- From writer/director/producer Gurinder Chadha (Bend It Like Beckham), Blinded by the Light is a joyful story of courage, love, hope, family and the unique ability of music to lift the human spirit. The film tells the story of Javed (Viveik Kalra), a British teen of Pakistani descent growing up in the town of Luton, England, in 1987.
Amidst the racial and economic turmoil of the times, he writes poetry as a means to escape the intolerance of his hometown and the inflexibility of his traditional father. But when a classmate introduces him to the music of Bruce Springsteen, Javed sees parallels to his working-class life in the powerful lyrics. As Javed discovers a cathartic outlet for his own pent-up dreams, he also begins to find the courage to express himself in his own unique voice.
This movie is highly underrated, I saw it twice in theaters.
Damn right! Excellent movie.
It was absolute shite
it was so fantastic + powerful
Lucky you, I only saw it once and I loved it. Unfortunally because it's not sone fucked up political correct film or a shocking festival award film it wasn't seen as it deserved.🎬
@@jamesfletcher5906go listen to nickelturd wanker!
The best scene in the movie. It gave me chills and a huge "feel good" vibe from it
Same here. Amazing scene.
I wish I could do something like that
I know, right!!
Same!
My heart was beating so hard during this scene
Born to Run is a masterpiece.
This scene is actually based on something that the real guy (who the film is based on) and his friend did. It wasn’t as dramatic as this but, without permission, they did actually put on a complete Springsteen live box set over the school’s radio station.
This movie really gave me a new appreciation for Springsteen
I watched this for the first time during an intercontinental night flight. I was so close to put it on speaker and start running down the aisle of the plane...
I'm not a big Springsteen fan, indian, or British. But I connected with this movie so much to the point where I say but at the beginning of the sentence no matter what lol
Javed not Indian he's Pakistani
This makes me feel like watching the whole scene over and over again!
@ BrianGriffin83. I’ve watched the scene over & over. The scene is a master piece...
The absolute joy of this particular track is why we listen to music. On a flight from Lisbon to San Francisco when I watched this film. Forever it will be a deeply moving flight.
I rewound this scene at least 6 times to watch and listen!
I love this film, needs more love and attention I feel.
Michael Brock me too.
I have yet to see it but want to badly
@@ronin120 Do you have Amazon Prime Video?
Caleb Clayton yeah. Is it on there?
@@ronin120 Yeah it is, at least it is in the UK
The thing I love about this movie is about the cultural clash, it actually perfectly represents me as a brown Sri Lankan kid born and raised in Paris, am I Sri Lankan? Am I french? What’s my place? Everything is in here..I don’t like Springsteen tho but the message is here
Did he really have a denim shirt under his denim jacket with matching blue denim pants?
I just love his style!! Probably my favorite part about the movie!
I love how after this scene when they're in the principal's office and she just goes "Promise really, really, hard, you'll never do it again" and that's it. And then when the DJ complains, she goes "C'mon, you were playing Tiffany!" Even she saw how pandering that guy was, loved it.
and she knows that tiffany ain't all that. she knows that THE BOSS is where it's at.
This a great true story that Springsteen's music changed this kid's life. When he grew up he wrote The book. Bruce loved this movie and held the premiere at Asbury Park. Bruce is my musical hero. The movie is on HBO now. Great movie.
Man... I love this scene. I felt amazing after.
Camden McInnis 0:47 me too.
The fact that they only got a slap on the wrist at the end of this scene made it even better
Whoever heard of someone getting in trouble for playing the Boss' music?
and the boy george wannabe is upset over his tiffany record and the principal is like "seriously? that? your taste in music sucks kid"
@@thevoid99She must've agreed that Springsteen was a better choice...😅
Favorite scene! I love how they're breaking through everyone just going theough life on autopilot and brining BIG VIBES everywhere they go!
Best clever movie I’ve seen in a while with the great music of Bruce Springsteen!
This scene made me want to get a girlfriend and have her and one of my friends run in the streets singing this song with me.
Omg same
Almost got hit today 😂. Although I don’t care they were like 1 foot away so I had plenty of time
i was running around my neighhood singing this song and the promise land. springsteen is the stuff. nowadays is rap
today's rap music is shit. bruce is real.
Love this film. Amazingly I only saw it twice
I wish me and my friends could do this we may get into trouble but it was worth it
It’s better to ask for forgiveness than ask for permission
This movie definitely deserved to be nominated for Best Picture imo
Brilliant scene..loved the film as a boss fan since 84
This film is just so beautiful. People can learn a lot from it.
Just watched the movie Sunday loved it so much best movie ever I wish I could watch it every day
This scene is so fun! It gives me happy good vibes. It’s crazy how much music can change someone’s life. It sure has changed mine
This film should have got a much better rating then what it got brilliant film seen in 3 times in 2020 and it seems to get better
Just watched this movie. Loved everything about it. Would highly recommend it.
The guy in the hat is a musical snob...Ha ha ha where are Bros and Curiosity now? Bruce still rules!
If we had them in my school they be heroes
0:27 - it is extremely unlikely that a person in their forties would have been listening to Bruce Springsteen back in the 80s.
They did! Its absolutely bloke music!!
They better make this movie in a Broadway musical when the pandemic is over I’d make the trip to New York City to see it. From the very far away place I live (26 miles ).
Absolutely love this movie!!!
One of the best films of the year alongside JOKER and TOY STORY 4. Funny, political, familial, and sometimes tear-inducing, this is powerful stuff.
This movie has a really nice, fun atmosphere
Bruce wasn't "What your Dad listens to" in 1987.
Born in the USA was released in 1984. The tour was selling out stadiums in 1985. Teenagers, college students, and people in their 20s were buying most of the tickets.
I'm a long time fan of Bruce Springsteen
To be fair the song came out in 1975, but still, that’s like nowadays saying Beyoncé is what your mom listens to because she was really popular in 2008.
My parents were actually
His fashion style is sooo me 😂
Tramps like us baby we were born to run Bruce Springsteen said it best
This movie is great
Great movie
BRUCE!!!
Not gonna lie but this made me tear up
The DJ was somewhat correct. Bruce was big in the mid-70s, then he had a huge comeback in '84 with Born in the USA and people my age (19 in 1984) became fans. Courtney Cox from friends is the girl he picked from the audience in the Dancing in the Dark music video.
Pure joy when watching this scene
As much as Javed's audacity is endearing, he could have compromised on a spotlight special on Springsteen.
I've been looking for the full song from the movie.
Jeez before Bruce we only had Derek and Clive which we used to act out on buses, cafes, the pub etc. Hilarious! We had a ton of fun with it.
I think..... I might just..... Cry!!! With joy!!!! 👶 we were 🤰to 👟👟👟👟 oooooooooo yeaaaaaahhhhh.
1:13 I noticed that Javed Khan wearing a Canadian tuxedo in all denim jacket, pants, and shirts.
That movie looks like a classic example of something being SO bad it’s good.
How warped is that reocrd
It’s a good thing that the kind of people who complain about “cultural appropriation” only try to put a stop to it when it happens in the other direction otherwise they would deem this entire movie “offensive”/“racist”. A glorious scene and wish the rest of it was on here.
can someone name everyone in this scene
Imagine this happen in anime.
1:21
The song gave it a feel good vibe, but their choreography and movement kinda ruined it for me
80s pop might be good, but relatable? I doubt that
and that deejay wears the worst clothes and his hat is stupid. he also needs to go to the dentist.
This film is really naff.
The most pathetic movie ever! 😂😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣🤣
