    I work at a muffler shop and even when it says 2.5" or whatever inside diameter the 2.5" outside diameter doesn't fit in and I have to take it to the hydrolic machine so these are pretty nice but take long and if you over do it you can always expand the other piece as long as it doesn't crack.

      I am looking at getting the hydraulic punch kit harbor freight sells which will allow me to convert this to hydraulic, we'll see how it works. For as often as I use this it works just fine... Way nicer then the old-school expander...

    nice job, when you said you were going to expand the stainless steel I was doubtful that stuff is tough as hell.

      I eventually got it to expand BUT it took a lot to get it to go...There is another video showing the ordeal...😂👍 Thanks for watching and commenting...

      I’ve considered buying a kit like this several times. Just haven’t pulled the trigger because the cheap parts store one I tried was not good. Thanks for review!

      Definitely not like the traditional style pipe expanders. Last time I went to the parts store to rent an expander they wanted $85 I think, and even though you get that money back I thought it was a ridiculous amount to rent a tool so I bought this instead! Definitely a tool you will use and say "I wish I bought it sooner! " Appreciate you watching and commenting 👍

    ha ha, i was curious if you will even try to stretch inox, i finished with exhaust: AISI 316 42.6mm OD, 1.6mm wall, and AISI 304 70mmOD, 1.6mm wall, and i had cheap tool that only could stretch copper seal ring that i made from copper pipe, only way that i managed to make detachable join was to use sleve/journal pipe over basic pipe and fix it with screws

    How about taking a torch to the pipe and heat it up to make it more malleable and try to expand the pipe at the same time , what you think ?

    • @ChallengeTheBuild
      @ChallengeTheBuild  Před 11 měsíci

      So my thought about adding heat would be that it would probably compromise the rubber bands of the expander that hold the dies... Good question though 👍👍 I did think about this question when working on this...

    • @johnbassett8568
      @johnbassett8568 Před 11 měsíci +1

      I was sleeping on it and then thought about the o-rings on the colletts might melt if hot 🔥

      You could probably cut 2 slits in the pipe and get it to move easier

      @@ChallengeTheBuild copper rtv & a GOOD clamp seems to be the best way to seal exhaust without a weld
      I used 2 pry bars with the 2 slits and dented a pipe. Now I got to take the pipe off and widen it so it can rotate when slid all the way onto the header 👎

    Should also use safety glasses. Those hardened ends could shatter. I had a piece of hardened material shatter and get stuck in my cheek. Thanked god it didn’t hit my eye and been wearing safety glasses every time since.

    Excellent video buddy. But don't use a gun or a bar. Get a 10t hydraulic pull / hole puncher. The bolt on the puller is the same as the threads on the expander. Use both together and you have a hydraulic pipe expander. The expander I got on offer at £50 and the hydraulic hole punch I got for £58 .. £108 for effortless colettes. No power or batteries required.

    why dont you put a slit in the end of the pipe then expand it :)

    • @ChallengeTheBuild
      @ChallengeTheBuild  Před 6 měsíci +1

      That would have definitely helped... Part of the reason why I didn't was, I wanted to see what it would do or what it would take to stretch the stainless with out heating, cutting or any other aid. 🤷‍♂️. Needless to say any other time I will cut a slit.👍👍

    • @JG-kv4oi
      @JG-kv4oi Před 5 měsíci +3

      Put a slit in the end of the tube and then expand it?....Unless if you're only expanding it a small fraction of an inch it'll split at the slit, it's the weakest point.
