  • Here's a visual example of a 10 minute rotation for Viper with annotations to help explain the thought process.
    Each 2 minute window is chaptered for you to reference. Every window will look different from the previous.
    This rotation will change from fight to fight, but this standard rotation is enough to practice to get the flow of the job down. Let me know if you have any questions.

    Great vid, I had a question about dreadwinders and uncoiled fury. I know uncoiled fury is to be used during active downtime. But what about if in a perfect world there was full uptime? Do you spend all your stacks before serpent’s ire reaches 15 seconds cooldown? That’s the one part that confuses me. The reason I mention dreadwinder as well is because it has similar long recast time that can throw off gcd timings. I’m wondering how to go about this when aligning burst windows. Thanks for the help

    • @VerraXIV
      @VerraXIV  Před 15 dny +1

      Good question! Yes, in full uptime you'll want to spend all of your Uncoiled Furies every 2 minutes, since combined with the oGCDs it's 900 potency.
      With Dreadwinder and Serpent's Ire you generate 4 coils every 2 minutes so ideally you'd spend 4 every 2 minutes (the exception being between the 6-8min window) But you can move these around for alignment or downtime or whatever - it's extremely versatile (and my favorite ability in the game).
      You can spend these whenever is most convienient in your rotation - as long is it won't cause you to drop any of your buffs/debuff. Make sure those are refreshed first.
      Biggest thing is to not overcap your Rattling Coils because each one lost is 900 potency lost.

I’ve almost got my 10 minute down I just needed those small details so thank you so much for the quick reply!

    i got 3 questions if you dont mind asking cuz i need more clarification if thats okay ;-;
    1) do i use 1 reawaken every odd min and 2 reawakens every even minute? so we dont overcap?
    2) Is the double reawaken phase only during 2min and 8min?
    3) so do i not use pot during my opener? since you said your saving it for 2min and 8min windows
    im sorry im tryna make sure i understand when and how to use things optimally.

    • @leemontime
      @leemontime Před 16 dny +1

      1) Yes, but because of the resource generation, you'll likely have 2 reawakens at 7-min which is the only odd minute that has 2
      2) Double reawaken is during any 2 min after opener
      3) It really depends on the boss kill time and specific boss fights, but ideally that would be best because of double reawaken

    • @VerraXIV
      @VerraXIV  Před 16 dny +1

      Pretty much what leemontime said
      We do the double reawakens every 2 minutes because it's our hardest hitting abilities to put into raid buffs.
      The potion also is fight specific - depends on how long the fight is and how many you could fit in. Using it at the 2 and 8 minute puts more overall potency into the pot windows because of Double Reawaken - something we physically can't do in the opener. But if the fight lasts under 8 minutes, it would be better to use it in the opener and at the 6 minute instead and use it just after the first Dreadwinder
      if you have any more questions don't hesitate to ask :)

      In one of your previous videos you mentioned using Dreadwinder as a single target opener instead of a dual wield combo, why the change?

    • @VerraXIV
      @VerraXIV  Před 16 dny +1

      @gearsofwar07 delaying it lines up more hard hitting abilities under raid buffs, and rushing haste buff first makes those gcd's faster to get the damage out faster. it was a tentative opener when the Job Action trailer came out.
      It also helps our rotation line up better in the long run.
      there will be uses for it still in some situations but delaying it ends up doing more damage

    How do you know if serpents ire will land on a dual blade gcd that has a mandatory double weave? (i.e. 4 minute burst). How can I know ahead of time so I can hold my rattling coil? Or is this just something you know ahead of time knowing your own sks and assuming full uptime

