Use Curl Defining mouse to make it stay longer, and after wash day, MAKE SURE to brush your hair thoroughly, reapply conditioners and mousse. you could also use gel but i dont recommend.

You have to train your hair eventually it will hold. I had the same problem, now I'm queen of braid out and twist outs.
