeating things and getting frustrated as hell with the shitty crafting system and the whole waiting game they've added.

      I'd agree. I'd like to see more class specific utility, and dungeon/raid encounters rely on things ... like pulling, and CC. Everything seems to be tank and spank, favoring AOE -- so every class has got to have AOE. The rogue wept. But, still, death from above is cool man. :-)

      @Keiriks93 Před 9 lety

      Yea having all those options but there were maybe 2 ways to go to be fully optimal, unless you're a casual that does nothing but 5 man content, in a serious raiding guild or high rated arena, you weren't allowed to just customize your character however you liked, there were cookie-cutter builds.

    • @florencep2209
      @florencep2209 Před 9 lety +4

      Old talent trees were mainly passive abilites or some meaningful talents that required 20-30 points in that talent tree and like 10 points on some specific, useless passive abilities. And many specs like Arcane were far from being diverse, having only about 3 active abilities, 1 of them the last talent of the tree and 2 of them (the first one included) being totally useless.
      I find the new talent system much better, because they finally do something with your gameplay. It's not just "x% crit chance" or ">important stat< increased by x", you choose between abilities that are changing how your spec plays.

    • @remyllebeau77
      @remyllebeau77 Před 9 lety +1

      Helgi Páll Eiríksson "there were cookie-cutter builds."
      So what? There is still "the best builds" as it is now.
      In some cases, classes are having to choose between talents, when we used to get both of the talents in the old system. (like the shadow priest fear and mind control)
      You could have 5 choices in each bracket and it still wouldn't feel as good as the old system. Mainly because of the lack of options. You can't sacrifice the top tier talents to get more lower talents.
      (Unfortunately in some cases it never would be viable to do so unless the top tier is made to be less crucial.)

    • @Keiriks93
      @Keiriks93 Před 9 lety +5

(for those who do not know, this achive is required for Glory of the Cataclysm Hero) and they say "Oh we got gamebreaking stuff to fix first!" how is not getting a mount from an achive, when you need to collect pretty much every mount in the game to get all mount achives, NOT GAME BREAKING!?

    I feel like one of the worst bits is the work orders specifically in the case of professions and the dwarven bunker. When I want to grind something, I like to do it all in one sitting, like for the insane title. Just knock it all out in one go. For my engineering goggles or my cool blackrock transmog I have to wait an absurd amount of time for no apparent reason. Its not like its challenging or hard or expensive. Why does it take weeks to get my goggles? What if they roll bad? I think eliminating the work order concept and moving in the direction of giving people the option to choose how much time it takes to complete something would help WOD in its current state. Also thanks Asmongold, love hearing your opinions and love your videos. Keep it up

    I agree with a lot of what you said. People may also feel like they *HAVE* to be in a guild to raid, which is complete utter bullshit! You don't! You can use the group finder and PuG normal and heroic raids, you only need a guild on your server *IF* you want to do mythic, which doesn't appeal to everyone anyway! I definitely think they need to add more reward to heroic dungeons as well, maybe like UBRS/LBRS was in Vanilla where they were practically small raids, add that as an option for heroics, and have them drop epics equal to the easiest raid difficulty at the time(so 655 now, 665 when Foundry comes out, etc) and that could be another way to get into the higher tiers of raiding, gives you variety on how you gear. Maybe give apexis more use than what there is right now. Maybe add in a NEW with a new rep that costs say 30k apexis and 10k gold + exalted with the rep or something like that.

    Here's an idea: they should add proving grounds for mechanics. not only dps, tank and/or healer, a proving ground where you can learn to, for example: move out of the fire (in several dificulties) fly through rings of fire, stay in a point for a couple seconds then move to another position as soon as posible, get out of an area after certain stacks of a debuff, multidot, learn to use defensive cds on specific ocations, learn to interrupt on cd and CC, switch targets. and the option to combine them and make them harder.
    i know pro players don't even care about this things, but it would be pretty good to make the new ones practice, learn and get better, without beign yelled at or kicked from pugs. Also, if they have their respective achievements to prove your capacity to handle the mechanic it would be easier for them to get in a group even without the specific ilvl or achievement (say like AotC imperator)

    Great video as always! In addition (IMO):
    I liked badge system, specifically around Wrath time. It was nice to be able to still run heroics and get updated gear via the badges. Give heroics and raid finder justice and raid (maybe challenge mode too) valor that reward the same ilvl gear that drops but no set bonuses.
    Another idea for raid finder would be having it be a random scaled old or new raid every week. Maybe exclude the 40 mans or split them up a little and it could reward justice like the idea above.
    A big problem I see is the elitist community. I remember when I started playing when I was 14 (2006) people were super helpful. When I see new people ask questions now, all I see is troll and 'are you kidding?' responses. I am not saying that you should pull people into progressive raiding that don't know what they are doing but when a tank in a random dungeon isn't doing the correct mechanic, educate him, don't shun him. It feels like everyone is trying to show that their dick is bigger than the next guys. Focus on going big dick, not showing big dick.

