- In this video I do a quick overview of the address resolution protocol, commonly known as ARP. I explain why MAC addresses are needed when communicating on a local network and how ARP helps populate mac address tables on networked-devices.

Dude awesome explanation, this would had been so helpful to me years ago but its still a great refresher. Thank You.
Glad it helped!
Excellent explanation
Thanks 🙏
Love your explanations. Another insightful Video.
Thank you very much.
Thank you very much for this explanation, keep going.
Nice explanation, but there is no "G" in Hex numbers, like in the MAC address of the bottom PC.
LOL
Have you used Cisco packet tracer? It's a great teaching tool to see step by step which packets go where in a network
I did years ago when I first started my career
@@plaintextpacketsyeah I haven't used it since college, but your hand drawn network reminded me of it lol. Might be good to show people what's actually going on, but might not be worth all the setup
Is it correct to say that ARP broadcasting is use to get L2 address and ip broadcast is use to get L3 addr
ARP L2 broadcast used to map layer 2 (MAC) to layer 3 (IP). Layer 3 broadcasts are mainly used for application purposes (eg MDNS)
@@plaintextpackets Thanks for the clarification it helps my understanding 🙏
