This is actually the first video 've watched, introducing "the anamorphic world" in a way I can understand. It's still really complicated, but now I at least know a little bit more about the complication. It's difficult but also a lot of fun. You know, the good feeling of never stop learning new things😊
Thanks a lot.
You're welcome. Glad you could learn something from this video. Thanks for watching!
Wow,
"Choosing A Squeeze factor" Section was osm...
No one explained this in perfect way like you did.
Thanks Professor.
Hats off.
Glad the video was helpful for you. Thanks for watching!
Hola Josh. Thanks for this video. Great info. 👍🏻🏝☀️☕🌋📸
The best explanation I’ve seen so far. Thanks
You are very welcome. Glad the video was helpful. Thanks for watching!
Great video! Much needed!!
Thank you so much!
Great video dude!
Thanks Tyler!
Fantastic introduction to Anamorphic. I have two Panasonic cameras that can record in open gate and have got to try this some time. Very hesitant until I watched this video.
Thanks! Glad the video was helpful for you!
Thanks for making this video Josh! I was thinking about picking up one of these for fun and it's great to see such a comprehensive breakdown like this👊 A lot to learn when it comes to advanced optics....
You're welcome Jay! It was fun putting this video together and I hope it helps people get started with using anamorphics.
amazing explanation. Has been super helpful since picking up my anamorphic
Glad the video was helpful. Thanks for watching!
Great job! My understanding has certainly increased from watching you. My issue, like other 'budget amateurs' I suppose, is having a mixture of real (just one in fact) and fake (modified Russian) anamorphic lenses. The need is then to get these all looking like they belong together. I now at least have some idea of the challenge ahead. Many thanks.
You're welcome. Thanks for watching!
Very insightful thank you 🙏
You’re welcome. Thanks for watching!
Enjoyed the video, thank you!

Thank you so much Josh . I tried to like the video more than once but it’s not possible. But i gave my like anyway . I mean you deserve more for this really cool course .
You are very welcome! Thanks for the kind words and for watching!
Very informative video. Thanks
You're welcome. Thanks for watching!
Very good Explanation
Glad you liked it. Thanks for watching!
Thank You!!
You're welcome. Thanks for watching!
Fantastic explanation well done. The only thing you missed is why anamorphic came to be. In the 1950s as television threatened the movie business filmmakers were looking for a way to compete with the little square screen in every home. Great job!
Dude this was AMAZING thank you

Fansatic video!
Thank you!
Lol, I didn't realize that this was one of your vids! Thumbnail took like five passes on my feed to sink in. Thanks for the useful guide!
You're welcome. Thanks for watching the video!
I do have the XH2S (open gate). Do you know an anamorphic lense which doesn't break the bank and gives good results?
HELP! I desqueezed the video to 1.33. Seems OK on the camera but after downloading the video is not desqueezed? Can you please help me?
Desqueezing in camera is just for display purposes. On most cameras it doesn't bake the desqueeze into the recorded image. You need to do that in post like I mention in this video.
Thank you for this. I just picked a Sherpa for my iPhone 15 max pro. I love it. The learning curve has been how to edit it. This helps me out. I just put 3 videos up on my channel. Can you give me some input on them please? I am not trying to push my channel. I just want to do it right. Thank you.
Do you know how to change the aspect ratio inside fx3 I don’t see option for 16x9 tho
great tutorial but i have a question why black magic cameras have already anamorphic resolutions like 4096x1720 and 2880x2160 what can we do with it ?
nice video
Thanks!
21:55 only micro four thirds shoot photo with 4/3 ratio, the sony used as illustrations shoots photo with 3/2 aspect ratio
What if you shooting and using both type of lens anamorphic and spherical? I want use a spherical lens and match the anamorphic as well. Should I have my spherical in particular setting or should I do anything in post:? Or Can i leave it both at 16:9?
Different lenses have a different look. You will have to make sure you desqueeze and crop the anamorphic in post to match the spherical footage.
I think this framing looks fantastic! Not sure what the apology was about...
Thanks! I chopped off my head. I wasn't happy with it. Thanks for checking out the video!
Hi! I left IBIS during my shoot using SIRUI anamorphic. My footages are now wobbly. Is that normal or is there a way to fix that? Thank you. Shot on FX3 Active IBIS, monitor with ATOMOS
Ibis and in camera digital stab are bad news with anamorphic lenses, it can’t understand what it’s seeing on the sensor… turn it off, get a tripod or gimbal.
Hello, If you shoot with 1.6x anamorphic lenses in a 4:3 format what aspect ratio you end up with?
(4/3)*1.6
@@Josh_Sattin i dont understand!
why nobody's talking about wobbling effect with this kind of lens using ibis and how to fix it, does anyone noticed?
not a bash at all man, but hilarous to start an "anamorphic how-to video" out with a framing/cropping mistake, oh the irony! 😆 as always, appreciate the content m8!
Haha. Yeah I know. It's good to be able to admit your mistakes though. Figured it was better to just make a comment about it early. I really didn't want to reshoot the whole thing. Glad you enjoyed the video!
