"Honie then began to attack Benn with a kitchen knife, slashing her throat four times from ear to ear, with the slashes being deep enough to reach her backbone.[2][4] In the early hours of the next day, police officers came to Benn's house, responding to a 911 call from one of her neighbors. The responding officers found a smashed window and Benn's corpse partially naked, with her being mutilated and having deep stab wounds to her anus and vagina."

The job of the witnesses is to report what they experienced. Those who object to these people providing their observations should ask themselves if they would object to hearing a plethora of gruesome and indeed bodily fluid-purging details.
Sixty years ago the details of state executions were reported on the front pages of daily newspapers. So we do have quite a history of reporting and the presenting of a record.
For some witnesses the executions are difficult to watch and hear. For some family members of the victims of capital crimes there is occasionally less than “closure,” but more of additional trauma.
To my knowledge no follow up study has been conducted (optional only!) if the feelings and thoughts of the family members of the victims following the execution of the women and men who have taken the lives of murderers.
It is additionally to be noted that the correctional systems provide mental health support to those personnel who , though voluntarily, participated in causing the death of a human being.
It would be very tough work to do for those who have the heart to see a person on that gurney.

To all of you wishing this man had a horrific death, you are no better than him screaming for blood. What this man done was horrific. The victims and family’s should never be forgotten, but this man’s family are also victims. Execution is nothing less than murder. You’re killing a man cos he murdered 😳. So you become the killers. These people who also had to kill him will suffer later on as they are not killers and done this as a job ? 😳. It eventually plays on the executioners mind. Hence he’s saying there’s therapy for anyone needing it. Death penalty costs a hell of a lot more than life without parole. USA isn’t a third world country with pitch forks but this certainly seems like it. Surely the best punishment would be prison for the rest of his natural life. He’s dead now it’s over for him. Living is harder

Taberon Dave Honie was an American murderer and rapist who was executed by the U.S. state of Utah for murdering and raping his ex-girlfriend's mother, Claudia Benn, in 1998.

And it was seamless. Utah should follow Texas and Oklahoma by vastly expediting the appeals process. The DP should be administered in every intentional case where there is irrefutable video evidence of guilt, DNA evidence of guilt, or a reliable confession. That would not only serve justice but also would deter others. We ought to have 10 times more of these in Utah--just like Oklahoma, which has had 125 DPs since 1982. By contrast, Utah has had only EIGHT.
