    • @EggheadFixers
      @EggheadFixers  Před 4 lety

      Sorry to hear that:( First you need to try what we call reseating the Hard Drive which means unplugging and then plugging it back in to make sure its not an issue with the connection. If that does not work then most likely your hard drive has died and needs replacing. Here is a video on how to replace your hard and install an operating system:

    Very good video, thank you! Unfortunately, my boot issues is unresolved. Started getting an error that the hard drive was not installed in my Latitude E5450. Swapped out for an SSD and the problem persisted. The diagnostic doesn't recognize the hard drive being installed either. Thanks for that tip!
    Could it be that the hard drive controller on the motherboard itself has failed? I'm going to open it up again and see if I can spot where the hard drive cable attaches to the motherboard next.

    • @EggheadFixers

      Grabbed my hd dock, popped the original drive in there. It works. Tried two other drives (same size, .5Tb) in the laptop and neither worked. Tried original drive, still didn't work. All drives worked in the dock. Even reseated the cable. I think the hd controller or the actual cable failed. Going to buy an external enclosure and set the laptop to boot off usb for now.

    • @rickdagrexican7351
      @rickdagrexican7351 Před 2 lety +1

      I can end on a positive note. Put the original hard drive in the enclosure. Plugged it into one of the USB ports and it started right up! Simple solution for anyone else who encounters this scenario. It would make sense that the most likely failure was either the HD connector cable or the actual controller itself.

If your model dell has a CD drive they have these CD Drive converters on ebay you can buy to convert your cd rom slot into a Hard drive slot. Grew up grew up in the eighties with an IBM PC then on to various XT and 286 clone computers and beyond. The last computer I put together is because I tried to buy one and they failed. I bought all the components and looked up enough information so that I could get it to work with really good performance. That was a year plus ago and and it's still running strong. • @EggheadFixers
      @EggheadFixers  Před 3 lety

      Yes it could mean that the port is bad but there are some other possibilities I would try. For example when you run the diagnostic does it read the new drive as there and working? Does it see it in BIOs? If yes then it could be a problem with the settings in BIOS. If no then it most likely is the SSD motherboard port issue. Also is the replacement SSD new? If not you could have another bad SSD.

      Yes you should be able to replace it with a SSHD or SSD without a problem. As long as you buy one that is compatible. Your info will not be on the new drive. If your hard drive is dead then sometimes you can get your info off of it by using a external hard drive bay but this will only work if the hard drive is not too dead.

      Does it happen when you are in Windows? Does it give you a couple minutes before it freezes up?
      Because if you can I would try checking your Windows logs. Windows logs every time it runs into an error and will give you the information you can google to see what caused the error. You can access these logs by doing this:
      You can do this by Press ⊞ Win + R on the M-Files server computer.
      In the Open text field, type in event viewer and click OK.
      Expand the Windows Logs node.
      Select the Application node.
      Now from here look for the date and time you had the blue screen. It should have recorded an event at this date and time with a red icon or yellow one next to it showing a problem. You'll recognize it because it looks bad. Click on one of these events. Down below it will give you an event ID number. You can google this to pinpoint what is causing the problem.

Everything was normal until i saw something like "Initializing PCIe..." and then i saw "Hard Drive - Not Installed." then i did what this video said to do, and i got it to work, BUT everything was running slower, and i kept getting random BSODs with it either being something with the microsoft shop or 0xc00000f.
