I got to be at this game tonight. There's never a bad day to send the Pens home empty-handed and it was the first regular season game I've seen with a hat trick too. Fantastic stuff as always!
I was there too. It's was awesome. Perfect game to go to. High scoring and came down to the last 5 minutes, couldn't have been better

When the NHL wants a team in the playoffs they try their fucking hardest to get it done. Glad to see the Wings sticking their fingers in the NHL's eyes.
Sooo glad I’m not the only one who sees this blatant match fixing to get Pittsburgh in. Totally not suspicious that a garbage Penguins team “magically” starts winning while all the others forget how to play hockey 🙄
I think it’s a combo of wanting Pitt in and wanting us higher lottery odds, that’s a win-win for the league this year and long term

The Wings have gotten waaay too many unbelievable calls against them...esp. the high sticking calls and non-calls against Dylan Larkin. It's astonishing the inconsistency.

Wouldn’t have been called at all the other way around. I agree 100%. That was definitely a dive. But for some reason they get away with it. I remember a few years ago, maybe about six or seven, a Detroit player dove in one game. He got fined $2000 for it. But crybaby crosby has dove in several games and ended up with a power play. No fine. No embellishment penalty. Because the refs are married to crosby. It’s not as frequent now, because the league finally woke up and noticed he was doing that a lot. But it was ridiculous how he got away with it all the time. Just another reason to hate the penguins.

I was at the game. Absolute perfect game to be at. It was a blast. High action, high scoring, came down to the last 5 minutes of play. Couldn't have been any better.

The wings nearly got hosed in this one. That Malkin dive was not a hook, Walman had one hand on his stick. Puts them on the 5 on 3. Then somehow that isn’t goalie interference. How can you push the pad in like that??
Looks like Lalonde was just inviting the refs to come to Fuddruckers after the game! But then changed his mind, they were going to Fuddruckers themselves by chance

That third pittsburgh goal shouldn’t have counted. There was clearly goaltender interference. The refs wouldn’t have called that good if Detroit did that. FrIggin toronto has screwed Detroit over yet again.

at the 1st goal i've thought _"oh finally a ppg at home again"_
at the 2nd goal i was relieved Seider is shooting again... so many times he's more focussed on looking for others instead of doing it by himself and he's a good one from the blue line.
at the 3rd goal i've thought *_"what's the hell is going on"_*
then we lost it once more and let the pens comeback, with a little help from the refs ... lol
at the 4th goal i was really suprised _"19 SOG 4 GOALS ... impressing"_
the pens wrap-around was very well executed, Ned didn't had any clue where the ffff the puck is at until it crossed the line ... abit of unfortune
for some reason i never doubted that we won't win this game ... everything was looking just fine, a very rare red wings moment this season!
at the 5th goal i was like _"HERE WE GO!!"_
and at the 6th my neighbours knew i'm a red wings fan! Perron really deserved that hatty! amazing game by him!
the 7th goal was just the icing on the cake and i was abit exhausted to be honest... ;)
the whole team almost made it's best season performance, the game was very physical, fast by red wings standarts and everybody worked his ass off!

The officiating in this game was an absolute embarrassment. It’s long past time for accountability. Refs routinely scream and cuss out players and coaches, but when they get a little of that back, their fragile egos can’t handle it. There’s plenty of micd up videos online of refs constantly running their mouths.
Yes, the game needs to be officiated. They have an important job. But they try to be too much a part of the game. Buddy buddy with certain players and screaming obscenities at others needs to stop. Shut up and call the rule book. They try to influence the game far too much.
Refs are becoming more like our modern day cops. Self important and shielded from accountability. Desperately need to be humbled.
Game brought back bad memories of the screw job in 09. Wings were destroying this team and the refs said no Cindy wins.

Sadly it won’t change until there is change at the top - Bettman needs to go, he’s out of touch and makes some seriously questionable decisions. He reminds me more and more with each passing year of David Stern, and no wonder, Gary used to be involved in the NBA.
Not sure if you caught the cheap stick slewfoot that 67 put on Larkin right after Perron's first goal - watch how he goes down as the player pokes the heel of his skate intentionally....right in front of the ref...could have been a dangerous play. Cheapshops seem to just get rewarded with non-calls these days
Every game is now a ref show. It’s really Bettman’s doing though. He wants them calling the slightest infraction.
I mean Walman’s penalty, he had one hand on his stick and lifted malkin’s with it. Then Malkin falls? I ref youth hockey, if a peewee player did that I’d assume he lost his balance. When an NHLer does it I have to assume he’s diving. When you start calling chinsy stuff like that it literally takes away the competitive spirit because it’s better to just hold defensive position rather than compete. Turning into basketball. Bettman needs to go. League has gone way too soft just like the rest of society.
No one has better game day replays than awood.

The league needs to get out of their own way. Refs will take 5 minutes to “sort out penalties” after a small scrum, but then when there’s a hat trick they send out the cleanup crew WHILE people are still throwing them. Let them accumulate on the ice and let the goal scorer have his rare, memorable moment!

Finally... some gritty, physical hard driving play with emotion and commitment. Pens played desperate and dirty, so it was a battle of wills. Big ups to Larks for taking a lot of cheap shots and Perron for undressing DeSmith in the 3rd.