    Nice video! I don't necessarily agree with bringing item upgrades back. I think players who are raiding the highest difficulty benefit greater from item upgrades than players who are at an "average" progression rate (normal/heroic). If we drop 20kg on a normal item (which is almost required for groups), we are likely to replace it quickly when we go to heroic or even when we get a warforged piece.

  • @Jonathancowden1
    @Jonathancowden1 Před 9 lety

    I fully agree with 80% of your points and concerns you presented.
    Too many mounts to have any desire to collect them.
    Firelands dailies were amazing, I really liked the Argent Tournament from Wrath too. Garrisons are only terrible because you have to re-do it on all alts, they're open to trade chat, and they're required for progression.
    PvP is horrid.
    Ashran wasn't implemented properly.
    Not enough depth in the "specs" without talent trees. So what if there was 1 or 2 cookie cutter specs for raiding or pvp. What about having a second build for solo or just for fun?
    Gathering professions are ruined and crafting professions have become completely linear and controlled by time.
    Community is gone.
    Not enough uniqueness to classes and there is no personal progression quests such as with druid and warlock.
    I could go on, but my point is that I really feel like the game has lost it's soul and it bums me out. My sub has been canceled for 3 months now, and while it's not the first time I've taken a break, this is the only time I canceled due to being completely unhappy with the game as opposed to just burn out or being too busy with life outside the game.
    As much as I want to resub, I just can't get myself to give Blizzard any more of my money until the game feels the way it used to. I truly hope the developers are listening to the community. This is the first time in 10 years that I've seen so many disheartened veteran players. Something is wrong.

    Agree with your points on complexity. They made it extremely easy to get to the endgame content, but when you reach there, there is really no other way to progress apart from getting better copies of the same gear in H or M raids. Reforge/Upgrade/Gem/Enchants had both positive and negative effects on the game which makes it a very delicate part of the game to balance to cater to both casuals and invested players. I hope Blizzard finds a way to bring more 'enjoyable' complexity back into the game because if the next expansion heads down the same casual route then the game's probably going to go downhill due to a lack of meaningful progression in the end game.

    As far as the enchanting/gear investment argument goes, I believe that the change to a kill/loot/equip system was a positive change. I personally disliked having to worry about putting an enchant and gems on every item instead of equipping an awesome new piece of gear that you just won. I do however think the system of upgrading gear would be a good way to invest in your character more, and it would also give Apexis crystals a potential use besides mounts and pointless gear.

    Regarding 35:26, "you can never performer better than someone who gets lucky", the RNG factor. I hate it too. But Blizzard has been loving the RNG factor since MoP. Because you could see that with RPPM trinkets. There are still on Use trinkets and some trinkets with fixed CDs, but majority of the BiS trinkets are RPPM. And the person who gets lucky with the most procs does the most DPS (considering they have the same player skill). When we only had one use trinkets and trinkets with fixed procs, we were able to keep track of our trinkets CD and time our burst CDs with it and stuff, which made good players stand out more. Now, its just luck with RPPM trinket procs.

    As for the garrison, I ABSOLUTELY agree with the account-bound idea, I can't keep track of all these freakin missions, I work full-time and I feel like if I don't collect all my garrison stuff that I'm missing out on free materials and gold...I simply don't have an hour every. single. day. to log in and out repeatedly farming and upgrading, while doing something that isn't inherently fun.

    i totally agree on the talent tree stuff. I think to remember blizz said they changed it because there is more customization with the "new" talent to not have a generic go to build like you used to with the old 70 points talent tree. Every normal person realizes that this is a complete bullshit statement after seeing the "customization" now and comparing it to some of the earlier builds that were figured out.

