It’s not about how many songs The Weeknd gave drake or how much of TC he wrote, it’s the sound! Drake didn’t have that dark sound before or after TC. Take Care is a whole damn mood much like the trilogy mix tapes.
It really doesn’t matter at the end of the day because Drake still went to release great albums after that like NWTS and IRTITL (some songs have co-writing from Quentin Miller which he is credited with before you scream Ghost Writer)

What really happened is anyone’s guess but when I think about it, it just seems like Drake wanted to use Weeknd for a business move or branding which Weeknd did not agree with because it was not related to his brand. Drake’s brand is about being a loud and bold rap star behind a gang (OVO) which is not at all of what Weeknd’s brand was. His brand was about being as quiet and low key as possible and Drake’s brand (especially now) is the exact opposite of that
