The statues took me back to my younger years. When my dad and me watched Star Trek for the first time. He told me something different was coming on TV. He had no idea how popular this series would be! These statues reflect Spock and Captain Kirk very very good ,it would be good to have them around to keep our galaxy safe now.The statues are really nice ,I like them better than the first series I saw on this station Live long and prosper Spock!
Thanks Woody. They are actually figures that can be posed, but they are amazing. Love the story you shared. It’s one of the reasons a lot of us guys and gals collect such things. They hold a special remembrance in our hearts and remind us of something we found extremely special. For me some of my favorite characters like Blue Devil, Vigilante, Nexus, Badger, Dredd, and Golgo 13...all have a special back story of how I discovered them that make them uniquely special to me and why I’m still fans of them today. Having something that’s tangible on my shelf (or Detolf) that represents these characters that I can see as I go about my day rekindles those emotional mental time capsules for me daily. So, I know some people look down on collectors, think we are childish, stupid, or they just don’t get it....which is fine, because then clearly this medium isn’t meant for them, but for those of us that are just like me (and there are a lot of us)...these pieces are pure nostalgia and are priceless to us.
Thank you for the kind review. I developed and manufactured them for the company.
I know, I follow a lot of your post on Sideshow Freaks - Really appreciate all the work you’ve put in and continue to do.
Looks like they're sold out. Will they be making more ?
@@elbrones Don't know about QMx. My brand, EXO-6, will.
@@nanjin1536 Read about all the unfortunate drama with QMX. Looking forward to what you're doing with EXO-6. Saw your early version of Data from First Contact. Sculpt looks good. Only suggestion I have is to tighten up the uniform stitching. It's too large and doesn't match what was worn on screen. I know it's a porotype so there will be a lot of improvements as it gets further developed.
I hope you blow qmx out of the stars
Really appreciate you doing this review. I was considering picking them up and had no idea of the changes made - especially the box art! THANK you!!!
Derekus Maximus Thank you partner I appreciate that. Thought I may have went too picture heavy but there aren’t a lot of reviews out there on these version 2 rerelease figures. Thanks for watching. ~ Jase
I finally got my hands on the kirk figure! I've been looking for a really really really really really long time and I finally got him today! He was so hard to find. He's still sealed though :'D my heart can't make me open it. I've got the first version though, still love him!
These figures look absolutely amazing! I've been wanting the Kirk, especially, for a long time, so the fact that you have this set makes me extremely jealous. They look photo-realistic to the actors and I bet they look so cool standing on the shelf. QMX really knocks it out of the park and I wish they'd hurry up and release a Sam from Supernatural, because I've been wanting their Dean since he was first announced, but waited to get him, because I was afraid they'd never get around to making a Sam... which they still haven't.
Keep the videos coming, man!!! ^_^
Fu-Reviews thanks brother! Yeah they are amazing. I completely understand about waiting for the full set for Sam and Dean before pulling the trigger...because honestly QMX track record of delivering what they show off at Comic Con and Toy Fair is dismal at best. I happen to have Mal from Firefly and we were shown most of the crew and I would bet the farm we will only ever get Malcolm from them. They have also showed a crap ton of Star Trek figures and I’m not sure any of TNG figures will see light of day beside Picard which they already released. It’s strange how they do things there. Hell I was cutting flips when they showed off their 1/6 Scale Pennywise and turns out they didn’t have the license. It went to Hot Toys....so I’m not exactly sure what they are doing over there....sadly it appears they don’t know what the hell they are doing themselves. Peace partner and thanks for watching! Jase
@@MarshallMadeCollectibles do you think we'll get the rest of the trek stuff? I really wanted admiral Kirk captain Spock Khan movie tng and even reboot Kirk that we saw.
