Part 3 of 'Four Little Engines' narrated by Willie Rushton *Tidmouthsheds has already done these but these were requested, dedicated to the Talyllyn Railway and the late Rev. Wilbert Awdry
This story is based of the time Wilbert Awdry worked as a guard on the Talyllyn Railway and left the refreshment lady behind on that platform sometime between 1951 or 1952
I’m pretty sure it was between 1952 and this book’s publication in 1955, as Awdry and his family visited the railway on holiday in 52, and Awdry decided to become a volunteer afterwards.
What I always thought funny about this story is while the refreshment lady is explaining to Peter Sam that Henry is a guaranteed connection she also missed Henry's train.
She can’t live too far: if I’m the refreshment lady, I won’t live at Tidmouth, ride 2 hours of Main Line trains, then ride SR trains for another hour to get to work everyday. My guess is she lives at Crovan’s Gate.
Peter Sam certainly looks like a ladies' man, and just as much acts like a free-spirited engine. I guess the thing is that he cares about his job a little too much to do it right at times. Don't worry, Peter Sam. I'm like that sometimes myself to be honest with you. BTW, I notice Sir Handel has that large rear round window in the previous story that Peter Sam has in the TV series. Interesting.
yep and the early skarloey railway based books and the one mid sodor book depicted peter sam & sir handel in the builds that sir haydn & edward thomas originally had :).
No as where he came from was a railway with an engine called Duke sir Handel was o their with him the thin controller bought them and painted them red the Peter Sam you know what's the one that used to work on the railway with Duke and sir Handel
5:19-5:26 Then, HENRY!!!! What's the idea of tricking Peter Sam like that?! That wasn't fair to him, and you shouldn't have done that! You ended up MAKING him nearly late anyway, as he had accidentally left the Refreshment Lady behind! And he had to stop for her to catch up and get on board! DON'T DO THAT KIND OF STUFF to other engines, you idiot kind of one (sort of like stupid Henry from Trainlover476's series)!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Apparently the refreshment lady was the engineer’s mother in law.
@@andrewrivera190 thats why he left her then 😃😃
I love Wilbert’s habit of giving the coaches names. Such a shame it didn’t last in the show.
i think its too confusing on tv
The guard said Peter Sam was impatient. But so was the guard (Awdry).
Another one of my favorite railway series stories
It's true, Peter Sam is based on Edward Thomas that used to work on the corris railway
5:01, I love William Rushton's narration but Carlin's Italian is so funny
Totally.

nityking1 Unless that station was her stop.

The line where Peter Sam called the coaches his deers is kind of romantic
Yeah & the coaches are fallen for him 💕
Peter Sam the lady's man. :p
I love 💕 four little engines 10
I LOVE 💕 PETER SAM IS CUTE ❤🎉
This is what I call a Tragedy of Impulsiveness, and I wonder what Peter Sam shall say to Henry when they next get together?

The whistle at the end of the story sounds similar to Smudger’s whistle
Henry: This won’t do youngster
Peter Sam: Youngster? We’re literally almost the same age
gently does it... WHAT DID HE SAY ?

Sober up! Lol did he have alcohol in his boiler?
No
Damien Le Maistre Because the driver was telling the fireman to sober up because he was drinking on the job
@@kernowpictures2002 let’s see a kids book from TODAY have that kind of dialogue and moment!
Sober up means "Calm down" or "Focus"
Even in the book, Henry still called Peter Sam a “youngster”, why? 🙄
Austin Schntiler. Probably because Henry is a standard guage engine and Peter Sam is a narrow guage. Technically peter Sam is much older than Henry
@@phoenixwolf15kamsieneda73 ikr? That's still annoying
x.x
Austin Schnitler Too right. It should be peter Sam calling him a youngster to be honest
@@drdestiny4933 oh really? Thanks for correcting me.
@@drdestiny4933 Henry: 1919
Peter Sam: 1920
Willie's right! Peter Sam is a male when he arrived at the Skarloey Rialway.
3:51 how to lose your ears without even trying
Peee-pe-pe-pe-pe-peeep!
Heath Whitley Roley disapproves
So wait, Peter Sam was originally red?

@FLYTRAP47 Well... [chuckles], I'm sure you get the idea.

Maybe he didn't mean to prank him and want Peter Sam to fall for it, but just found it funny when he unexpectedly fell for his small tease.
@@TheBrickGuy7939 Maybe, but I still think it was completely wrong.
@@arenjtumastens Yeah, he should have thought twice.
@@TheBrickGuy7939 Exactly.
@@arenjtumastens As much as I loved this story, I would like to see a aftermath story where Henry apologized for what he did.
