  • I'm tired of buying countless $5-15 Aquarium Thermometers only to have them break after 2 weeks of use. They're also inaccurate, easy to break, and a hassle. The Etekcity Lasergrip 774 Non-contact Digital Laser Infrared Thermometer Temperature Gun allows you to check your aquariums temperature accurately, quickly, and with out cross contaminating your other fish tanks.

What is your favorite way to measure your tank's temp?

I tried two tape strips on the tank. Never work good. I didn't know about these. I'm going to get one. Thank you. And never thought about checking the temperature of bags. Great video 😊

@@pankildoshi289 i wondered about this too but i read the same temps regardless of whether it's through the glass or directly at the water. i suggest aiming it at something inside the tank so yours not reading something behind the tank; if i aim it at my kid on the other side of the aquarium, it reads warmer.

Its very nice to see someone actually make a video with these. I got recommended one of these but I couldn't find many reviews. I also didn't have to heat most of my tanks at that point lol.

I agree these things are game changers! I frequently see them go on sale for around 20 dollars here and it's one of the best investments in my opinion! I use mine a lot for matching water temp when changing water and it speeds up the process tremendously! Big thumbs up!👍

Thanks for taking the time to post a demonstration! I just bought mine and it came with very minimal instructions and I didn’t know I could just aim at the aquarium. I was testing both lifting the hood and putting some water in a cup.

My heater is a Fluval E300 with built-in thermometer. I also use the Etekcity Lasergrip 630 (cuz if your tank gets to 1,076°F 🔥 you'd like to be able to measure that 😉) and 2 digital probes. I could probably live without the probes, but I like to be able to quickly get a 2nd reading to make sure the Fluval is close. I use the Etekcity for water changes along with the 2nd probe.

information not correct when you are using your Infrared Thermometer if you point it at the tank the temp you are reading is the glass not the water. Infrared Thermometer do not read temp threw glass. Due some homework and testing.

Hi. Just watched this and everything you said is absolutely true! I have had fish tanks for almost 30 years and cant tell you how many of those little black boxes break every two or three weeks for temp. They are always off and I also have the strips on my tanks, the glass ones too and right now there are probably 10 black thermometers hooked into my 100 gallon tank that dont work and batteries are a pain. I could go on and on. Its the same with the ph probes and monitors. I think I have 100 of them now. lol. Anyway did a lot of research on amazon. (Im in Canada) and this looks like the best thing ever! I will try it on my pool next summer season too. Thank you:)

I use the glass thermometers that attach to the inside of my tank. I hide them in the back, side of the tank but I can read easily too. About 4 or 5 dollars spent on two needed for my tanks.

I’m watched this hoping for a comparison, so I tested one of these ir guns we use at our medical clinic, the temp reading I got pointing at the glass and directly on the water from above were exactly the same, both readings were almost exactly what the traditional glass thermometer sitting in the tank read. So if you are wondering if this can be a way to check aquarium temp, I would say yes. It doesn’t matter if it reads only surface temp, the fact is it will work for check aquarium temp

good vid. i recommend a 3$ glass thermometer for each tank, they are accurate, never go bad, and you know the temp at a glance. it also frees up your hands if you adding water to an empty or almost empty tank and you are monitoring the temp. i never have to look for my infrared thermometer, cause i dont use one. thanks.

I recently got one of these infrared measuring device and what emissivity setting do I set this to to if I want to measure fish tank temp? Also it says on manual that these devices cant penetrare glass or it will give false readings. This device original use is to measure foods but can be used to measure other objects? Making sure I purchased correct one

Pointing at the glass will not give you the actual temperature of the water. You are only measuring the temperature of the glass.
