That was my journey, PCT,RN now CRNA. I dont regret anything as a cna u can get so much exposure in a hospital and that makes nursing school a little easier. I recommend going to a hospital instead of a nursing home. A lot of nurses love sharing knowledge and i remember being in nursing school and knowing so much stuff already just from being in the hospital setting

I too recommend hospital over nursing home. I did nursing home, but as a CNA in the hospital, you get twice as much exposure and knowledge, which prepare you for nursing school

If you are already in nursing school, check with your state's board of nursing. In some states, you can automatically apply for the CNA after taking and passing your Fundamentals of Nursing course (and possibly some additional courses like Health Assessment) in school instead of taking an actual CNA course.

    • @peaceandshine

I graduated on June 2, 2023 from my CNA/GNA program. I didn't go the college route. There is a learning center in my area that has the program, and the tuition was covered by a workforce development center that i am a member of. I am awaiting my certification to be active, but it will take time due to COVID slowing the process down. I start at my area hospital as a PCT in Med Surge-Oncology unit, night shift on June 19, 2023. I am excited to start. I am also enrolled and starting the nursing program at the community college in the Spring 2024 semester.
There were three sections to our program. Section #1, was in class. We had 24 chapters to test on plus the final exam that covered all 24 chapters. We also had the skills to get familiar with. Section #2 was the Skills Review week, where we performed all 23 skills. Section #3 was Clinical week, where we were on a unit. Because our class were large, there were 4 separate groups. My group (group A) and group B did clinicals first, then C&D did clinicals the following week. I got hired for the same unit i did clinicals on.
In my state, there is a CNA and a GNA certification/license. Upon successful completion of the entire 12 week program, our information is sent to the Board of Nursing. For the GNA license, I registered through "Credentia", which is a division of Pearson Vue. I also scheduled my exams the same day of graduation and passed on the first attempt. I had 5 skills to do.

I work for a nonprofit hospital that pays for CNA training and helps encourage them to become nurses if they want. They also encourage us to stay CNA if we want and help us to be better at it. Now if they could just do something about all the nurse/CNA lateral violence, nurse/nurse lateral violence, CNA/CNA lateral violence, etc. There may not be any way to do anything about all the drama and bullying and mobbing, etc. If they could figure out some way to squash that even a little the job would be so much better and more quality people would apply.

    How much do CNA’s make?
Met a guy in sauna and said he was a travel CNA and you can request your own rate.
He mentioned he made like $30-$40 an hour which is solid
Now I’m considering this career 👍

    • @auhneja2164

CNA pay can range. Anywhere from $16-$40 an hour. This is greatly influenced by the company, type of CNA and like you mentioned, if you are working for an agency.

Look up the course at a community college. They won’t require you to register as a student at the school but they will require you to maybe add that school to your FASFA.
You should only have to register for the CNA course and not for becoming a student at that school.
