Omid is very popular in the uk. He's an actor too and was in 'The Mummy'.
Yes And as a result Annabell has given him 3 children
And Gladiator
@@keefsmiff Apparently he had a very good time 😉
And in Borat.
And he's in The World is Not Enough. For about 6 seconds
he was born in London to Iranian parents who emigrated there
which technically makes him UKkranian we've all heard the joke-
He is one of the only comedians I know who has brought Sean lock to tears. In Sean Locks - TV Heaven Telly Hell
Not forgetting Joe Wilkinson on 8 out of ten cats reciting his “penises poem” 😂 Sean couldn’t breathe!
Omid is big here in the UK, very funny, even as his own game show here. There a lot more gigs out there he's done.
You pronounced his name correctly.
I'm a big fan of Omid he was born in London to Iranian parents. Love his comedy and have several DVDS of his and his autobiography Hopeful please do more reactions to Omid
Omid Djalili is one of the funniest comedians in Uk. He is a natural!❤
Let's not go nuts...
He does great piccalilli.
I didn't see 'Gladiator' in the cinema, so I only new Omid Djalili as a comedian/stand-up/panalist. He is funny, and then I was surprised to see him play such a good part in 'Gladiator'.
Yes we've heard of him :'D he's pretty well known
He's also got a really English accent too in real life 😆
Being English he would do...
@@rolybling don't play stupid, he literally puts on an accent and who's going to know he's English when they've just discovered him
Omid is hilarious and a total nutcase... that's why he is so admired. No one cares about his background, nationality or whatever.... he's just sooooo funny!! Live the guy!!😊
If nobody cares why do you mention it?
I mainly know Omid from the Mummy with Brendan Fraser. Great movie, and he had a comedic role in it.
How many Germans does it take to change a lightbulb?
One, of course. Any more would be an inefficient use of resources. Why would you ask such a question? Now, let us all get back to work.
I met Omid Djalili in the crowd watching Stewart Lee at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. He was laughing so loud! He really enjoyed the show.
It is what is called performance laughter. It's an attempt to get noticed, to distance himself from the "normal" audience. It is really irritating to sit close to one of these in the audience.
@@donepearce I completely disagree. He was borderline in a disguise to hide who he was. When I was taking my seat, I did a double take to see if it was actually him.
considering you never seen his stand up you did very well with the name pronunciation
Omid Djalili is a household name in the UK, has been for decades.
Is he fk. He's a has-been.
He also plays a great character Yusef Amir in GTA 4.
and in gta online right now
He had a whole TV series on the BBC. Was pretty funny from what I recall
Omid and "Achmed the dead terrorist" have never been seen in the same room at the same time
"Who's at the door, 44.?"
🤣🤣🤣
this guy is like matt berry, distinctive voice, found in a lot of voice overs everywhere!
Omid is great, daft as a brush!
His laugh is his signature thing.
Is it?
@@Hulks92 yes, when he started.
Omid is actualy English, born in London to Iranian Parents, he has a London accent but puts on his Iranian accent for comedy.
As you've guessed, he's British (of Iranian descent) - the Iranian accent is part of his act.
Told the Iranian business man joke "As If" and he died laughing!!!!😂😂😃😃😄😄😅😅
Omid is hilarious.😅 He is British/Iranian and very popular. (We are trying to watch reactions in-between The Euros ⚽ 😍)
Yes mate, thanks for checking him out man. And Thanks for the reaction 🙏👌
"chucking" him out?
Did you mean 'checking him out'
(or "disposing of" him?)
You mentioned Proximo, played by the late, great Oliver Reed. He was a well-known hellraiser and very talented actor that came to the fore in the 1960s. Known for his smouldering performances he could be menacing. On chat shows he could be unpredictable and outrageous. He sadly died during filming of 'Gladiator' so some of his scences needed to be completed using ready-shot footage + special effects.
I love Omid, he’s hilarious, he’s great in Gladiator, and his random Godzilla impressions always buckle me 😂
Omid's story about meeting Gwyneth Paltrow is the funniest thing I have ever heard in my life.
He's a class act, Love the Iranians here in the UK . Such a cultured, polite, knowledgeable people...and now funny! :)
I was fortunate to see Omid on the same bill as Al Murray at a free comedy club in West London, before either of them became famous. Have never laughed so much as I did that evening
6:08 for some reason this Godzilla bit had me in tears 😂😂
Yes we know who Omid is. He's a British comedian of Iranian parentage. He's been doing stand up since the mid 90's and is also a very well respected actor.
I personally love his wacky style, he reminds me a lot of Alexi Sayle an older school British comedian, with a very similar style and career path in TV and Movies.
