I'm a newbie but I think e4 is the best opening move for white.

I think otherwise. 1.e4 leads to middle games that I prefer compared to the other main opening moves, but I still think it’s a little weaker. First, if Black know very well what they are doing, I think they have an easier time drawing the game (Berlin defense, Marshall attack, Petrov defense...). Second, there’s the Sicilian defense that many players, myself included, have a hard time playing against.

I think when you're starting out, it's best to start with 1.e4 because it presents the most challenges, tactically speaking. Not that tactics don't arise with other openings, but they arise in the middlegame usually.
