Alex Newell is such a star. I was introduced to them by Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist and god, what a talent!! They deserve every success! Ben Platt is also very talented but I do think the DEH movie was a BIG miscalculation, as it made his nepo baby situation significantly more obvious. He deserves all the awards he’s received but they waited too long for the movie and casting him was a disservice to the material.

Ditto. Ellen Greene's performance (from nearly 40 years back!) IS the gold standard in this role! From her blonde bubble beehive to her charming manner of speech which carries over into song and her vocals, from timid to gutsy, pure gold. Alex Newell does bring a bit of bravado into the performance, a powerhouse all the way!
