  • Ammar Ali Jan has a doctorate degree in History from the University of Cambridge. Ammar has taught at GC and PU. Recently, Ammar got into hot waters on Twitter for calling PTI a fascist party, and people questioned Ammar's meeting with Bilawal Bhutto last year.
Ammar comes on The Pakistan Experience to discuss that meeting, why he faced sedition charges and got picked up in the middle of the night, and how we views the future of communism in the world, and Pakistan.
The Pakistan Experience is a podcast looking to tell stories about Pakistan, and Pakistanis, through the lost art of conversation.

This is by far my favorite episode. You have shed light on various important issues but this is by far the most blatant depiction of the reality we are living in. Its most certainly a very ugly reality. I commend your efforts, efforts of Ammar Ali, and all those who are initiating the uncomfortable conversations.

Interesting discussion, specially the first part, anecdotes are often always more interesting than ideologies and philosophies, but hey what do I know. Good work on these podcasts Shehzad (just discovered these today!!), if Manzoor Pashteen is still active, why don't you have him on one of the podcasts? I'm a Pashtun myself but never really liked Manzoor and not entirely sure of his agenda. Having said that, calling anyone that demands some rights "a raw or foreign agent" seems to have become a norm in Pakistan and our brainwashed society at large acquiesces into this travesty by the state. Would be good to know his side of the story.

Sorry for asking this question so late but i feel like this conversation (so far 53 minute) is devoid of the discussion of productivity that capitalism brings and how the new solution you guys are offering will match that productivity? You referenced corona virus but IMO it is important to mention that it was the profit motive for big pharmas such that they produced the vaccine in such a short time period. or am I not seeing the complete picture here?

@@immasavagebro2845 Because he is simply another leftist hack as he conflates "capitalism" & "colonialism"?
Socialist USSR was invading & occupying countries.
Also from the historical context that communism & socialism has been the most murderous ideology throughout the 21st century & the practical implication, that it is inherently a totalitarian ideology where private trades & businesses cannot exist. In fact, private property is abolished altogether.
Most importantly, it is incompatible with Islam. The concept of private property is well established in Islam. Whereas communists believe in expropriation & abolishing private property. They refer to themselves as 'anti-capitalists'.
If you read the definitions of the word, "capitalist", "capitalism" & not arbitrary interpretations of some left wing hacks. Then you'll learn that Muhammad, Khadija & the Rashidun Caliphate were business owners. Hence, they were literally "capitalists" by definition.
This is a Islamic state & NOT a secular one. The people who want to keep it that way are the overwhelming majority.
In a true democracy, a minority simply does not matter at all. The left leaning & liberal bloc here couldn't even make up for 1% of the electorate.
This minority anti-Islamic bloc is absolutely irrelevant and the majority always has the choice to decimate it whenever it seems fit.

I am not referring to the democracy in the dev world, just look at our constitution.
To increase the inclusiveness, we have minority MPA,MNA and senators too, alll aimed at avoiding the majoritorian rule.
Besides, we have seats for women.
