It’s a scam, before they open for submissions they have already chosen the films they will show. If you don’t have studio backing, aren’t already a name in the industry or don’t have a big name attached to your film it’s pointless and a waste of money. Focus on smaller festivals that you actually have a fair chance of getting in to.

Great video, I went out one time while visiting my gf at the time (ex now, yeah yeah mini violin) and we saw the animated shorts and this little movie called Whiplash, man I love Whiplash. We used that e-ticket waitlist thing

This is so helpful for me since I'm attending NYFF for the 3rd year. Just the hotel and travel is always the most difficult for me when it comes to going to attending a film festival. Sundance is definitely in my future along with TIFF. Maybe Telluride if I can find a way to go with a group.

I’m officially going to be a half fest volunteer at a theatre at Sundance in January! Imma have to make that drive from slc to park city each day but fingers crossed the weather won’t be too terrible..

I’ll have to check this out sometime. I like Telluride because it’s at the perfect time of year (Labor Day) and most Oscar hopefuls show there.
I wanted to go to TIFF, but couldn’t this year, so Sundance is my next opportunity. I also wouldn’t mind getting that extra spot in the condo.

Look in the Provo/Orem area for hotels. It's closer to Park City and Sundance and cheaper than SLC.

Hey there. Great tips! Curious, is there an easy way to check out the wide release dates of a specific movie? You provided a good tip, why see something that might be on Netflix within a month? Is there a site that tells you wide release dates?
As far as I know - not really
I have seen Variety and Indiewire compile lists of what’s getting picked up but that isn’t until the first week
I personally check each individual movie’s IMDb release page
It's my goal to go to Sundance in the next 5 years, also I live in Colorado so I want to go to Telluride at some point as well.
If you have that open spot I can drive myself and meet you there. Just saying. 😉

Heading in January for my first time. I have a ski pass, but also want to see some movies. How fast do the individual passes sell out? Waiting for the on sale date in January and most movies I want to see are showing multiple times.

Why is the second week usually cheaper? Is that because the actors, etc. attend the first week making it more "valuable"? Just wondering because I love to hear them talk about their experiences/panels etc.

Yes. And they have some cool Vr stuff

I really imporant question I have! there's subtittles? specifically Spanish or other languages... I have no problem with movies in english, but I want to travel to sundance with friends from Chile and some of them aren't that good with english
