- Vintage Camera Lens Hunting in Dongmyo market in Seoul, South Korea. I really like vintage lenses and one of the best ways to find great deals is to go out and check the outdoor. Got a Mamiya Sekor 55mm f1.8 That is a pretty good find! Also found some Helios 44-2 lenses in good condition!

Dongmyo old folk market is located on the north side of Seoul. It is really busy especially on the weekends but you can drop by during the week too and you might get lucky with something.
I ended up getting the Mamiya Sekor 55mm 1.8 and a body for 10 dollars, which I ended up fixing up quite nicely.
I'm here to sell you an idea, the idea that photography is an art form which doesn't require the latest camera gear. I believe the most important aspect of photography is the person behind the camera learning to manipulate the light to take nice photos. It upsets me to see that the majority of photographic content revolves around getting people to buy the latest camera or lens, instead of actually making photographs.

I love these kinds of videos. Pick and Repair!
This is partly why I started learning to repair my own, I think I can save lot's of money over time :3
Lol never say " this is the lens i am looking for" in front of the seller ... :))
in france he will triple the price instantly !
But the " its broken and dusty inside" is always a good way to bargain.
I'll keep that in mind! I was able to clean the lens nicely and fix the aperture system, but missing the tools to make the aperture and focus smooth. But this is really fun, I think I'll go out hunting for lenses in these markets more.
Some fascinating finds there
Indeed, was surprised to find the cyclop Helios 40-2 at the end there
Good buy Noe: if it works Mamiya has very good lens with a lot of character
It seems so, can't wait to use it alot more in the daytime
I had no idea there was a market with so many old cameras and lenses! I need to stop by there. Really nice video man
+James Lucian I hope you’ll enjoy and let me know when you’re near :)
Really cool video! Been looking to get into portrait trying to find a smc pentax or maybe helios
Most people start with the Helios, it is a gateway lens =p
Wow i was watching the video then i recognized the voice french speaking person and here he is laurent caccia!!! It was really weird.
CZcams's multiverse!
Two of my favourite CZcamsrs in the same video! I'm a spoiled child :)
Ps: I am zahouda from Instagram we talked many times.
Oh, what a small world truly lol - he is a pretty cool guy, you might see him around more in my vids since he lives the next station over
Well that's good news:)
And dude i loved this video you should do more of it! Chasing lenses and analog cqmeras in flea markets
@@zahouda Haha moi aussi je regardais la vidéo en fond sonore et d'un seul coup je me suis dit "eh attends !"
Can't believe you did all this 3 years ago. Went there a couple of times last week and the market was really dry or overpriced
Ah thats too bad : /
I have that same Mamiya lens the 55 1.8 and I love it it’s an amazing underrated lens beautiful colors you get out of it like it more than the Takumars.
It seems so so far, can't wait to shoot it in some daylight : )
Noealz - Rain Photographer yeah man congratulations on the find.
More of these market strolls video's
Sometimes the language sounds like Blade Runner 1 hehehehe.
Thanks for sharing.
I think I might do more of these in the winter because during winter it is too cold to go out and making shooting videos :(
I have that 55 f1.8 with the chrome nose. Very surprising lens! I found it to be quite sharp and the background blur to be very pleasing.
I should do more of these hunting vids
@@Noealz definitely!
Today I learned from both you and Sir Robin that Seoul isn't really the best place for camera hunting... yes, you find a lot, but damn, those prices! That Praktica, I have three of those with the same lens from flea markets and ebay, never paid more than $20 (that's why I have three) :)
Right, Korea is a peninsula so it is cut off from the rest of the world practically, things cost a bit more but you can find some nice things
Do a complete lens repair video ;-)
I tried but the battery died before I stopped - it takes too long lol
As I said on Twitter, super you will love it. Please do comment on the adapter and the rear lens working or not...! It is important as I think it could break some cameras. A.,
I don't think you have to worry about it with this lens, the only ones you need to watch out for are the Canons and any lens with a bayonet mount - this one is pretty flat : ) But right DSLR users usually have to worry more about this kinda stuff
sold my mamiya 50mm f2, still quite possibly the sharpest lens i have ever adapted on my fuji X-T3.
btw, another underrated lens to look out for which i can find almost nothing about on CZcams or the internet are the fujicas -- so damn sharp. much like the mamiya, almost too sharp for many situations.
my other recent X-T3 favorite 50 on the street is the meyer optik gorlitz domiplan... 😭📸
I'm on the lookout for the Domiplan, luckily they are cheap online - but I have my eyes out for a decent fujinon also :)
Stick to Ebay you will find it much cheaper, a lot of those lenses had fungus and a real pain to take apart & clean especially if the lens was made in japan during the 70s all screws are sealed with lacquer and the screws are soft metal and can be easily be damaged etc.
I've only had trouble with these market lenses so far cleaning them :( But still came out great once I fixed it up!
So early 😄
I do my best to deliver : )
Oh wow is it your first time meeting Laurent?
yeah :) cool guy!

Which part of dongmyo is this? 🤔Have never come across these shops
all of it : )
I got the adapter you told me about so I can use my vintage lenses on my t2i. On a couple of the lenses when I start to focus the lens it takes a picture. What is causing this to happen?
That's really stange, to be honest that is the first time I have ever heard of that happening. Which lens are you using/
It happened with a couple of them I will check them out in the morning and let you know. How can I tell if the lens is interfering with the mirror?
Posted minutes after the Real Sir Robin lens hunting in Seoul...
Lol I saw but I was in a different area
This is much better ;-)
Love these market finds where camera's are piled up.
Looks like an orsm place to shop 🙃
It's hard to keep up with all the stuff all around you :3
Genre, @laurentcaccia t'a un 5d?????
I forgot to ask him :3
Noealz - Rain Photographer Anyway, thanks you when I travel to Seoul I go to some of your spots :)
@@Un.Breton.en.Vadrouille cool - I have videos of all the best spots to take pictures in : )
I should be here😁
maybe someday