Fu!!!! So this where you been hiding... Haha
Robertjustafan God, I hope so....but QMX is famous for showing a plethora of figures at Cons and Fairs only to have them never seen light of day. I’m a huge Firefly fan. When they released Malcolm “Mal” Reynolds I couldn’t wait to own him, in fact I have 2, but I’ve customized....and love. They promised the whole crew of the Serenity and showed Jane at numerous shows and cons and promised he was in the pipe line....never happened. Recently they showed 1/6 Scale Pennywise from It again at numerous shows and cons only to find out....they never had the license. It was actually obtained by Hot Toys, who is now making the figure. So, the fact QMX has shown a lot for Star Trek....is maddening. Because we have characters from the original series, the movies, a host of characters from STNG and also figures based on the newer movies with Chris Pine....all of them were stunning and beautiful and with the number of Star Trek fans out there would be a cash cow for QMX.... sadly I don’t even know if they are going to finish the original members of the original series bridge crew let alone the other figures they have previewed and shown.
Now....that happens with companies. They will show something off and the demand isn’t there so it isn’t cost effective to make it...but with QMX I don’t see where they could claim that. People have been chomping at the bit to get their hands on these figures, but QMX has been extremely slow to produce them. That’s why the 1st release Spock and Kirk’s resell prices went north of $300 each...and why McCoy “Bones” is still selling that high. Hopefully they rerelease Bones because I sold mine along with my 1st issue Kirk and Spock when I was offered over $1k for the set of 3. Now having these 2 back, along with Khan and the captain’s chair....I’d love to at least round out the collection with those three crew members. I do however have Scotty and Sulu preordered.
Whoa....wrote you a novel sorry. Love these guys and it’s easy to get carried away writing about them. 😉
@@MarshallMadeCollectibles keep writing that novel lol... I love all the info your giving,it seems no one else has which baffles me because I love these figures too...I never sold mine in fact I bought doubles of the original trio along with Khan Picard and chair and now bought a 2 ND release Kirk hoping he be a bit different especially on being more posable because he's hard to pose in that chair, you try posing him cross leg with that I'm thinking a strategy look ... Not so easy, I really don't see much of a difference other than the box and no sash but I did see the difference clothing wise , your right the clothes are more form fitting, I never noticed Spock being green until you mention it , I'm ok with it being that's part of him being Vulcan as long as he doesn't look like the hulk , I never noticed it on mine so I guess I'm ok with mine.
I take note of the earlier version of QMX KIrk and took the measurements from the first series superimposed over the actual film. There is another figure out there from Darkside Collectibles that resembles even an older Kirk that is more accurate as well, yet this version of QMX departs from the more tapered chin line of the earlier sculpt and is now given a more rectangular boxy shape. WHY? and what's up with the high turtle neck binding on the neck of this Kirk, very unlike the earlier version which laid flat as it 's supposed to be. Viewing all the episodes on TOS these are indeed major flaws. The earlier QMX version has a more tapered chin of the young Captain James T. Kirk and the outfit lays flat up by the neck. If you can find the earlier version I would opt for that version.
WOW!!!!! Amazing figures!!
Truly are. Stunning in hand.
Thanks for the review I was starting to think ppl hated star trek tos... everything mcu mcu mcu and starwars.
Robertjustafan it really is. Hot Toys is now going to be pumping out Spider-Man figures like they used to with the Iron Man figures. So I hear you brother.
The paint sculpt on the hands are better than the first kirk not sure about spock waiting for my spock to come in the mail
Had no idea they were even entertaining updating the head sculpts. Now I wish I would have waited longer to get these, but I pretty much bought them both individually as soon as they were released. Who knew? Just picked up Bones a few months ago. Might let him sit in the box for a few more months to see if he gets an upgrade too and then trade him out.
