- Bhalu Gaad waterfall is a waterfall in the Nainital district of Uttarakhand. Its located off the road connecting Mukteshwar and Bhimtal.
Ideal for day treks, Bhalu Gaad is a hidden treasure in Mukteshwar, which shouldn't be missed. Drive 7 km from Mukteshwar to Dhari Village, from where the trek starts. It's a beautiful walk of around 30-45 minutes through dense forests and mountain streams. It's an exciting raw trek and in case you are not very confident, you can take a person from the village who can guide you to reach the falls. It's a paradise for nature lovers and bird watchers. The falls are about 60 ft high that fall in natural clear water pool. Come prepared with an extra pair of clothes so that you can have fun. Bhalu means Bear and Gaad means Stream in Kumaoni language. It's named such because of sightings of Bears (Bhalu) in the area. The place is not frequented by many travellers, but you might find many locals if you go on a weekend.

I had revisited in March 2019... The bridge was under construction then.. the adventure is gone now ☹️

It is wonderful place I have visited 3 time and waterfal has good flow in raining season. But its very deep also so be aware if going inside .

Regarding your question..
It is close to 15 kms from the famous rock formation (Chauli ki Jali) in Mukteshwar.
So should take around 40 mins to reach.. and then 30 mins of hiking.
