    • @riversidewithme
      @riversidewithme  Před 3 lety +1

      Cheers mate, I appreciate it. If you want Sole, there's a mark called Farmfields, Newport...you fish it on very small tides and cast off the pete ledges. Any marks in Newport will get you Flounder and Bass...St Brides, Goldcliff and River Usk. If fishing the Usk, do so on small tides only. Plaice tend to be further west in clearer water... there's a mark called Three Cliffs Bay at The Gower. Park in the carpark and walk to the right where the sand is and walk down the cliff. Here you'll get Plaice, Flounder, Bass and Sole. Also Mackerel, Garfish and Wrasse on the lighter gear 👍👍

      Thanks mate, I appreciate it. Where I am in this video is about a 15 minute walk from where you park, to the left of the steps. I fished there because the tide was smallish and you get longer fishing there on the point. Although on a bigger tide you can fish anywhere along the seawall...park up next to the Seawall Tearooms, walk up the steps and pick your spot, nice and easy with very little walking involved...this area can be fished on tides between 10.3m and 11.2m. Any bigger and there can be a strong rip, any smaller and you're better off walking to the point where I was as more water. Cheers 👍👍

    • @riversidewithme
      @riversidewithme  Před rokem +1

      Hi bud. Where I was in this video is a 10/15 minute walk...this is the point to the left and can be fished on small/medium tides but not big tides as the rip is too strong, I would say max size tide of 10.8m (12.5m old scale). The bay itself which is literally just up the steps from where you park cannot be fished on small tides as not enough water but can be fished on tides say between 10.3m and 11.3m (12m to 13m old scale). Again, too big a tide here and the rip is harsh. Goldcliff is a bit like the Knap in that it can fish well the one day and be poor the next. There's no particular hotspots although I've always done better on the point to the left. Even further up is another point (see my 'Good for the Sole' video) and that's a 15/20 minute walk from the car but again, not too big a tide because of the rip. Hope that helps 👍👍

I fished a nice easy mark earlier in the week at Newton Beach in Porthcawl, snag free as you're fishing off sand and easy under foot, nice and flat. Parking is in the carpark just above the slipway. At Goldcliff, just up from the steps from where you park, there are some steps in amongst the boulders which could be a bit easier for you. Cheers 👍👍

      @riversidewithme  Před 3 lety

      Thanks Simon, glad you're enjoying the videos. Yes there's plenty of parking at the end of the road, next to Seawall Tearooms. Goldcliff is a funny venue in that one day it's on fire, the next day it's poor. If you're looking at getting back in to the swing of things, you might be better off going to St Brides (by Lighthouse Inn) or Barry way, such as Jackson's Bay, as there's a better chance of you getting fish. If fishing Goldcliff, don't fish the points on big tides as the current is very strong, instead fish in to the bay, right next to where you park. Cheers, Gareth.
