Norman Reedus Talks About "The Bikeriders" Movie

- Millions know Norman Reedus as "Daryl Dixon" from "The Walking Dead," and now he's starring as "Funny Sunny" in the new movie "The Bikeriders". We sit down for a chat to discuss his role in the film and his extensive experience on motorcycles.

For those who don't know, this club is based on the Outlaws MC.
"Funny Sonny" was a Hells Angel from California. He spent a lil time
with the Outlaws in the midwest prior to the Angels and Outlaws going to war with one another.
There's a famous pic of him riding on the back of an OL's bike. Both wearing their colors.

Throwback film with great actors. Gives you the CC Rider feel of the 60’s and early 70’s and the Billy Jack era. Looking forward to this film. 👍👍

I grew up around bikers. ❤ I knew a guy who made his body completely custom himself and he even made a suicide clutch out of a handle bar. Shit was FIRE🔥🤘
Real Funny Sonny passed away in 2010. He was a good friend and he was a great fan of weddings, he remarried about ten times. I've read a post about him, written by his friend.
Funny Sonny was quite the character. He was from a breed that we’ll never see again. I saw an interview where he said y some young HA members beat him up and took all of his memorabilia from his apartment. What a total lack of respect towards a true legend. He was a true Hells Angel. It looks like Norman has his character down perfect. RIP Funny Sonny.
@@richardashwood5771 I guess, I've read about it... Wasn't it a story that he was at the bar without any signs of him being a part of 81MC and he saw some guys flying 81 patches, so he told them he is a retired 81 and that started a brawl?
@@richardashwood5771 he kind of didn't. My father never had teeth like that. Norman decided he wanted it. My Mom was wife number 2 I belive.

How did the interviewer not know that Norman is a legit motorcycle guy? He literally has a show where he rides around, and he talks about how on the walking dead he rode around the back country after they cut filming for the day like everyday...
The interviewer literally mentioned Reedus' show...

I think we all started on a yamaha my first experience was an 86 yz80 back in 1990. I sat on it, revved it, dump the clutch and landed on my ass. Did that about 8 or 15 times until I got the hang and it was game over at that point 😂
Reedus is correct on the spontaneous rides. Or anything for that matter. Plans never seem to work out.
Great interview. I really liked how it didn't seem like a publicity piece. I mean, we all know what these media days are for, but this seemed like it went beyond just that. And, in fact, for a movie like this works much better.

You have alot of catching up if you only remember him from boondocks saints. He's in alot of other really good movies. Not counting the walking dead, but I'm looking forward to seeing this. His demeanor tends to be the same in all of his roles. That's why I love em. He is kind of a 1 dimensional actor and makes the roles his. Ain't no missing that voice 😂

I got an invite from HD and went to the premiere last night (video up on the channel). Really enjoyed the film. Could have had more action at times, but certainly worth watching. 🤘🏻

Most people don't know this back in the 1960's over ten thousand bikers showed in Vancouver, Canada and overwhelmed the city with mayhem and endless partying....I know this after talking to a retired cop who couldn't believe what he was seeing. He said he was going to write a book about it.

My dad was Funny Sonny, I love Norman Reedus but my father is depicted wrong.

@@Marko-bh3pl he did not look like that, ever. Norman states he wanted to make my father look like that. My father's teeth were never rotted out. His hair never looked like that, even when long, this is supposed to be 1965, my Dad was the most clean cut looking biker lol. In the 70s he wore a beard long for a bit of time, but mostly when he did have facial hair, he had a goatee.
@@RebGaming I understand why you want to respect your father's appearance if he didn't look like that but Norman clearly states he didn't want to look like the other pretty boy actors, so he went with the dirty look on purpose. From what I've seen so far your dad seemed like a badass biker guy I don't think they were trying to give him a bad rep.

@RebGaming If you listen to the interview again he even says at the beginning that there's a whole bunch of good looking guys and he wants to be the complete opposite in the movie. So he wanted to make the character look like how he wanted him to. So he's literally saying that he wanted to make the character look different. So that means he didn't want to look like your father If you were saying your father was clean cut like the other guy's He said he didn't want to look like that for the character.

Too bad he doesn't seem to know the difference between a 'jocky-shift' & a 'suicide-clutch' ....
He had a tank shifter, not a suicide shifter. I couldn't tell very well from this video clip but most likely he had a rocker clutch. Harleys never came equipped stock with a suicide clutch but some were modified to use a suicide clutch, which wasn't a very good mod to do cuz it could get a guy into a dangerous situation, therefore the name....lol.