He is a legend in comedy always funny
I did open mic nights with him many years ago. He was hilarious from the start and just got better. His opening line was: "When my father arrived in London he had just one pound in his pocket- just one pound... but it was good gear." (I'm still doing open mic nights, not being as good as Omid.)
He also hosts a British gameshow called The Winning Combination on the BBC King Boomer just so you know that too lol 😆 😂
I've seen him in the Mummy but not standup... That was friggin hilarious 🤣🤣🤣🤣👏
He’s a British comedian, really funny, been in many big films and has a clean British accent, no Iranian accent at all, he puts it on. 😂
I'm Australian and i've watched Omid's comedy for probably the past 2 decades. He's hilarious. He's also one of the Royals fav comedians, and has performed for them at a number of Royal Variety gigs.
And the "nutcase with the hook" was reference to a religious extremist we had in the UK who was given far too much coverage in the tabloids, and has since been deported👀😂😂💜
I saw him live a few years ago. I was crying with laughter the entire time!
Used to see him on the TV quite a lot in the UK - always a top performer.
I heard he gave up acting because he was sick of always playing stereotypes and then 9/11 made him not want to do comedy anymore, glad he changed his mind he's a great guy!
I kind of get where he was coming from he's incredibly clever and funny and did a lot to help Muslim integration in the UK but it was kind of hard to find anything about racial differences funny after so much death and destruction on both sides.
@ianjardine7324 he's not a Muslim. I have Iranian neighbours, and they aren't either. You haven't actually claimed he is, but it seems implied.
@@ncarter9193 I apologise for the bad phrasing I meant to highlight his comedy bridging the cultural gap between middle eastern immigrants and natives I shouldn't have picked Muslims as an example without clarifying it was lazy of me.
I love Omid. Don't watch the "Live at The Apollo" clip, because it's the same exact set.
Edit: I just remembered Omid chatting to Sean Lock on a show... TV Heaven & Hell, or something close. I think our resident Boomer Muppet would like that one. :)
Yeah, it's a shame really because his story about Ridley Scott getting angry at him is so good.
@@kylecs3586 Ah, I forgot about that. So true.
Omid is British of Iranian heritage. He's often on TV over here
That bandana makes him look like 90s Andre Agassi😄
Hes brilliant, hes been at the apollo a few times.
German comedian - Henning Wehn. So funny. But that is the only comedian from germany haha 😄 😆 🤣
Tom stade! Check him our KB!!! Amwrican who lives in the UK. Hes brilliantly funny
Don't forget Flula Borg!
To balance the books, maybe give Henning Wehn a try (I can't remember seeing you react to him). He's one of the minus two German comedians. Also greatly loved in Britain.
Omid Godzilla impressioms is in every routine he does.. He is a funny man.
yes, absolute legend, he's got some brilliant stuff - you'll love it
The 37 min 26 second video ''TV Heaven, Telly Hell - Omid Djalili.'' Sean Lock interviewing celebrities. Especially the 33.38 mark...
He also did the voice for a guy called Yusuf Amir in GTA IV The Ballad of Gay Tony, in gta online too. He plays the character amazingly.
Yeah I remember him, not seen much from him for years. Good to see.
I never realised how much of our UK comedy is quite random until watching Boomer react to it
He’s a brilliant Tv presenter too. He presents a Tv game show called Winning Combination.
He's also in Indiana Jones with the classic Rolls Royce.
No, that's Alexei Sayle.
He's also does the voice of Yusuf Amir in GTA IV The Ballad of Gay Tony.
I’ve been to see him a couple of times in London. He cracked me up
Yeah he’s very famous in the UK
I remember he played a character in GTA IV
Omid is a great stand up...also hosts a game show over here
He played a gig in my part of Wales and had a speeding ticket. 😅
This was probably prime Omid, he went through a period of being hugely popular to the point it helped him maintain a level of popularity to this day.
Not the most in demand but he'll sell out a 2000 capacity venue on his own quite easily.
Saw him live just after Covid as my boss who had the tickets couldn’t go. Pissed myself, so funny!
He's in the TV spinoff of Snatch. Also was in Lenny Henry's last comedy sketch show. Hes in the movie "The Infidel" aswell that was very good. Hes been in a lot of stuff, and his stand up is very good. Another person i recommend checking out is Kayvan Novak. Phone jacker and face jacker woukd be a good place to start.
Omid is my favourite stand up comedian, ever. I’ve seen him several times and he never disappoints. 😁
this guy is funny lol I remember you laughing at his chin stutter on black books xD and please do more JAM reactions for the love of god. Its so funny! theres an american guy that reacts to the whole thing on youtube i dont know why you dont do it and upload it. You'd be the 2nd American ever to attempt it
He’s brilliant, you need need to watch more of his stand up 👍
I got to see one of his shows in London and he is hilarious!