    I had played WOW since Burning Crusade and had my best times in Wrath of the Lich King. As there is not much space in the comments I will compress it down to two major points, why I am not playing anymore:
    1. There is absolutely no social component anymore and no need to interact with other players:
    Back in "old times", yes, it was a lot of work finding a group for raiding or just for an instance, but that work was worth it. In those days addons were needed because the friendslist couldn't hold up so much friends, you had found. Nowadays, this work is replaced by a button (LFR and LFG). And best of all, if you wanted to farm a certain raid, most of the times you had to make your own group and look for other players.
    I can still remember, that random players where kicked from a group, because they had no mic and couldn't say anything on a TS server. Who is using TS anymore, if you're not out with your guild?
    2. There is nothing to do anymore:
    Oh my god, how much time I spent for fishing, just to have enough buffed food for raiding. Then looging to my alt for herbs for making flasks, just because my friends needed them as well. I also spent hours over hours farming tons of ores, just to have a bit of gold.
    On the other side, you HAD TO make your dailies for your professions, because the rewards had a value. Gem making made a lot of money and everything else was useful. The daily instance (for the emblems) and weekly raid quest was mandatory as well, and if everything was done, there where Wintergrasp or groups for raiding the main enemy cities to get this mount or other dailies or ....
    What's left today? I'm sitting in this garrison, unable to see any other players and professions are much worthless. There's not even the need to go out for farming, because you have everything in your garrison. Period. Nothing. And the auction house? What should I buy or what should I sell? Improving my char? No, it has only three buttons on his talents tree.
    If someone asked me, then please bring back things from the old days. People has to interact with other people and not forced to push a button and then beamed into a queue. I think the main reason, why so many played this game, was not the AAA+ graphics or everyday new content, no, it was because the friends played it and we want to be with our friends. I also want to work something. Farming, auctioning, and gear farming in instances and raids. Please drop epixx only in raids, no emblems or other currencies and remove this f....ing LFR tool.

The game has become homogenized completely, Again i agree with you about the talent system, it was fun to have some kind of weird tailored build for you to do unique things that you couldn't do otherwise. They like to keep you in a nice little circle of statistics and do not let anyone get outside of it now at all... They even took away the ability to pop nitros and burst of speed for a huge speed increase on rogues making engineering practically useless, they took the same ability away to stack nitros and flying serpent kick and burning rush/nitros for locks... Hell sometimes i cant even use burst of speed after i hit a nitros so whats the point when i can just spam burst of speed, you cant use your engineering glider a good 10 seconds after you use a roll on monks.... I mean sure i had plenty of fun in mop using a well timed serpent kick with a parachute at lvl 50ish to get a vast amount of distance but all these new restrictions make me cringe....why are they constantly taking these fun little aspects out, why why why... it barely had an effect on anyone!

    @IamNemoN01 Před 9 lety

    INSTANCING EVERYTHING also kills the game. When you ride through The Barrens, or Elwynn Forest, you see low level players questing. You see them doing their thing, you see them killing low level enemies, etcetera. If you're like me, sometimes you even /wave or say "hey" as you pass through, and sometimes you will even have a conversation with another player, simply because YOU SAW THEM, or they saw you. That is called PLAYER INTERACTION. But if all the low level Barrens quests were instances, and you had already finished the quest-line, you would not see anyone questing as you ride through-the zone would be devoid of other players (and yes, I would sometimes pass through on a riding mount, because it's more immersive). And the experience for the person questing in an instanced quest-zone is that they would only see other low level toons who are on the same level of the quest line-this cuts out EVERYONE above them. Elwynn Forest and The barrens would be even more lonely and barren than it is now, due to most of the players flying over you, rather than riding past you.
    This is how parts of MoP and WoD are currently set up. When you fly over several zones in MoP, or ride through them in WoD, there could be someone questing there which could encourage opportunities for player interactions; but you can't see one another, and so player interaction has been altogether killed.
    And I'm sure you've had this happen to you before: You ask a friend to join you to do something in a zone, and when they get there, they can't see you, because you finished the quest line there and they didn't. This has effectively KILLED group play, as this sends your friend away to do something else by them self, whereas you would have been playing together with your friend, had the zone not been instanced.
    When you go out in the world, you should always be able to see what other people are doing, even if they're below you on a quest-line. (If Blizz doesn't want other players to help on a particular fight, just program it so the first person who hits the NPC locks out the other player from interacting with it, doing damage, or healing you.) Being able to see what other players were doing, worked in the old days. When you had to kill an enemy, you may have gotten there to find he had already been killed, and you had to wait for him to re-spawn. We dealt with it. Most people were patient, and many were actually courteous (some were impatient jerks, but that's just life). And sometimes people grouped up and did the quest together. And sometimes conversations happened, and friend invites were sent out and accepted - sometimes you got a new guild-mate. Not all zones are instanced; but each one that IS, kills player interaction a little more.

