宋秀珍女士 1936年生。現任洛杉磯美國國際中國書畫研究會會長，從事繪畫和教學六十多年，具有豐富的教學經驗，採用一套獨特的教學方式，幫助學生快速理解與掌握繪畫技巧，深受學生的歡迎。 其繪畫題材豐富多樣，範圍涉及山水花鳥、工筆寫意，尤以牡丹、梅、竹見長。 作品多次參加中國及國際性畫展並獲獎。
Loading a brush with water, different colors and ink are vitally important to drawing peony. Not only we use the tip of the brush but also we use the rest part of the brush by pressing the brush to produce different colors or saturation of a color IN ONE STROKE ONLY.
A petal is like a hand of a palm (inside of a petal) and the back of the hand (outside of a petal). The outside is lighter but the inside is darker.

I translated what I could (unfortunately my Chinese vocabulary is not that good):
0:03 She's saying that you have to control the water content of your brush very carefully. If you use too much tube paint or the brush doesn't have enough water, your strokes will be too dry.
0:22 Scrape off excess water/paint off the side of the palette/bowl to help control your strokes. It's hard to tell, but it looks like she pre-mixed some white paint into a liquid mixture. So she's warning that when you go to re-wet your brush in later strokes, to only dip a tiny bit of water so you don't dilute the concentration.
1:18 Mix the color carefully so you get a blended pink gradation at the tip of the brush (like a peach)
1:45 She says she's teaching the easiest method: "7 stroke method". The front part of the flower is blocked in with about 7 petals. Once you're more advanced, you don't have to stick to 7 strokes.
2:21 The lightest area doesn't have that much white paint--the white is very dilute. If you have too much white paint, the stroke becomes way too dry and doesn't blend into the paper nicely.
2:32 Don't draw the other petals coming out from a single center. Have the other petals start from the side.
2:49 The strokes are starting to get a little dry, so she demonstrates how to load more of the white mix only onto the base/belly of the brush to preserver the color gradation.
3:37 Don't let the outer stroke get too close to the center. Leave some nice white space.
3:42 Ta-da. 7 strokes.
4:06 For the saturated/shadow part of the flower, you don't need white paint--at most only a little.
5:15 For the back row of petals, keep them in-between your front row petals, don't extend past them. She also said that this stroke was kind of dry, so she's going for more water.
5:40 She's pointing out the variation of heights in that stroke--there's a high and short side in the petal. Don't just do a single wide sweep.
7:15 She's pointing out that you should always go in for a tiny bit of water when picking up more paint--if you don't, the stroke will be too dry.
7:43 In this area, you don't have to extend your color all the way to the center, it's OK to leave some whitespace.
8:50 You can block in the middle row with about three narrow petals, then have more petals radiating outwards from that row. Make the bottom row of petals shorter than the top row (due to perspective).
9:22 Go ahead and fill in your whites if you have too much.

I was amazed by her expertise but only know that I would be blessed to understand the words. What is she dipping her brush into that is the thick white paste? She is a master of painting!
Looks to be titanium white or Marie's brand. It was either watered down or liquid white with it- could be something else

you know the real history of technique who invented this beautiful technique? the one stroke !
Its the asian paint brush she uses as well to give the effect as well as the angle .
She uses two shades of red, what we would call fire engine red and carmine in Western colour terminology. And to construct the upper petals a stroke at a time instead of using the larger flaring brush strokes at the beginning. For the rest, watch her brush carefully. This isn't the first time I've had to learn art techniques by watching only.
