Porthmadog, First WHR & Ffestiniog Trains at Remodelled Station 22nd March 2014

  • Congratulations! the first Welsh Highland and Ffestiniog share the new platform at the remodelled Porthmadog Harbour Station. The trains ran late because of problems with permissions from Network Rail to cross the Cambrian Coast Line just north of Porthmadog as this section of line is currently closed and is being repaired after the severe winter storms.

    I'm so confused by this, it's a long way from where I live so I'll probably never see it. Can you run one train from one end of the Ffestiniog to the other end of the WHR? Or is it two separate lines joined by a station?

      +LongStripeyScarf It's done a couple of times a year, but otherwise the two lines have different loading gauges so they are run separte.
