- This video covers 3 EPIC (& different) swimming holes in Northern Territory Australia. Excited to take you with us on the ultimate Australian adventure around the Top End!đŠđđŽđ„ As Dunc says, âweâre dippingâ all dayâ lol.
Welcome back to episode 33, our FINAL VIDEO in the Northern Territory before we head west to cross the border to Western Australia as we travel Australia on our big lap. Travelling the NT? You'll want to put these places at the top of your bucket list.
Key info:
KATHERINE GORGE & NITMILUK NATIONAL PARK:
The 1st gorge was closed as its getting close to Northern Territory Wet Season, so if we wanted to see the gorge (and not go on a tour) weâd have to hike 6km in the 40 degree heat to Butterfly Gorge. And Iâll tell you it was worth it.
- 6km in, 6km out đ¶ââïž
- 1st half of the walk has limited shade, but lots of free water stations đ
- Sign posted the whole way. No strenuous climbing, just looonng, picturesque đž
- Mostly croc free (was when we were there, rangers will advise if safe) đ
EDITH FALLS:
Breathtaking, DO NOT MISS THIS ONE! Itâs our favourite!!!
- Easy walk from the car park, which has loos / cafe / benches etc đŸ
- Bottom pool will be busier, head to the top pools for seclusion & EPIC falls! đ
- 1.7km walk to the upper pools, or 1km if you take the shorter route đ¶ââïž
- Lower pools mostly croc free, upper pools are croc free đ
- Camp onsite or free camp 10 mins away âșïž
KATHERINE HOT SPRINGS:
Lovely warm water, in the centre of town, pretty nice but missing serenity
- Easy walk from the car park, which has loos / cafe / benches etc đŸ
- Series of places to dip in. A bigger pool and a series of smaller đ
- Croc free đ
We stayed at Discovery Parks Katherine - a little out of town so we felt 100% safe. VERY NEW toilets, incase youâre interested. Located on the road to the gorge. Has a pool to cool off in. Nice.

As we travel Australia on our big lap, weâre coming to the end of our Northern Territory road trip and we canât wait to show you more of this sunburnt country and itâs coral reefs, 4wd tracks, beach camps, fishing spots, mountains, waterfall gorges and rainforests as we explore Western Australia. Vanlife baby!
Next stop: Lake Argyle then weâre off to free camp at James Price Point, Dampier Peninsula! Lots more travel vlogs coming...
Weâd like something to show the grandkids, so weâve set ourselves the task of making videos of our Australian travel adventures. Please consider writing a book. Whether it outlines your travel route or is a coffee table book of the incredible pictures and landscapes. It could also include some of the recipes you cooked along the way. Mark and I love watching your adventures đ
Hey! đ
Ha really? That is so kind of you to say so! I (Soph) would love to one day produce something beautiful like a coffee table travel book thatâs inspirational and useful, it would be such a fun project to put together! Who knows whether people still buy books but I love the tactile nature of flicking through them đ
Maybe one day⊠đ„°
Love the episode guys. You do such a fantastic job of your videos.
Canât wait to see the next episode
Cheers legends! That means a lot đ€đ€ howâs your travels going? Howâs Darwin?
Love your videos. It surprises me that more people haven't subbed. i found you from your FNQ island camp, and have followed since. Looking forward to your next vid. :)
Hey guys đ
Ah thatâs sick. How good is Russell Island?! Itâs gotta be up there with one of the coolest places to camp in Oz.
Thanks for messaging, it really does mean a lot to us. Ha, sometimes we wonder the same đ nah we donât do it for the views but weâd be lying if it didnât make us feel good haha.
Safe travels đ€
Another wonderful video. Cant believe how quiet everywhere was. Closing the park gates behind you each morning obviously helped. đ€Łđ€Ł We're looking forward to seeing your WA content. đ
Yeah weâve also taken to carrying around a portable âsaltwater croc seen, no swimmingâ sign. Works a treat. đ€đ
Weâll need to get one for âtiger and bull shark breeding zone, swimmers bewareâ for WA beach camps đ
@@IfNotNow that cage made it sink in i bet.
More top swim holes around Katherine for my next winter in NT, plus some healthy and nutritious foodie ones as well.
Thanks guys. Continue living your best life eh! Certainly beats being stuck on that âhamster wheel of lifeâ hands downđ!