    • @VerraXIV
      @VerraXIV  Před 12 dny +1

      For me it came with a lot of practice and noticing it consistently became a problem at specific timings when following full uptime priority.
      Holding a Coil isn't the only way to get around these hurdles, I just found it to be the easiest since it doesn't risk dropping buffs/debuffs. Viper is insanely customizable so you can experiement with what works best for you as long as it works (don't drop buffs/debuff/overcap).
      And timings will change at different skill speeds, so it'll be something to map out with practice or spreadsheeting beforehand if you wanna optimize.
      If you wanna experiment yourself, this spreadsheet has been a huge tool I use: docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/18haZwiTdqaNaKK3P6_n_i7uFp10c-cDT696owUaETPc/edit?gid=1149453378#gid=1149453378
      Hit File > Make a Copy, then in the stat box at the top of the spreadsheet you can add sks to get the GCD you want.
      Great question, I yapped a bit so let me know if I need to clarify

    • @VerraXIV
      @VerraXIV  Před 12 dny +1

      At the end of the day, drifting Serpent's Ire by 1 GCD isn't the end of the world. If you find yourself in that situation you can pop Double Reawaken immediately after pressing Ire to stay in line with raid buffs instead of the 1 dual wield GCD buffer. Just remember that timing will carry over for the rest of the fight.

    Why don't you just start with Dreadwinder? Why don't you just go Dreadwinder, Serpent's Ire, Swiftskin's coil? You have the same effect (speed buff) with 2 less skills.
    What's the thinking behind starting with Dread Fangs, Serpent's Ire and Swiftskin's Sting?
    Is the answer as simple as "to line up with party buffs" or something like that or is it more in depth?

    • @VerraXIV
      @VerraXIV  Před 3 dny +1

      Yep, it's exactly that. Starting Dread Fangs - Swiftskin Sting - Dreadwinder puts the 850p Hunter's/Swiftskin's Coil under raid buffs and increases those gcd speeds for better buff+pot alignment
      It's also more efficient Noxious Gnash application since you're losing the 10% damage debuff on 140p rather than 450p

    “Avoid using Dreadwinder 15 seconds before Serpent’s Ire.”
    I tried to figure out why on my own, but I’m not comprehending. Can you explain?

    • @VerraXIV
      @VerraXIV  Před 13 dny +1

      Sure! It's the easiest way to avoid dropping your buffs (haste/dmg + finisher) going into Double Reawaken since it takes ~22.44s to complete. Dreadwinder combo takes an additional ~7.65s, and has no available weave slots so that pushes you over 30s. So youu have about 10s to refresh both buffs and finisher which is doable but tight.
      You can definitely use it within that 15s window, but before you do make sure it won't cause you to drop buffs after your burst window or cause you to clip/drift Serpent's Ire

      @@VerraXIV I still dont get the dropping ur buffs part, wouldnt it be better to use it as late as possible so both ur buffs have a longer uptime after double reawaken is done? sorry for the dumb question

    • @VerraXIV
      @VerraXIV  Před 4 dny

      @@nebulas420 Not dumb! It'll be fine for your damage and haste buff sure, but it puts your combo finisher buff in a bad place depending on where you are in your dual wield combo. (apologies for the light novel)
      For example, if you complete a dual wield combo, then Dreadwinder with Ire coming off cooldown within that Dreadwinder combo, you'll be forced to triple weave Ire somewhere in there to stay aligned with buffs. If you weave it during Dreadwinder then you'll be late.
      Then look at timing. A full twinblade combo takes about ~7.65s to complete. Double Reawaken takes about 22.44s so you're at about ~30s since your last dual wield finisher. If you rush a dual wield combo, you'll refresh it with about ~4s left. So doable.
      But you won't always go into burst windows ending on a dual wield combo on its finisher. Sometimes you go in on the starter or buffing gcd. So if you do that, then you'll drop your combo and lose damage, and it would have been over 40s since your last dual wield finisher, so you lose the buff.
      And all of this isn't factoring potential downtime or Uncoiled Fury usage, which will push these timers back by ~3s for each use.
      So you can absolutely use Dreadwinder before burst if you know you won't drop anything or misalign, but you're making it infinitely harder on yourself to pull it off rather than just use Dreadwinder AFTER Double Reawaken to quickly refresh those buffs. This will also give you a chance to complete or extend an oustanding dual wield combo so you won't drop the finisher buff.
      Hope that make sense and sorry for the wall of text. Let me know if I need to clarify something
