    What gear should I cover next?
    Anker currently has a rad sale going on right now (for only five more days)
    There is currently a discount for their new 555 unit alone, and a discount for the package deal of the unit + the solar panels. I also have a discount code you can stack on top of the current discount, so overall a great opportunity to save on the product! Here is the link the 555 PowerHouse - ankerfast.club/3c3LiGX (Clip Coupon + Enter Code POWERHOUSEL1 for an extra $100 off until 8.7)
    And for the 555 PowerHouse + Solar - ankerfast.club/3RvM0x8 (Clip Coupon + Enter Code POWERHOUSEL2 for an extra $150 off until 8.7)

    This lens with a collar and a monopod (with a loosened ball head) is awesome. Can move around (run n gun) more easily that with a tripod but still really helps stabilize those longer shots.

    Ive had this lens for a year and I completely agree with all the talking points. It does the job fairly well and has a nice price point but is not super for video.

    Love that lens, prefer it to a 70-200 f2.8. Love the compression at 400mm for landscapes

  • @jessejayphotography
    @jessejayphotography Před 2 lety +2

    For those Canon shooters, I can confirm the RF 100-500 f/4.5-7.1 works really well for video shooting on R5/R6; even on the R5C the stabilization is better than the Sigma in this video. Variable aperture is a downside of course and that price...😬but I could live with it. When I don't need super telephoto the RF 70-200 with R5C in S35 5.9K crop mode still gives beautiful oversampled video up to 320mm.
    I loved the format of this review, Levi.

    You'll rarely find teleconverters for lenses slower than f/4 because AF becomes an issue on some cameras. At least it did in the days of DSLRS. Remembering that a teleconverter is essentially the opposite of a speed booster, I think an f/5.6 lens would effectively become an f/8.

    • @Levi_Allen
      @Levi_Allen  Před 2 lety

      It exists for the L mount though which is lame. I wonder why it doesn't work for E. F/8 is fine to me

    • @Levi_Allen
      @Levi_Allen  Před 2 lety +1

      I have my focus “change speed” set decently slow in camera. You can adjust the speed to make it crazy snappy if you want. I don’t faster most of the time as it can make shots that I don’t want it to change focus change too quickly

    Hello, seeing your video feels like life is beautiful, our friend has a portable wood stove, I personally think it should be very suitable for you. This stove is called wanthot stove, which can be used as an oven, toast bread, pizza potatoes, egg tarts, etc. It can also fry steak, cook noodles, cook soup, and watch the beautiful flames to accompany you in the quiet night. The key is that the workmanship is very beautiful, and the firewood can last up to 8 hours to burn. I'm willing to give you one if you need one, because I love your videos so much.

      @@Levi_Allen Mostly on my DJI RS2 for video and handheld for photos, with a little bit of stabilisation in post it works quite well. From the 6:00 mark on this video czcams.com/video/qvgWQnHiUP4/video.html almost every shoot was with the 100 to 400, slowed down and stabilise the results are quite good.

    Great review Levi (as usual) - I also bought this lens when it came out and was surprised how much I use it. Would def recommend the tripod collar which works well on a monopod for an almost handheld speed solution. i also find that the collar sticking out on the bottom can be useful for quickly resting it on a rock or log for those moments you want to capture when you don't have time to grab a tri/monopod. Also didn't want the attention you sometimes get from using the white Sony telephotos. Great lens for the price overall. Appreciate all the effort you take putting together these videos.

    You can try to set the IS from a7iv and maybe a7sIII Body manually to acording focal length, this makes it better for me. But i retourned the lens. For me it looks like, the communication from the lens dont work properly. There will be no extender in near future, because Sigma have no permission from Sony to use this mount for extenders. ;-)

    I sold mine but not because it wasn't great - and only because I wanted something a little lighter. I traded it for the Tamron 70-300mm and don't miss the extra 400mm. Anything past 200mm is a whole other world. Great video.

      How does the optics/ stabilization compare in your opinion?

    • @aaronsambeyfilm
      @aaronsambeyfilm Před 2 lety

      @@Levi_Allen There's no stabilization on the Tamron however, oddly, because it is less than half the weight, I find handheld far more comfortable and less jittery. Usually the heavier the equipment the smoother handheld is but this just seems to keep the weight closer to the body and that's all it needs. The autofocus is incredible, as well.

    You say Sony doesn't make a pro level APS-C camera body, but I would consider the Sony A7IV a viable option to use APS-C lens on, it has great performance just not with 120 FPS in 4k, but the 1080 120FPS is still very good if you needed it. So pairing an A7IV with your A7SIII would IMO be a great setup.

    • @Levi_Allen

    As someone who has fly fished more than a hundred hours, that cast at 0:49 is a perfect example of what you want to avoid. At the end that got cut, the fly entered the water like a thrown stone.
    The line should go out about 2 feet above the water, then gently drift down to touch the surface without sending any ripples.

    • @Levi_Allen

    • @Tugela60
      @Tugela60 Před rokem

      @Levi Allen If I am using a telephoto I am usually photographing something at a distance. 100mm is generally not too useful for that, so it does not matter if the zoom starts at 200mm. Plus, a wider zoom range than 3x typically requires some compromise in IQ at one end or the other.
