Grand Theft Auto III is a 2001 action-adventure game developed by DMA Design and published by Rockstar Games. It is the first main entry in the Grand Theft Auto series since 1999's Grand Theft Auto 2. Set within the fictional Liberty City (loosely based on New York City), the story follows a silent protagonist, Claude, who, after being betrayed and left for dead by his girlfriend during a robbery, embarks on a quest for revenge that leads him to become entangled in a world of crime, drugs, gang warfare, and corruption. The game is played from a third-person perspective and its world is navigated on foot or by vehicle. The open world design lets players freely roam Liberty City, consisting of three main islands.

That’s called a remake and unless you want GTA VI in 2030 or something, you should be happy they weren’t working on a remake.
Also important note that the gameplay from the video is GTA 4 with graphics mods. Not even GTA 3.

I know this is heavily modded, but it's still seriously mind blowing how good GTAIV can look 15 years later
i think its gta V. Gta IV's police behaves in different way, crosshair is from V, police sirens say 'LSPD'. It would be really cool tho if IV's engine would be implemented here, more of Liberty City's atmosphere
I am pretty sure it is built on GTA5 but with gta4 map ported. You can see from walking animations and driving mechanics

May I ask on what sort of NASA PC the mod is running. You can't even run GTA 4 Vanila on 4K 60FPS on modern graphics cards.

damn, you can feel the love that the developers put into this mod
I consider it the pinnacle of craftsmanship. When you basically made a new game, because the models are made from scratch, new physics, new textures, light. But despite all this novelty, the spirit of the original is felt in it. You took all the details and saved them. It is incredibly.
And yet rockstar won’t even release a proper definitive edition

Yea. But at that time there were games with better graphics.
For example, the first game that comes to my mind is Max Payne 1.
Max Payne 1 was released 3 months before Gta 3. The graphics were better than Gta 3.
But this is likely due to the fact that Max Payne 1 is not open world.
It was a linear game. You know, linear games have more realistic graphics than open world games.
If we're being honest, Gta 3's graphics were okay for 2001. But it was definitely NOT breathtaking and realistic graphics for that time.
EDIT: Almost all of the Ps2 games had more realistic graphics than Gta 3.
This was due to Gta 3 being a very early open world game.
At that time, the Ps1 era had just ended.
@@Grim2 No it wasn't. Grand Theft Auto games were always considered "great games with bad graphics" before GTA 4 came out. Max Payne 1, Halo 1 and Splinter Cell came out around the same time and look at the difference in the quality of graphics.

now this one is actually put together almost immaculate and i feel has been thought out greatly unlike more than a majority of the other mods ive ever been recommended which is what i think makes this by far the best recreational gta mod ive seen yet, love gta 3

This is just a collection of mods and just used in game video recording, easy to do with an HDMI capture card that costs like $60 to $100 or so.

Feels like a love letter to gta 3 and gta 4. Great job! Only thing I would change is how shiny and reflective everything is. Ray tracing / screen space reflections = awesome, no doubt but using them comes with the danger of being too heavy handed.
In an official game release, it wouldn't be dialed up like this but I assume that could be due to this being made for youtube. The flashier the better for the clicks right?
Isn't it amazing how much it rains in newer games! (And after/during the game they can show off these glass-mirror-like reflective puddles).
It used to be a lot of sun and water when direct X9 came out years ago with all the cry-engine games and the flair and halo effects. Preferably on a tropical Island paradise.
But now it's doom and gloom in modern cities or industrial areas and with rain!
@@Magnus_Loov yeah, doom and gloom with glassy cars and puddles haha but to be fair the ps3 era was very doom and gloom with its art style, perhaps more than now with the drab colour palletes used.
@@NonsensicalReality Never owned a console. PC only (before that Ataris and AMigas). The years 2004-2010 were the lighter years. Almost overblown with "hdr" (the effect not true) too...

@@zerogamer935 I'm going to respectively disagree with that they could have Remastered not Remake, the whole Trilogy to have looked like Hellblade:senuas sacrifice, the character models and everything else due to the fact they used unreal Engine 4 to Remaster the Game at the end of the Day Rockstar took the Cheap way out, Granted for the whole trilogy to be actually Remastered this way it would have been any were from 200 to 300 Gigabytes on certain consoles and guess what to have a Beautiful near perfection Trilogy like that would not would not be easy or cheap to Format for mobile or other little devices the the game came out for which in conclusion means they would lose money.. my friend is a developer and told me yes for true Upscaled "Remasters" in native 4k 200 through 300 Gigabytes.. were talking over 100,000 different textures so yet again I stand by My statement "Fix".

The GTA3 music was so iconic and atmospheric, truly a masterpiece of musical perfection. It's sad that after GTA3 with the exception of GTA4, all the other games failed to deliver such musical expertise.
