  • We can make bows out of many type of materials and tools at low cost. Building one bow from an old bicycle wheel can be as cool as bow made form PVC pipe especially when it can function as a normal bow or even can do bow fishing with it. I build this bow with the inspiration from the Green Arrow bow, or Oneida compound bow. I will later add cams to turn it into a compound bow. After several test shot at the target, i think one day I should use it to do bow fishing a long with my crossbow. In this video, i used two strips of leaf spring that I cut previously. The draw weight is 80lbs at 28 inches. In my previous video, I built a similar bow using four coil springs making the bow strong enough to shoot small games or do bow fishing. And I also show how I made the arrow rest from a PVC pipe.
    I am sorry that there's no available template. I was just try to improvise and use what i had to build the bow, so didn't draw a plan. But I can provide you the following measurement : the riser part is 30cm long, each level part is 24cm, each limb is 36cm, the string is 93cm. I hope this help. :)
    In my previous video I show a bow that I made out of a Leaf Spring that I found an old leaf spring at the local salvage yard. It was a good bow and more powerful than this bow. Please check it out in this link : • Assemble and shoot my ...

Bitte schau es dir unter diesem Link an: • Assemble and shoot my ...

    I have wanted to make this bow for the last 4 years. Now, this video appeared in front of me. What a treasure. Thank you for laying out a foundation & idea of how to make it. I am going to make this bow this week. I'll be using a normal aluminium tube instead of the leaf spring and I will use spring in place of the two strings. Hope it turns out fine. Wish me luck!

    Great idea for bow but in my opinion painted wood as a handle makes your hands dirty I guess. It wouldn’t be better to use flame thrower and later on paint it with transparent spray paint? I don’t know 🤷‍♂️ just wondering

  • @baz3184
    @baz3184 Před rokem

    Why do the arrows come out so slowly?
    80lbs should be allot faster.

But there are an easier alternative. In my other video, I made the prod of my medieval crossbow from an old blade of a table planer. It's thin enough, no need much effort for grinding and only need some cutting. You might want to find out in this link: czcams.com/video/TjtA7U6rJEY/video.html

    This bow is NOT 80#’s. On a compound bow, there’s no way a 80# bow could be drawn and aimed without the cams kicking over for relief. But this isn’t a compound bow, thus there’s no relief at full draw. Admittedly, the bow is cool, but saying it’s 80# is false advertisement.

      Thanks Nandu for the question. It took me lots of time and effort to cut and grind it into this small and thin. I initially planned to use them as my pistol crossbow prods but they are too strong so I decided to use it in this bow construction with the lever mechanism instead.

    How is this bow compared to compound bows?

      thank for the question, it's not as practical as a compound bows, but at least it can shoot. and it's fun project to build. :)

  • @jesusoftheapes
    @jesusoftheapes Před 2 lety +2

    If that was 80lbs of draw weight it would not stick into a coconut like that. It would blow through it and the cardboard box behind it. This is NOT a lever bow but it looks like one. You need metal cables to get 55 lbs of draw weight on real lever bows and you need a wheel in the operations to get over that much weight. There is 0 chance this bow draws 80 lbs.

    • @cambohobbies
      @cambohobbies Před 2 lety +3

      There’s no way a 100lbs bow can make arrow exit the coconut, let alone a 80lbs bow. The older the coco is the harder to make arrow go deeper. Maybe you are living in the west and never seen someone shoot a coconut before. Or maybe you have shot a very young fruit but this is no watermelon 🍉 .

      I'm gonna have to agree with you it doesn't look like he's pulling 80 pounds shooting from the cheek like this. I got a 64 pound longbow made out of Osage orange and I know what it feels like to shoot that from the cheek and it's 6 feet long he just doesn't look like he's struggling at all pulling 80 pounds with limbs that short and no cams I don't buy it.

      It's 80lbs, most people don't believe it, i shot an 80lbs bow before, so I trust the scale when I weight it. It doesn't perform as good as other bows with 80lbs, but it's fun to build and shoot one :)
