- We tested a $100 Temu supercharger on my Miata drift car and blew the motor: • $100 TEMU Supercharger...
So this time we upgraded to a $300 supercharger from Amazon. In this video we build a bracket to attach the supercharger to the Miata engine, build a belt tensioner, install some Raceland coilovers raceland.com/ and take the car for a test drive.
Part 2 is now live :) • $300 Amazon Supercharg...
This is the supercharger we used (may be out of stock currently) amzn.to/446wv5f - Auta a dopravní prostředky
I like these low low budget experiments especially when they actually work out.
I hope this one works out!
I think this car would be a perfect candidate for a rebuilt junkyard M90 supercharger.
We have one on the shelf in case this one blows up 😁
@@The.Rad.Factory awesome!!!
Just did some digging on these and apparently they put out about 1500cc the same as an m90 but a lot more compact. Intercooling it is recommended since they’re so compact they produce a lot of heat. From what I read, they’re pretty reliable and have magnetic clutch’s for on off supercharger function, can be wired to only comes on at wide open throttle etc pretty neat little superchargers. I’m about to buy one.
@@Soul_Popper intercooler arrived yesterday! Stay tuned 😁
@@The.Rad.Factorythink it will work on a d16 Honda or better yet a k24 not turning much more than 7000
The Aisin AMR supercharger rotors aren't plastic, they are Teflon coated. The same applies to the Toyota SC12 & SC14, they are Teflon coated. Spinning them too fast, generates a lot of heat - which causes the Teflon to delaminate.
The supercharger you've installed is a Toyota sc14 which displaces the same as an Eaton M90. Try to keep the SC14 under 15,000 rpm and it won't delaminate. The biggest upgrade to a supercharged engine is to install a set of headers. For a supercharged engine the primary pipe size should to two sizes about what is normally used for N\A - 1.75 inch primary pipes into a single collector should do the trick.
The supercharger should be governed - Toyota used these on the 1G-GZE and the throttle body was in front of the supercharger, the ducting then ran through an intercooler before entering the engine. Of course its your car, so do as you please. This is just a bit of information for you to gain some insight as to what you have bought.
How do we figure out what rpm it spins at? We definitely plan to use an intercooler but had planned to keep the throttle body in stock location after supercharger but use a blow off valve in between.
@@The.Rad.Factoryyou can figure that out buy measuring the diameter of your pulleys

No there is a bunch of goofs throwing actual plastic rotors in them
Yea I build blown cars to buy the way and idk asin prob ain't the way to small
I'm definetly not an expert with superchargers but maybe putting an intercooler would be a good idea, main reason not to cool the air but to filter out the plastic pieces in case something bad happens. Love theese budget builds tho
Yep great minds think alike! It arrived yesterday so stay tuned!
Dumb idea just add another wheel
An intercooler is just open piping with cooling fins essentially 😂 not going to “filter” anything
@@terenceih193736 the plastic chunks that came off the last one were pretty big, but yes we're going to add a screen as well
Or just add a second supercharger
30 seconds in and I can already tell this channel is going to BLOW up! Subscribed
That means so much! We just hope our engine doesn't blow up too :)
Yeah, and the lowest quality supercharger will surely smoke the motor and itself into oblivion.
Amaz.... sells so much disposable junk.
what about putting a screen between the supercharger and the intake so in case the fins shatter it won't mess up the motor.
Put an intercooler on that so it catches the fragments if the rotors explodes and also dump valve in pressure side is recommented so it dont cause too much pressure when coming off the throttle, done that on volvo engine before.
Yes! That was my thinking too! Intercooler arrived yesterday stay tuned!
@@The.Rad.Factory i will, this seems like interesting project👍
That also helps save the rotor coating by having the bypass valve
Get some stainless steel wire mesh and put between the supercharger and the intake to help keep the plastic from going into the engine.

Definitely favorite new channel you guys rock keep it up you guys don't get the credit you deserve twin turbo LETS GO
An M90 supercharger used is super cheap and easy to find on marketplace or even ebay. MUCH more reliable and likely less than the $300 you spent! Best of luck tho!
yes but no one would watch
He does it for views and it’s pretty cool to try a cheap ishleecharger
People watching want to see a cheap solution that actually works IMO. That way they can do it too.