    1. Make apexis crystal useful for more then just shitty gear that can almost be out geared by lfr
    2. bring back reforging or give us a way to change the stats we have on higher pieces of gear 655+
    3. profession need to be more useful other then just a daily quest
    4. more daily quests maybe 1 per zone that alternates + Apexis daily
    5. mythic difficulty for dungeons
    6. legendary weapons that must pass through each profession once (not that big of a deal but would like to see it added)
    This is how i would possible fix WoD for me

    What I really wish to see in future patches/expansions are reputations that adds lore. Just like there was in Krasarang (MoP), great quests and progression unique quest serie and also the Klaxxi reputation. The questing was kind of bad because it followed the path of other reputation, by that I mean too many quests to achieve daily, but to unlock access to unique quests is just awesome and very rewarding!
    And next, what I'd like to see is also reputation/questing zone following principles added as well at firelands (progressive daily quests) and isle of thunder (high level reward for pvp or pve, you choose everyday what's it gonna be).
    And for the challenge mode, why not make it more important? Challenge mode offers you every week a chance de gain an craftlike item that you can level up spending apexis! Problem solved for the lack of interest for apexis and the challenge mode!
    Other than that, great video, really inspiring just too bad not every voice can be heared. It is very hard to get attention in a good way if you cannot have access to US forums or if you can't directly get in touch with the developping team through twitter...

    First of all WoD is awesome. But all the issues you addressed are true (btw at 2400+ Arms Warriors have high representation, were just back to being dependent on our team since our self healing blows now)
    Garrisons are too much like a prison needs to be fixed. Itemezation is a headache, there are so many stats for certain classes that are just garbage.
    Most importantly though they need another 5 man difficulty. They could honestly just use the current CM difficulty. I was *loving* CM, for the first time since TBC I actually logged into voice coms and we laughed as we chain wiped in UBRS "Blizzard finally gave us the hard 5 man content we wanted." As you said though for all those trials and tribulations we get a random 640 piece that could be garbage, and with Highmaul out we no one even bothers with it.
    CM or an extra 5 man difficulty should definately drop better quality gear then LFR, because they are difficult 5 mans slackers can't be carried as easily therefore it pushes a players limits of their class.
    "LFR just shouldn't give loot" Lol I agree.
    I also think WoD professions were gutted because Blizzard intends to rework them in the future expansion. They have been criticized for being too archaic for awhile now.

    No No No. The Upgrade system had to go.
    In MoP:
    - Gets Item
    - Enchants
    - Reforge (I do want this back btw)
    - Upgrade
    - Gem
    - Transmog (Possibly)
    In WoD:
    - Gets Item
    - Sometimes Enchant (Not enchant on all slots)
    - Sometimes Gem
    - Transmog (Possibly)
    Why should someone have to spend weeks GETTING the item, for only another few WEEKS to get enough Valor and gold to upgrade gem and enchant it?
    I also think flying should only be back if:
    - You're level 100
    - You have got Draenor Explorer
    - You have got Draenor Loremaster
    - You have got 5k to buy it
    I also think that Daily Quests should be back
    Tabard system for rep should be back
    LFR SHOULD drop loot, but only Blue quality and Imo should be 620

    Clue Scrolls should be a thing.
    I think it would be fun, they don't even have to do anything with it, just straight up ctrl+c and ctrl+v Clue Scrolls from osrs.
    Like, you'll get a clue and it tells you that you need x items equipped and then you gotta do /dance at y location. Then some guy pops up and gives you another clue and after a few clues you'll get a casket with some loot in it.
    It would give people a reason to explore the world and it would give people something to do when they're just playing solo. Also it would make professions fun if you needed some sword equipped that you can only get from blacksmithing or maybe a robe from tailoring.

    • @DarknEssMGs
      @DarknEssMGs Před 8 lety

      +SteensRow The whole leveling experience is done solo. Legacy raids were MADE soloable. You get gold from garrison. Max profession loot can be done from profession lvl 1 and mats are acquired with garrison. Getting max PVP gear is easy and fast, just go to ashran, it's pretty much solo play because you have to meet zero expectations, pvp going on is basically NPCs doing their shit. Pet battles. Handout loot in form of LFR/garrison. Tanaan is solo play because all you need to do is tag.
      You require other people in 3 events - rated arenas/bgs, mythic raiding(especially with achievements) and people going for feats of strength eg world first. Everything else is solo play if you want it to be.
      What you don't understand is there's shitload of solo content but that's not enough for you because you want to get phat lootz solo that others can only get in a group. You can NEVER get best of both worlds. BiS loot/god rating is only for the elite because they commit to the game. Playing casually can only create casual rewards. I mean shit, i don't have mythic min/max gear because i don't want to go through the chore of hardcore raiding, yet i am unworthy of that gear for the very same reason.
      People that don't get time to gear get their catching up mechanics in the end of the expansion.
      This is an MMO, its done with multiplay as the core, communication is what made this game really enjoyable, if you want to play alone go play single players, if you want to play alone in wow there's a plethora of solo content, but don't expect blizzard to cater to your minority needs( you could also pay blizzard a large sum of money so they make solo content for you).

