Iestyn's voice is simply perfect and pure!
Exquisite. Utterly compelling and convincing singing - I really hope you do have someone who can soothe your heart, who can soothe your troubled heart.
Voice so pure, so fresh
The accompanist is Nicholas Ansdell Evans. We rehearse operas with pianos. Harpsichords are no replacement for an orchestra either, thus there is little pity in this version!
Rodelinda is at the top of my beloved operas... I know it by heart and listen it very often. I LOVE YOUR VOICE and the translation too. Thanks
Heartbreaking beautiful!
Omg! So beautiful 👏👏👏👏💗💗💗💗💗🔥
Me ha dejado sin aire. Muy buena interpretación.
Just lovely!!! Thank you for sharing this beautiful talent.
His Magnificent Performance Make Me Speechless.
This is simply phenomenal live- one of my favourite arias in the entire performance!
Just saw it live a few hours ago at the Met, and 8 years later, can confirm :)
Yes yes yes yes and yes I cried hearing this live
Amazingly beautiful. A real treat.
Beautiful!!!!
Lovely - very moving.
Csodálatos hang. Köszönöm.
I cry
I love this translation so much.
Touching!
i think i broke the like button
I feel enchanted
영혼이 맑아지는 목소리에요...ㅠㅠ
Beautifully sung. Congratulations on a wonderful Salomon which I have just seen at the Gulbenkian, Lisbon. I now wish I had gone to both nights!
Very nice voice, yes sir! Why did he not shine like this at the "Farinelli and the King's Farse? Did I just answer it? Raúl.
perfect
He was INCREDIBLE live in Rodelinda.
He's so awesome....
Stunning voice! Great singing! Bravissimo! "Dove sei amato bene" in English? Interesting:-) Thanks for posting.
Oh damn... Was not expecting it to be so high!
Goodness, Bless You!
sublime
❤❤❤❤❤❤ 4 EVA!!!
Très belle découverte lors de son interprétation de David dans l'opéra de Haendel : Saül
I think Andreas Scholl has the best version of this in the complete production of this opera on DVD.Kathleen Ferrier did a memorable version too -in English.
4:22 onwards sublime :D
Best counter tenor voice of the C 21st.
Is there a plan to release a complete performance on CD/DVD?
tristan1865 I wish, but unfortunately not - there is however a DVD of Iestyn’s ROH debut in Rodelinda where he plays the other countertenor, Unulfo and Andreas Scholl as Bertarido, which is absolutely beautiful
Hartverwarmend!
A little Covid-19 relief. Thank you.
It's so much better in Italian!
Kalo Arepo both language sound great
Kalo...There is some merit to that thought. Knowing what words mean makes it difficult for us to hear the words as pure sound. English speakers can never know what we sound like to foreigners when they hear us talk. And not understanding the words of songs sung in an unknown language helps us hear the pure sound of those words better than if we knew the meanings.
The same principle holds true for vision as it does for hearing. When you are drawing a cup, for example, that is turned upside down, you see the lines, curves and ellipses of the cup's shape more clearly than if the cup were right side up. Right side up, you draw what you know about a cup rather than what you SEE. In both cases, familiarity alter perception.
Fabulous…and the sensitive accompanist is?
While he doesn’t sound quite like a castrato (no one does though) he is the the next best thing.
Gorgeous but what happened to Art thou troubled, music shall calm thee?
SE VEE TAN GUAPO,ES EL CONTRATENOR MAS GUAPO Q EH VISTO JAJAJA
Beautiful song, beautifully sung and beautifully accompanied on the wrong instrument. Pity.
Nice voice, but did it jar! I support Tito Gobbi's eloquently expressed indignation at the effect of translating what the composer intended into a less felicitous language. (His World of Italian Opera,1984)
I don't listen to castrato s
He isn’t a castrato, he is a countertenor.

How do you know?
@@JR-db3qi 1. Just listen to him he is singing in falsetto 2. His speaking voice is lower 3. He has facial hair 4. He has none of the bodily deformities associated with castrati 5. He says he is a countertenor. Need I go on.
And WHO nowadays listens to castrati?! We are living already in the 21st century and there are no castrati but countertenors now if you forget it :-)...
A BIT shrill y at times ,,,streched, forced. This IS after all falsetto/false check out The Great Andreas School in the role of Bertardino from Rosalind
Unbearable affectation.
