It can be super overwhelming to get an internship when you don't have the 'resume' with previous experience... which is funny because the whole point of getting an internship is to build the necessary experience for the full time job lol! So here, I help walk through how you can start finding and securing internships in a simple way for the beginners that be it underclassmen or anyone who is looking to get an internship :)
We all start SOMEWHERE. Don't give up, you got this!!

feeling super discouraged and tired of the internship process lately-- thanks for the encouragement!
I’m so happy this helped encourage you. I didn’t hear back about my first internship until April and know many friends who got it even as summer started. so don’t give up, you got this!!
So have you got an internship yet, I’ve started looking to find one, so it would be nice if you can tell me about your experience,
Great advice on networking - awesome video, Alexis!
Wth indeed is here!?
Will you stop sending me fake job recommendation Emails. Your website sucks
INDEED???
Alexis is now approved.
INDEED???
You need experience get an internship?Isnt that what internship is for since entry level job these days still require couple years of experience?Basically internship are the new entry level job lol.
It’s a paradox 🤣
Yea I did couple of interviews couldn’t land an internship because they require experience…… so I need internships to get experience and i need experience to get an internship 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Some internships i saw didn't require experience but you'd have better chances to land the job if you have experience (talking about programing) you can always gain points by making a game or making a website and stuff like that 😁.
Apex Predator
Not anymore. Internships aren’t about gaining experience anymore. Most internships these days are very classist and selective. They want those who have experience already, or who have the connections.
We so relate to this! That's why we built Menternships! Work experience projects for college students!