He was also in that episode of black books,he was the guy taking all the photos of Manny !
He was Brilliant on Never Mind The Buzzcocks
Originally from Iran very funny guy 🙌
Originally from London, born to Iranian parents though.
Loved this! Omid's a versatile legend 😅 Stand up, Gladiator, and a really good afternoon quiz show Winning Combination!
He did such a great interview on the graham Norton show.
Why hasn't King Boomer ever seen 'Mean Machine' it's basically our version of the American movie 'The Longest Yard' and it was made by Guy Richie's production company & has nearly all the stars of Snatch & Lock Stock in it, even this guy Omid is in it, it's perfect for this show to react too 🤟
As I mentioned Djalili's many movies last time and the short stand up clip. He's a big name in the UK and well known in Europe, but my favourite film with him, is a little known UK tv comedy movie, called "The Infidel", where he, as a muslim man findes out, that he's actually adopted and Jewish. A very funny and definitely not politically correct movie, with a lot of UK actors you like....
@King Boomer , Omid is very much British he was bornin London to Iranian parents . He has dozens of credits in big movies & was also a regular in an American sitcom Whoopi . But he's done plenty of stand up comedy too at the appollo .
I was getting to start thinking modern Uk comedians just ain’t funny = Richard Ayoade or just irritating = James Corden. Nice to see a guy that makes me laugh, like this dude, def watch him if he turns up again
He starred in the 80s show ,The young ones,,, anything he has done ive psosiblly seen. He is fab .
He was in Mamma Mia 2 especially in the credits
Omid is big in comedy here in the UK. He's great! 😅❤
Omid, is brilliant, more please!
He's great in Dickensian. I have got tickets to see him November in Newcastle.
Did you know two Englishmen drew up the Mason Dixon line? Check out two of my fellow 'Geordies' talking and singing about it here:
'Mark Knopfler plays Sailing to Philadelphia for Brian Johnson'
I love Omid. You should check out his show "No Agenda" for more stand-up. he also had a short live sketch show on the BBC, "The Omid Djalili show".
My favourite is stand up is Omid Djalili Live at the Palladium
He was also in Whoopi Goldberg's Sitcom, "Whoopi" I recently discovered 😃
He has been around , our Omid. Spreading that Persian , Baha'i Love wherever he goes 😄😅
I discovered the Baha'i Faith in 1997 and it changed my life. As far as any organised religion goes it welcomed me into the world of Spirituality after being an atheist for 5 years in my teens.
I know you probably aren't that interested in that side, Brian, but his humour makes sense to me because of what I know about people in general and Iranian Baha'is and their life and strife..
There has been terrible persecution, executions and killing happening to Baha'is at the hands of Islam for over a century now, but no one talks about it. Baha'is keep VERY QUIET about their religion.. with VERY good reason.
He has never really mentioned it over the years . I don't either, yet when the need arises the Teachings do need to come out.
(If anyone reads this and wants to know what I am talking about , let's start a thread 😅)
Omid's parents no doubt fled for their lives to live in safety in the UK.
He is a testament to being a Baha'i , the essence of love and being human.. and trying to laugh through adversity.
Iranians do have a very particular sense of humour that makes me howl in laughter !😂
You have to laugh at the bad stuff, right ?!
I have known two Omids, amongst my other Iranian friends through the Baha'i Faith, if nothing else they make amazing food and really know how to party 🥳🤩💃🏻🕺🏻
Great friends to have ❤
Omid has not been doing his act since the start of covid. Omid is very popular and has been in a lot of films, he is wonderful.
Omid has a London accent. He puts the Iranian accent on for the stand up shows...😅
Also i know him as a stand up act, but i first saw him in the Uk version of Mean Machine
He played the part of a slave trader in the movie Gladiator.
You need to watch him live, brilliant.
As a Brit, seeing him in Gladiator was a bit like you seeing Jim Carey in Titanic! Weird but he was still great.
Jim Carey in titanic? Oh man the potential in that idea!
I saw al Murray last night in Lincoln. It’s was great.
One of my favourite British Iranians. love the guy.
OMG absolutely adore Omid wish he did much more stand up but he’s such a good actor he doesn’t have the time!
He speaks with a British accent really .
Did u not watch the video 😮?
@@Christianlee14 I did but I made the comment before he dropped the Iranian accent !!
Heard of him?
I saw him live in February this year! He's currently touring :)
You now have to dig out TV Heaven, Telly Hell with Omid and Sean Lock. The whole episode is great, but Omid playing his imaginary bongos is one of the funniest things ever. Sean Lock killing himself laughing.
