I'm sorry to say but all the Hadiths that refer to wrestling do not in any way reference to masjid ie a mosque. Rather it is referring to a place where they were wrestling could be outside the mosque compound doesn't mean it was inside. It can also have been a totally different location as none of the hadiths say Masjid.
      Reference
      Sahih Muslim 2609 a
      Sahih Muslim 2609 b
      Sahih al-Bukhari 6114
These are the most authentic Hadith regarding wrestling however I believe people have added the wording Masjid to back the agenda to allow people to wrestle in place of worship and learning. There is nothing wrong with wrestling so long as it doesn't cause harm to yourself or others however in a place of worship it is for reflecting on yourself and your lord and a place to get more knowledge, place for reading as well as praying and wrestling cause problems for those that want to study and reflect as well as pray. Outside the compound or even within the compound seperate to the praying area isn't an issue. Unless you have authentic Hadith in Bukhari and Muslim as they are most authentic for sunna that clearly says prophet entered into the mosque and spotted his companions wrestling. Unfortunately the hadiths do not mention location it could have been anywhere. So it's best to leave the house of worship for praying and studying.
