this honestly reminds me of my sweet memories as kid in the early 2010s. I can remember going to this mall with cool shops but i loved it for one thing being the superhero shop it had. this was the same year The Amazing Spider-Man was about to drop. i saw a toy mask for the movie and wore it everywhere. when i went out of the mall with my father, i could see the buildings align and glow from below into the night light in a sort similar position as the video's image, made me feel like i was swinging in the skies. and when i hear this remake, all i can think of for some reason is just that memory, looking up, and seeing The Amazing Spider-Man swinging. weird memory, but that's how Resonance works.
Retro Ocean ah I see. But still the purple sky and that tilted view. Heck just the view is giving me some weird vibes. I’m getting Spider-Man vibes? I don’t know tbh but I know I saw it when I was younger or something. I need a machine that can make me see my memory lol!
Nice arrangement and lovely synths. I really like how the timbre changes throughout the entire song, it's a really refreshing touch. However I think it would be a lot better if it was warmer and if the instruments weren't so vastly different in terms of stereo imaging and dynamics. The main chords should definitely be quieter than the lead and they should definitely be less compressed. The snare sounds like it's in a huge booming room, the synths sound like they're in a dryer place, the bass sounds like it's too far away... The instruments sound very disjointed due to that, they don't sound like a unit at all. There's a lot of piercing highs that are very poorly balanced and quite possibly shouldn't even be in the mix at all. The hi-hats draw too much attention but even if they were balanced well they're really among the top 10 worst hi-hats I've ever heard and their dry and piercing sound is an absolute mismatch for the silky and blurry vibe of this song. Not hating, just saying. Despite all of the production and mixing issues, I loved this remix and it's really nice to hear people spice up this classic gem.
Sorry for the necropost, but if you wanna give criticism, this is certainly not the way to do it. Saying things like "These are the top 10 worst hi-hats I've ever heard," doesn't bring any valuable info to the table and only serves to discourage the artist. Criticism should always be constructive. I think you started this paragraph with good intentions but it somewhat turned into a rant. The better thing to do would be to point out issues in an objective manner and point out potential fixes. There's no need to totally trash on a song and finish it off with a lukewarm compliment to soften the blow.
I’m obsessed with this song and I’ve listened to a lot of remixes. This is honestly one of the best.
