- How to care for an egg-bound chicken. When your hen is egg bound, your hen may appear weak, show no interest in moving or eating, have a "panting" respiratory rate, and may have some abdominal straining. One or both legs may appear lame due to the egg pressing on the nerves in the pelvis. Lila needs some taking care of.

I hope your chicken is doing better and that she is not getting picked on anymore after the re-introduction. I just wanted to say that I saw someone use a plastic tote to put their chicken in and they put her head through a hole they cut out in the lid. That way she could just sit there on her own and the owners didn't have to hold her for the 20 minutes. Maybe put on some nice music and it could be like a relaxing spa day. 🙂🐤
Lila is doing great. She was only pecked on that day. I saw the same video where someone used a plastic tote and that is a great idea. Makes it easy for the hen and myself. May have to try that.
Don't feel bad about soaking her. The magnesium in the epsom salt relaxes her too while it relaxes her muscles and adds moisture to help the egg come out.
a neighbor gave me her 3 hens and a rooster, the Rooster wanted to attack , what I did was got my welding gloves on and grab him and held him down for a minute or so... He's been a chicken ever since Pun intended.
They just jumped my girl Lila! Hope she is doing better.
This happens all the time someone introduces a new hen or re-introduce an old hen to the flock. They did jump her but it was only temporary. They are now a happy flock like before.
Do the silkie roosters crow like regular roosters?
They are not as loud but they love to crow too. And I have four Silkie roosters.

No, I don’t sell them. I eat the few that I get.