I wouldn’t be surprised to see a rerelease of Bones now that they rereleased Kirk and Spock. I know a lot of my fellow collectors were a bit upset by it, because the prices for the first release figures had shot up past the $300-$350ea mark and now that these have come out and those prices have started to plummet. Personally I don’t think you can go wrong with either release. They are all beautiful figures.
thank you for that information I saw that
Lol...love the intro... I got both figures 1 St and 2 ND releases. , blew my mind on the prices...I really don't see much of a difference other than the boxes and no sash from original release, l really wish the figures where more posable there just too stiff! Try posing these guys in the captains chair ... Not an easy task ...
Robertjustafan think the biggest change is the uniforms....the 1st release shirts flare out more at the waist where the 2nd releases are more form fitting and the boots went from a matte finish to a gloss finish which will match the rest of the crew being made. Oh and you can probably attest to this better then I can because I don’t have my 1st issue Kirk and Spock anymore - that Spock’s body is more slender and not as Buff as the original release which fits the character better. The only other thing is the head paint. The set I had - Spock had a darker color to him and under fluorescent lighting he had an almost green cast to him were the second release is much more natural. My Kirk’s main difference was my 1st release looked glossy....where the second release is more matte and muted giving him a more realistic portrait.....again that was just with the figures I owned. Which a lot of folks on the Sideshow Freaks board had as well, but again those differences are slight and unless you compare them side by side....you wouldn’t really notice except the shirt issue. Luckily with you having both releases you got the best of both worlds. So congrats on having both sets! Because they are all sincerely beautiful pieces to own. Truly little pieces of art.
@@MarshallMadeCollectibles I didn't get the 2 ND release Spock since I have doubles of the 1 St release Spock... But I had to know and get a better Kirk and know if it was better so I have 3 kirks lol,. 2 1st releases and the reissue. Or in trek terms. Captain Kirk, mirror Kirk and transport accident Kirk lol... Speaking of which I love to get a 1/6 trek outfit he wore in green. In some episodes, also wasn't his captain shirt yellow?
Hmmm never noticed the green not too noticeable...I'm ok with my 1 St release Spock as long as Spock doesn't look like hulk , alittle green is ok it's part of his Vulcan hertiage.
I wish someone would bring out a reissue of Scotty. I came late for this game, and have collected some multiples, but I totally didn't know about Scotty till he was sold out. Now so stupidly priced on eBay. No chance for me.
Me too. These were beautiful pieces though.
These do look good but I'm reluctant to grab them if there's no McCoy coming, I can't have 2 of the big 3 without the last!
Gee Wunder I completely understand. It baffles me that QMX isn’t milking this cash cow for all it’s worth. If was in charge of new product... I’d have 4-6 new 1/6 scale figures based on Star Trek each year....there are enough die hard fans and collectors who would happily grab them all.
My friend talks regularly to owner of QmX .main reason these got reissued was to combat scalping
Well hopefully they will re-release Bones then.
Does your friend know if QmX is going to be releasing Uhura and Chekov? And a Kirk in green casual shirt as seen in "The Trouble with Tribbles" episode ?
@@Collection_Obsession probably more likely a Chekhov but not really sure as the Star Trek Movie figures are due to be released and have a priority at the moment. Plus they are also trying to get the Next Gen stuff resolved
@@mikesgtrs1 oh ok. Thanks for the info. I didn't even know if they were still going to be doing the movie figures. I'd love to have a "KHAN!!!!" figure from the Wrath of Khan.
I did the same as you... I sold the 3 version 1 figures for over £900 and then pre-ordered these. Just waiting on the McCoy now :-)
Great minds think alike partner! Thanks for watching.
Got both versions on Kirk , your right on the clothes way too big , I had to put a bit Scotch tape in back to make the clothes more form fitting.
I HATED the fact that they stopped doing the TOS crew 😡😤😠🤬
Me too, the guy behind it though has continued to make 1/6 Star Trek figures but so far there haven’t been any OST members.
Did you call Kirk fat??? He just big bone. Lol. I think your thinking of future Kirk 😁
Robertjustafan Kirk fat??? Never....that solid Gorn killing mid drift muscle.
