That turtle is just like the one I made in ceramic class in high school (1975). I still have mine!❤
The small round thing is for your finger on one hand when you cut off a piece of cheese from a large chunk. Keeps people’s hands off the cheese chunk. It’s pretty handy!
The China dish is over 100 years old. They started using that style of mark around 1889 and stopped around 1920. The items were marked China when exported.
Schoolhouse antiques is down the road from goodwill and a right turn at the light in the center of town.

My sister did one of those turtle planters in ceramics class circa 1973-76.
That turtle planter is epic! If the internal bowl is unglazed, it's for plants like African violets - the water slowly seeps through the pot. I look for them everywhere, and have never seen one this cute!
I live on a farm in the boonies, so to speak in ND, so I have to get creative to source here. I googled all the thrift within a 300-mile radius and have found items that you don't find at the goodwills and stuff that you do for a lot less money and with nicer employees. Never pass on the smaller mom & and pop shops they sometimes have the best stuff.
That turtle plant is actually an African Violet pot, water goes in bottom and cup absorbs as needed. Love that turtle!!

Jocelyn, really glad you went to the first thrift shop and scored the amazing turtle planter. As for the rudeness of the woman at the checkout in the Goodwill, I don't know how you kept your cool but good for you because it is not worth it to engage with people like that (I am saying this to myself as much as I am saying it to you lol) as they pop up everywhere and can really get to you. Some people just seem to think that the rules that apply to everybody else don't apply to them. I have no idea why but it is really frustrating. Keep your cool and your dignity at all times as you always do. Thanks for another great video.
Oh my gosh. I had a lady try to cut into line at a gas station. She was in another line not close to me. Thought she was gonna Bully me but I moved into my place as next. She said I was rude. What is wrong with people?

I had to laugh, my last visit to goodwill had a similar line cutter, who had a credit card issue. Then they wanted to return something that cost under $5.00 they bought on their card. The cashier was very flustered and about 20 minutes later they called a second checker only to have the person behind me get served first. I was about ready to walk out but had a a Fenton ruffled dish and beautiful teak bowl....only $10 I waited....

Jubilees are nice, they are ministry based shops, the Lebanon store is 2 floors, Myers town is small but I’ve found some nice things there and the wernersville store is good size. Manheim store is nice also. If you donate $20 towards their prison bags you get a coupon for 25% off your next purchase.
Yep… I rarely give a place a 3rd chance. Sometimes I’ll wander back like a year or two later just to see if it’s still bad, but there are so many other places to go! 🤗💕

Oh, man, I felt like I scored the winning touchdown at Goodwill today. They were actively stocking the shelves, and when I got home and started removing price tags, I realized that most of what I bought was either JUST put out, or on the shelf for less than two days. Spent $100- got a lot of nice things for our house, plus a nice pair of boots and some random tops. Best Super Bowl ever. 😁
I have been to the Palmyra Goodwill three times, left totally empty handed three times. No hard goods, no purses, no clothing, nada. I too am done.

Yes, lots of small things BUT you need those small things for your Whatnot sales, so it works out to not only be cost effective for you, but great for your customers when it comes time to pay shipping because of that thing about buying a small item first to get a break on overall shipping cost! I didn't explain it very well, but I think you get my meaning! 🙃

I feel ya, I sometimes go thrifing & find 25 things. Other times, I find 1. It definitely hit or miss. Keep on keeping on.

I live in Palmyra and when you said you were going to the Goodwill I was so excited to hear your opinion! I laughed at all your comments because I agree whole-heartedly! I think they got a new manager a few years ago and it’s so expensive now… and no goodies. I suspect they sell on-line. I won’t donate to them anymore. Jubilee and Blue Mountain are great!!

I have three Goodwill stores that I go to regularly, but there are a few others I've been to that I don't go to anymore. One had good current merchandise, but it want vintage. It is also pretty far away. So, I stick with stores near older, affluent neighborhoods to get the donated merchandise that I want.

One of my favorites in the area is Jubilee - just down the road from Blue Mountain. Not huge - but some amazing finds and great prices.

@11:50 Cheese thing is a block of cheese holder. So if you have a cheese board this holds the cheese so you can cut a slice.
That glass thing with the three prongs on it is to hold your chunk of cheese steady while you cut it.
Super Bowl commercials stunk this year, and half time, I turned it off and watched this!!

My grandma did ceramics and we have two of those turtles. She had kind of a turtle collection so those I still use on our porch every year. I repainted one because it wasn’t glazed yet

I get concerned when you have issues with other shoppers…….sometimes that just the way it is.
That fiber optic flower light in the bin is worth 50 to 60 if it works.
Unfortunately, a lot of vintage ceramics and even glass, like the bowl you found with a warning, contain lead (for ceramics it's in the glaze or paint). I had to rethink all my vintage Made in Japan which is known to have high concentrations :(
I used to hand that myott meakin set of dishes several years ago. Pricey when I bought it retail.

An elderly lady cut ahead of me a long time ago. The cashier took her time checking her out. The old lady kept shooting dirty looks at me. She cut in line, not me.

I think thrift stores are much better then Goodwill. Here in northeast Pa our Goodwills are pretty sad.

Do you have any DAV stores there? I love shopping there cause they have .25, .45 and .95 cent stuff. A lot of it is 2.98 and they do have pretty good stuff sometimes. No loud music and it's a little busy but most people are so nice and I love donating to them.