But what’s the fun in that lol
From a fist too two fingers sound like an upgrade
This is awesome I can’t wait for part 2! Definitely subscribing
Been eagerly awaiting this video!
“While I am crazy, I am not insane.”😂 Same 💩 different day over here too guys💀
Put a screen on the out put side. To prevent the problem from last attempt
Just add like a turbo filter net for u can catch the plastic pieces before it go in the engine just in case
Started watching thinking you had hundreds of thousands of subscribes not 5k! Keep up the good work!
We appreciate that! Hopefully one day!
This is the first video iv seen from this guy ..dose anyone else get mark weins vibes off this dude it like mark started a car channel
how do yall only have 7k subs!! this is great content!
Well it makes all the right sounds, good luck with the next steps!!!😎
It sounds even crazier with the blow off valve I can’t wait for you to hear it! New video hopefully drops on Thursday!
Look forward to seeing the video y’all made up in Switzerland today. It was nice meeting y’all guys 🤙🏼
Awesome meeting you too,I'm glad you found us. Lawnmower video will be out early next week!
The most scuffed supercharged Miata setup. I love it 🤣
What would those plastic rotors you should decide to put in some kind of fine mesh net behind them so if they break they get caught before they get into the engine
Amazing to me they even bother with plastic of any type, the case casting makes me think they could manage the rotors also. Wonder the internal RPMs of it.
Raceland is the best bang for the buck. I put a full set on my XB and it corners like a dream.
A few years ago I installed a supercharger from a Mercedes compressor in a Miata 1.6 it made 165 hp in the dyno..
We saw an article about that and it helped a ton with our build! Hopefully we get close to those numbers!
Those raceland coils are really good I ran them on my g35 drift build they were perfect
Yeah! I love them!
Yoooo that’s RAD and I’m stoked to add mine now 🎉🎉
Heck yeah
I cant believe you guys only have 5k subs got mine so i can say i was there when you touch 1million. Also i love long videos like VGG PBG and junkyard diggs put out. Btw.
Really appreciate that! The next episode will definitely be longer, thank you for the feedback!
This video blew up for yall please make more of these
We definitely plan to! What should we test next??
@@The.Rad.Factory I’ve always wondered if a bottle of oxygen the ones used for medical would make extra hp on a car
Is the front portion of the supercharger pulley a v-belt groove?
Here is a simple rule of thumb. The more friction the more heat, heat kills parts and power.
Copy that
This is a beast ngl
Car guy version of Mark Weins
Hi I'm Mark
Id put a mesh screen between intake pipe.. almost like the screen for turbos thst dudes put when they run no air filter
Good thinking!
9:42... The perfect, "that's what she said."
Maybe install a mesh screen in the line to prevent the FOD from entering the engine?
K, first video for me on this channel and I am here for it, let’s goooooo
Welcome aboard!
Maybe you should put some kind of a screen between the supercharger and the intake for the engine that way any plastic does break off it gets caught in the screen rather than in a motor
that's the plan!
Awesome thanks 👍
The ultimate drift car chassis would have open wheels or sculpted fenders so that the chassis center of gravity could be located below the center line of the axles like in Formula One or Indianapolis Speedway cars with narrower tires that are made to have reduced traction obviously there would no way possible to flip such a car unless it impacted and object and flipped. Also no body roll occurs when the center of gravity is inline with the center line of the axles or below it so no need for better roll bars ect...
On my Dyers 671 supercharger i was told to run my belt a bit loose. Turns out that's correct as the belt, counterintuitively, tightens up as it heats up.
Running too snug it then tightens up enough to put tension on crank pulley which in turn can cause main bearings to wear more heavily leading to early engine failure....
At least on a street driven ride like my pink '64 Corvette ProStreeter.
rick in Tennessee.
It’s like those middle eastern videos where they replicate, then forge the SC housing out of molten aluminum, and probably 3D print the rotors. 🤦♂️ and you paid $300 for it. 😂
Oh, forgot about the sand blasting to make it look nice. They have lots of that there 🤣
I doubt it puts out enough for your engine but its fun to watch and I will probably do a similar mod to my Kubota diesel.