    • @lowanmoss
      @lowanmoss Před 8 lety

    99% of the problems in the game are because they fucked up the beta and rushed everything.
    character models: halfassed. They didn't even get all of the races done and the ones that are done have "same face syndrome"
    new zones: halfassed. 6.1 and we still don't have Tanaan Jungle. The zones get progressively worse after Shadowmoon/Frostfire because they never tested anything else.
    launch: halfassed. They didn't stress test worth shit, so the game was unplayable for the first week of launch.
    apexis crystals: halfassed. It costs too many crystals to get anything and most of the gear you can buy with them is shit. And after you get all the gear you want from them? Nothing else to use them for execpt one legendary quest part.
    ability pruning: halfassed. Shaman still have a million fucking buttons and warriors (especially arms) have less than 10 abilities that aren't talents, just to name a few mistakes they made.
    garrisons: halfassed. The only "choice" you get in your garrison is which of 2-3 slots you wanna put your building in. Everyone's garrisons look the same.
    I would have rather waited another 3 months for the game and had months worth of enjoyment instead of getting it early, playing it until I hit level 100, seeing the lack of anything fun to do, and then quitting again.

    • @DarknEssMGs
      @DarknEssMGs Před 8 lety

      +Michael Zarate Can you elaborate why LFR broke it? I mainly pvp so LFR is a way for me to go through content and be done with it, so really you're not losing a player because i wouldn't be raiding anyways. Loot there is complete garbage so you're pretty much forced to do heroics.
      Is it because people are not forced to play hard pve so they git gud? Because that would be a valid point for me.
      Or is it because people don't get to feel that sense of achievement going through something hard, watering down content and general gameplay in the process? That would be reasonable too.

    I've been in and out of WOW for 10 years. In order to make a game with broad appeal, it's got to have breadth and depth. I'm not what I consider hardcore, and by *hardcore*, I mean those who are geared up ready to kick Highmaul the day it opens. The ones who suck the marrow from every fiber of the game by week 4. The ones who power through levels 90-100 in the first hours, and then pester everyone to pound heroics until their eyes bleed. The ones who you know are going to burn out, and rage quit before your fully into raiding stride. That my friends, is the fanatic hard core WOW gamer. I think we remember nostalgically all the good things, and forget the frustrations of classic and expansions past. I was one of those people who almost gave up on General Drak dropping my dungeon set chest. I raided MC on every lock reset hoping the RNG would finally roll in my favor. No, I like much about WOD and how my effort is more justly rewarded. I'm not much for PVP, so I can't speak to balance issues, but as in the past tweaks will happen to re-balance; no doubt pissing off some dethroned gods, and bringing justice to others. I've played many other MMO, but then I thought about them in comparison, and with all the content in WOW, catering to every type of player and who wouldn't at least want to dabble in it?

    I've literally spent the majority of my free time over the past 10 years (with the exception of my last 2 years of high school during Cata) playing this game; it was like a drug to me. I remember the days when I would go to bed at 2 A.M. and wake up at 9 and sprint to my computer to start playing again.. cancelled my sub a couple months into WOD for the first time EVER. 10 years without cancelling, but WOD is just not fun enough to pay for, plain and simple. I sometimes get nostalgic and will fill the void by watching videos online, but recently decided to renew my sub via Game Token since it costs no real money.. I log in and TWO of my 80+ friends are online(at 8 PM EST), only one of them is actually in game. My guild of 700 people has 4 people online... The game is literally dead. It's entirely possible that it will be revived with a new expansion, but WOD is the worst thing that ever happened to this game; coming from someone who has been playing since LITERALLY 4 months after the game was released....

    If blizzard really wants to make a system that suits both casuals and the high end raiders they need to separate the gearing system between mythic which will have additional customization options like detailed in this video and the rest will be the current system of an rng fest for people who don't care as much. LFR having completely different gear is already in the game but it doesn't really concern mythic raiders.
