    Hi, good vid though i don't know why you make band adjustment with no pump in. You can see the drum/ shaft move when you apply air. Have you thought about checking after you set the servo shaft length with the tool and pump in, also fit the 4th cover and snap then use dial indicator to cover see how much the cover moves in away from snap ring at rest. This is how I set my transmissions. I have found too long I won't get the snap in and if it just rolls in without force its dam near right.. Plus backyard builders would benefit with such knowledge. more than 1 way to skin a cat.

      @IrocinZ  Před 4 lety +1

      Yes they do. But using the tool in the factory method has never failed and very repeatable. Its just how I prefer to set them up... The principle is the same, not too loose it doesn't apply, and not too tight it burns up the band....

    • @IrocinZ
      @IrocinZ  Před 3 lety +1

      No, the spacer is to protect the aluminum of the servo from brinelling by spreading the load at contact. You still have to set the pin depth the same way...

    If that distance to the line is off would it cause a delayed shift between 2500 and 3000 rpm . I’m having a delay 3rd gear shift and holding a steady rpm at 3000 to get the shift to 3rd.

    • @IrocinZ
      @IrocinZ  Před 3 lety

      Not necessarily. It would cause more of a slip than anything. The delay can be more caused by a sticky valve or pressure issue or just the programming in the PCM/TCM.

    Hey I have a problem with my 2002 4l60e fresh rebuild but I don’t have a second gear it rev’s high in first shift straight to third and then shift to overdrive. I can’t mainly shift to second either it’s like it in neutral. I put a Corvette servo in it shifts faster still skip second.

    • @IrocinZ
      @IrocinZ  Před rokem +1

      If you have a check engine light, you need to diagnose that first. But I'd be looking at a shift solenoid or a missing/cut seal on the 2-4 Servo. The other possibility is the 3-2 downshift valve in the valvebody is in backwards or checkballs missing or in the wrong holes...

  • @jacobrusso9522
    @jacobrusso9522 Před 2 lety +1

    Thanks for the video.
    I just had a 700r4 rebuilt and what is happening is a delayed shift to 4th gear.
    I have adjusted the detent to where the trans shifts great in every gear, I get full throttle right as the cable bottoms out but 4th is sloppy to engage.
    If I pull it 1/8 or so more, the 4th gear engagement will be better but then I'm causing the other gears to shift later and I'm losing full throttle.
    What do you think?

    • @IrocinZ
      @IrocinZ  Před 2 lety

      Put a tighter spring in the 3-4 accumulator, which will require the valvebody to be dropped...

      @Irocin Z So my 3rd and 4th gears keep slipping. Is that something a corvette servo can fix or is the transmission going out? I can get up to speed. But as soon as I apply gas. It slips. Tried adjusting the TV cable too.

    Hello, I have a truck with a 700r4 transmission. I had a shop rebuild it two years ago but haven’t drove the truck until recently. I found that there was 2 issues. 1- the trans will not go into second gear, at all, ever, under any circumstances, it’s like 2 doesn’t exist. The other issue is I couldn’t hold 4th gear, I could shift into 4th on the highway but it would always kick into 3 with light throttle. I checked the Governor, it’s good and miss freely. I also checked the servo and found the seals damaged from improper installation. I replaced the servo with a corvette servo (mostly to get the new seals) and 4th gear now works great! However I cannot get the trans to shift into 2nd under any circumstances. Any idea what I should look at or replace next?

    • @bpdispatch6433
      @bpdispatch6433 Před 3 lety +1

      I have a gauge coming this week so I can test the line pressure. However the transmission is like not even trying to engage second gear. It’s not like the band is slipping, it just doesn’t even attempt to go to 2. If I manually shift from 1-2, go from 3-2, or try to start and drive in 2, it just doesn’t even try to go to second. Any tips or advice will be appreciated. I’m going to check the pin travel after work tonight

    • @IrocinZ
      @IrocinZ  Před 3 lety

      I would be checking for a missing checkball in the valvebody or possibly stuck valve. Its odd that you have 4th and not 2nd. It can also be caused by weak line pressure or the TV cable not hooked up, misadjusted. Other than that, with out doing diagnosis hands on, hard to say for sure. But those are the things that I would check.