Part 2 comes out next week and I promise you will be blown away 😊
Don't forget to put window screen on the side that pushes the air in the motor so if it does fall apart your not getting pieces in the engine
Yes! We got an intercooler also! Should have plenty of protection!
Yes yes yes, this is totally a great option to saving the engine from getting destroyed!!! It is also how its done on the Detroit 6V71 (which is where the 6\71 supercharger originated from).
@@DISCOSHOEBOX I did it to my friend car and if it wasn't for the screen I used it would have been sitting as yard art and we were just running a turbo that blew apart
It's always the coils 😊
That blower sounded scary dangerous, it’s going to blow up with in the first 10 hrs of run time..
Man I can't wait till camera manufacturers come out with some sort of image stabilization.
me too
@@The.Rad.Factory :)
Raceland coilovers and epic in the same sentence. Not something i ever thought id hear
We love them!
Do you need fuel injected in blower feed air to cool and lube the rotors??
I don’t believe that’s how they do it for Miata’s but I’m not certain
You should take out the plastic parts and 3D print the parts in metal to see if that makes it better.
10:40 is when it starts.
Amazons always got your back😂
It’s true!
Plastic next to exhaust!?! GL
Im curious. When r u guys gonna finish it to see if it gets results?
This week! Stay tuned!
It looks like a direct replica of the Toyota blowers from the late 80's so it should be good for something
This must be a baby Cleetus channel. That’s OG Leroy’s over seas cousin Lēi luō yī🤣🤣 that was too funny🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
😂
The pulley on the blower is bigger than the balancer pulley, lol..that’s so funny..
I put a amr500 and a 46mm Mikuni on my wifes 84 subaru GL. I loved it right up until it tore up all the front end drive components (ate the hubs and destroyed a shaft). It originally only had 76hp and the carb and SC are both rated to 150hp. Honestly I'm not sure what its making but the bottom end grunt is fantastic. Now I just have to retrofit modern knuckles and suspension into the old girl to get it back on the road.
84 GL!!!!! That was my wife's first car!!! I remember visiting my cousin near Lake George, NY, and I had to keep that puppy in 1st gear just to make it up the hills!!! 😮 Hahahaha 😆
@@johnbutera5805 Imagine it with a small supercharger just below the hood and a large 1bbl carburetor from a big bore Harley sticking out of the hood with a cone filter on the front. It has enough bottom end grunt now that it can break the front tires loose in second gear just by rolling into the throttle. Apparently the front hubs aren't made for that much torque though...
@@jameshathaway5117 NOT only the hubs, but the transmission was weak, too!! 😮
@@johnbutera5805 yep eventually I will have to go to a newer transmission. That's part of the reason I'm retrofitting new components. Anything that breaks gets replaced with newer stronger components until things quit breaking. Fortunately it is a front wheel only version so the transmission isn't under quite as much stress.
Sc14 rotors are "Teflon" coated. Perfectly good superchargers
Hopefully it lasts! Our amr500 blew teflon chunks into the motor immediately
@@The.Rad.Factory i don't know much about the amr500 from temu but around here i know about multiple cars running amr500 setups (tho they used amr500s out of japanese kei cars) and they have been quite reliable. but yeah amr500 are for pretty small engines (the cars that run them are around 1l to 1.2l at most), having correct peripherals (bypass valves are needed) and reducing heat is the key.also that inlet and outlet on those amr500 are very restrictive people here remove them and make their own.anyway looking forward to the next video maybe try an genuine amr500 on and small displacement car.
Right next to Aurora central is crazy
Can't wait to see the next one
coming soon!
@@The.Rad.Factory how soon ? I have bad ADD
@@gunfupanda102 I'm really hoping 2 weeks. we have to install new injectors, fuel pump, ecu, intercooler and piping, sensors. then get it tuned and schedule dyno time. and that's if nothing goes wrong. We do have some great content coming out in between though!
