Kind of funny that you posted a video about this after I JUST found your channel! I would consider myself a huge astrophobe, but I am also fascinated with the vast expanse that is the universe. The reason it scares me is just the sheer scale of the universe. It gives me existential dread and it makes me feel like I am just a tiny little ant living on our planet.

I always get anxious when traveling to some objects, like the Eagle Nebula and Andromeda. That's mainly due to the fact that I crank the speed up a few kilo-lightyears, and it's almost like a jumpscare sometimes. And once when I choose to fly forward away from Earth until I left the Observable Universe, and I was so nervous anticipating the inky blackness beyond.
I thought I could stay until I realized that Pluto is pretty chill in my opinion

my biggest fear is space. a still image of planets wont do anything to me but a video of us moving through space is actually terrifying. like... its endless and the void just never stops growing. things are absolutely gigantic. we are infinitely small and being stuck in space is literally the worst- you're basically a memory atp.
when youre exploring on space engine and clicking from one planet to another, i have to physically look away during that transition cs it SCARES ME SO MUCH. but space is so cool and interesting lol its kinda like the backrooms for me. i wanna know more but also, i dont wanna experience it

1:04 what makes this image a bit scary to me is the fact that emptiness remind me how the universe is mostly empty, how we are just sentient beings, on a planet and that whatever we do, we'll never reach another star in our lifetime, that we'll reach the other side of our galaxy, never reach another galaxy, that universe will one day be even darker... that... yeah I should stop, writing this messages makes it worse

its a combo of fearing nothingness and how huge things in space are or how large space is itself. Edit: also a mental and subconscious type thing

Can you try sleeping in vr and try to sleep of looking at solid black close to black hole while SpaceEngine is on and let someone to look at that black hole and let someone to go in it when the alarm almost going to turn off, I think you will be much more scared than your most scared life. Note: try to disremember the SpaceEngine for more you to get scared and try not to look at your red lines and the vr and the texts things or else you will tell that is SpaceEngine.
Note: try putting an alarm for you to wake up.
Note: let someone to wake up you before that person goes to that black hole.
Note: try ton-618 for more scary.
Note: it might feel very uncomfortable while you wear the vr. can you try to sleep as the best as you can pls.

I personally don't have astrophobia, but in my opinion astrophobic people are really the only people that can truly understand the immensity of everything in our universe, the horrors of just complete oblivion for billions of miles, and the fact that there are completely different worlds than our own (most of them being hostile to life) and completely different civilizations looking for us the same way that we are looking for them. When you really think about it, the universe is a terrifying place.

2:20 I have astrophobia and the reason I watch your videos is because it’s cool I’m just scared of going to space and running out of fuel or accidentally drifting off and I’ve heard you can’t do kinda a swim because there’s barely any air in space but I’ll loose everything if I drift off

i have astrophobia, and i really love your channel, but i get scare when i see a image of something BIG and when im REALLY CLOSE to something, i play space engine and im trying to lose my astrophobia, and its HARD, i always leave the game like 5 times and then i just enter next day, but its that :D

I have astrophobia in the sense that space travel scares me not the celestial bodies. When I was a tween, I visited the Kennedy Space Station and tried the space travel simulator. It tramautised me so much that even the DisneyWorld ride Mission:Space (orange mode) made me cry. I love space so much but I could never go because the idea of riding in a rocket up into space made me tear up.
it would take a quarter of a year to get to mars. So imagine staying in a rocket for 3 months.
for me i have astrophobia but only in the shower for some weird reason because i think of super saturns real size and scale to a human being so basically megalophobia
Suggestion: combine the terrestrial planets together to make a planet, do the same with the jovian planets and collide the 2 planets

What I personally find unsettling is the sheer scale of the universe. For example, the light year is a common unit of measurement on an astronomical scale and even one light year is about 6 trillion miles. The nearest star is four LY away and our galaxy is 105,700 LY in diameter. And that’s just our galaxy. There are likely billions of galaxies. Absolutely incomprehensible.

The reason people are scared of planets.. is because it’s.. irregular.. we start thinking of theories and our mind goes to panic mode. We were never meant to see these planets and now we can.. great detail and our brain just doesn’t connect it to anyone or anything
That’s why the images of Saturn scared the most people.. the rings and the shadow of Saturn makes it feel like.. scariness and a high threat level