The best opportunity to get an internship is all about "who you know". If you know how to play golf, you're guaranteed to get internships. I've been getting young people internships because I know them and referred them to other colleagues in different companies. Sending out resumes is pretty much useless.
refer me please lol
I see
how do you recommend going about this? especially for full time students
@@monoinluv4894 My son, with ZERO work experience, is a college junior and he got several internship offers this past summer in Computer Science, Software Engineering, and software sales without sending out any resume. He became friends with people on the golf course and the people who work there told him whenever there are corporate events being held there. My son just showed up that day and tried to play if they were short on people which they often do. He got to know a lot of people and he hustled himself. He also happened to be a very good golfer so it is natural that those people would invite him back to play with them again and again. He was picked for the position over many qualified candidates with a much better resume than he did. In other words, it is not how much you know but who you know. He ended up accepting a position in software sales and was paid like $55/hour for a ten weeks internship. The company's Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) likes my son so much that the CMO personally asked him to come back for next year's internship and the CMO will personally mentor him.
@@adamscott796 your son have a good communication skill , i wish i have it😭😭, I'll try playing golf and some friends 😅 being shy wouldn't get me anywhere.
Thank you for this video! It was informative, realistic, and I liked the encouragement at the end of the video.
the whole point of an internship is to not have experience. So, if i understand corrct. the workforce experience charter goes something like this:
Graduate program/internship - 0years
Jnr/entry position - 1~3years
Standard Position- 2~4years
Snr - 5 years +
your voice is so calming
very helpful tips! will definitely be using these, thanks!
Hi Alexis,
Glad I found your video. I'm a 4th-year student at UW and I am going through some graduation anxiety right now and the tips you gave are super helpful and sorted out a lot of the confusions I had! Thanks!
I’m actually transferring there, please let me know if you have any advice. Hope you land an awesome opportunity.
love this sm also the intro! ❤️
Super helpful advice! Thx 🙏🏻
Hey Alexis I just wanted to say thank you for the insight as I got a lot go good information regarding how to seem more applicable for entry level internships that do not require experience.
Thanks for the content! This was a helpful video.
Love this glad I found your channel ❤️
Thank you, it gives me hope that I can be hired even if I don't have any experience.
Thank you for the tips, im a business analytics student in the Philippines.
Lot of work to do this summer!
For those wanting to go into specifically healthcare, lots of hospitals (even mine in the middle of nowhere in a small town) offer job shadowing!!!
Awesome advice your video really encouraged me to keep trying to network. I do have a question though I know you said it may be rude to mention that you are interested in a position first when connecting on Linkedin, but what if I said something like I'm interested in the internship and I noticed we went to the same college so I wanted to know your experience with the company is that still a bad way to put it?
The ,,nos" are not the defining factors of your value. You are and sound knowledgeable. Kudos
thank you so much for the motivation!
Yesss amazing video!
Thank youuuu !! 🥰🥰
Great advice and tips! 😊
I'm also a washington husky! Thanks for sharing this insightful video!
Hi Alexis - really great video! Can we share it with students on our website?
Video idea: Informational Interviews How-To, what questions to ask, following up, etc.
Personally, info int. are something I struggle with just getting started on. Obviously, I am curious about their position/them, but idk how to go on about it.
Love the idea, thanks for sharing!
thank you for this information
Hello I’m currently a freshman at UF and I feel like I really don’t have a lot of experience and my peers do, I just really hope I can get opportunities
Does anyone here have their personal experience because I feel so lost in everything
thank you so much!
Do u need a resume, when trying to get an intership at 16..just for experience purposes
when should you start applying?
i’m gonna be a senior in college next year. i’m worried i’m late in the game with applying for internships and gaining experience. do you have any advice for me? is it possible to have an internship during the school year?
Companies always want juniors and seniors.
Usually internships specify that they're looking for applicants 1 year away from graduating so you're right in the perfect time to apply!
If you are looking for an internship maybe I can tell you where I had my internship program. Consumerchoice (email: internship@consumerchoice.com) you can email them Jamie.
What about unpaid internships? What is your input on it? I honestly, would like to get a paid internship instead since I am looking for one after graduation.
the school i go to doesn't let anyone work at unpaid internships
Unpaid internships aren't always worth it.
If you're willing to work for free, why should someone pay you for work? It doesn't make sense to do an unpaid internship.
I must at least be able to afford my daily needs.
Quick question, I got accepted to an internship for tax and audit for a gov job, however they want me to work there for 3 years on contract. The thing is it’s a scary commitment and I haven’t even taken any tax or audit classes, I’m also barely transferring to a university. My gut tell me I should not sign it, but my brain tells me that it can be an opportunity, please help ❤️
I am not sure if this works in CZcams.....but commenting for better reach.
I want to know too!
Isn't the point of an internship to gain experience? isn't that why they are typically unpaid too?
Correct, but if you're lucky there are also some companies that would give you stipend as well
Anyone currently working for a remote internship that provides certification after successful completion of the term?
Is it possible for people who are not in school, self taught, to get an internship?
YES! I own a USA based company looking to hire 10 interns asap to work remotely from anywhere, or from our Costa Rica location. It's a partially paid internship that pays in USD. Ideal background is people who have experience with networking, social marketing, content creation, and event planning, plus an understanding of the mindfulness, new-age spirituality & metaphysical niche, and professional level English writing & speaking. You can visit www.thehedgehouse.com/interns if you want to learn more. But we're more interested in people who are able to demonstrate their skill regardless of education or formal work experience. Interns who can show they can self teach & learn new skills as they go is actually a skill we value and even specifically look for when interviewing! So don't give up. And keep self teaching!
Yes,being paid is wonderful but becoming proficient in a field of study is money in the Bank.
i got an internship for a software company but bro im a first year student and i no shit bout coding like how am i gonna do this why would they want a novice working for them that isnt really qaulified?

Hey ma'am I have seen your product manager video so have you done a degree in marketing???
Hi! nope, I do not have a degree in marketing. I have a have a B.S. in Informatics with a focus in cybersecurity :)
@@alexischoi4889 ma'am now I am doing my bachelor's degree in marketing so after completing that can I work as a product manager???
@@sahildeshmukh1462 It all depends on how you communicate and showcase your skills to the recruiter/higher manager that you have the skills of being a capable PM. So yes, regardless of what degree, it is possible to get into product management! Do you have time to do internships?
@@alexischoi4889 If you ask me I do. I am looking for Remote internships but unable to find one yet. I had participated and won a couple of Product case competitions till now. Any suggestions?