Given what happened last time, I would have though you two would have at least had the foresight to go to walmart or something and get some window screen to make an intake protector screen in one of the couplers before the throttle body.
This is probably going to Rob More power than it makes not to mention an air restriction. It would be a good idea to take the charge pipe off where it connects to the charger and make sure that the holes are the same size and if not poured it out also probably wouldn't be a bad idea to Port the exhaust side either to match the diameter of the exhaust so you're not creating a air restriction. Also probably be a good idea to add a screen or a intercooler so if it does fly apart it doesn't go straight into the engine and you need a boost gauge you can always change the pulley size to make more boost
Interesting build thats for sure 😂
🤘🏽
I have one on my lawnmower...cuts the yard in half the time...damn octane boost tho...
Why not make shift a filter to put in the intake side? So if it blows up again
That’s the plan!
finally sc14 supercharger
Wtf half the charger is bolted to the engine that moves , and half to the solid frame rail.😂
Definitely need a c230 kompressor on it

You should put in a screen to catch the broken plastic.
so how is it working properly when its not pushing the air into the motor only towards the firewall?
We had to test and make sure it wouldn’t explode plastic into the engine like last time. Like we mentioned in the video the next video will have it all hooked up. Things just take time
@@The.Rad.Factory ok makes sence
HEY. HEY. How dare you. If you are gonna work with angles and dangles you cant forget about mr bojangles! 😂

add the supercharger that is in the toyota previa. They are around 300 on ebay and last a long time.
This is that supercharger 😊
whoop! Dunno how I ran across this channel, but TOO FUN! Makes me wanna grab one of my worn out 302's and stuff a supercharger on it just to "see" .. Should Be fun ..

YOU KNOW HOW TOXIC ZIP TIES ARE AND DUDE HAS ONE HANGING OUT HIS MOUTH LIKE IT'S A PIECE OF HAY GRASS......
Damn thing sounds like my riding mower!
Neat
Dude why don’t you use an m62 supercharger off an slk Mercedes
They only cost about $350-$400 bucks and are about the same size as the amr supercharger
An M62 displaces 2\3rds of the supercharger they are currently using.
Might not put out quite the same cfm but you also don’t have to worry about the internals shredding like the sc14 did
the belt should only be able to push in 1in with slack
I just actually want to know if you could definitely mount it on a 650cc Scooter From Japan
no it's too big. you'd need the smaller one that we used in the first video. also small motors like that don't have external pulleys to hook a belt to so there would be a lot of work involved.
A bypass valve will relieve boost when TB closes.
That’s the plan!
Aye man I don’t know why you getting so much hate but keep up the good work 👍🏽🔥
haha we're always up for a spirited discussion, most people don't understand the amount of work these videos take. We appreciate you! good stuff coming!
by the sound of the pitch it need a smaller pully x5
Mercedes compressor electric superchargers work pretty good. I mean it worked on the old mr2
see if you can find a used toyota sc14. You can clutch it on and off w. 12v and it spins both ways. the amr500 style blowers are usually a bit too weezy and only good for 50 hp at the most.
This is a Chinese knock off sc14. No clutch but very cheap 😁
What I think might of happened, was welding on the motor without unplugging the coilpack and module it fried it
Ahh that’s a good point
i love the content
thank you!
You gotta dyno before and after to see if it actually changes
That's the plan! stay tuned!
I'd take it apart, and have the plastic pieces machined from metal. Then reassemble using the metal replacement parts. Fingers crossed 😅
please let us know when you do! we'll help test it
Watermeth injection before supercharger so to keep it lubed and cool
Do they have that on Temu?
Why did I glance at your thumbnail and think Mark Weins became a mechanic lol

I really don't think the guy with the pink leopard print with blue glasses as wrenching
I'd put a screen between the supercharger and throttle body.
We are adding an intercooler but I will try and find a screen too!
@The.Rad.Factory if you are turning it down to go into a front mount, I don't think it will be an issue. If yall need anything fabricated, or laser engraved in the future, let me know. Us CZcamsrs need to stick together.
Why not run a a screen filter in some of the intake tubing to avoid plastic chunks
We got an intercooler to filter. Stay tuned!
