- 4wd Awnings are more popular then ever. When you head out off road, having an wing awning fitted to your 4x4 means you have a quick shelter no matter where you stop on the beach or at camp.
But with so many wing awnings available, the 30 second awning, foxwing, gull wing, to name afew, how do you choose!? in this video we talk about what I believe is one of the best 180 degree wing awnings on the market.

OMG i thought the same thing the very 1st time i saw one of his vids.
LOL... That went well. "Something must be wrong." Love the vids.
I love your style mate fresh and honest love how you give the price as well keep it up my favorite youtuber by far
NO STICKER,no sale.
Really enjoy the videos, easy to listen too.
Some of my most favorite memories are of camping in WA when I was a kid. We moved to Texas & camped but it’s hot humid & not quite the same we have a camper now that we are older Thank you so much for all that you share ..
So stoked I found this guy. He’s living my dream and full of ideas. He’s a true ideas man.
Love your channel man. Not just this vid but most I’ve watched from you, no BS straight to the point.
I have been running supapeg awnings on my 4wd and they made me a custom awning with side walls , zips, windows for my camper trailer. 4 years on, still have no issues what’s so ever after, rain, wind , salt and massive 100mm down pours. You will have this for ever. With the cost, worth it..... the like of Drifts, Patriot and Lifestyle campers use Supapeg. All Australian made companies. Good by good vid...
👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Miss your videos. They were always fun to watch, sights of WA and how outstanding the videography was.
Hope all is good for you mate. From Washington PNW.
I just watched a camper awning installation, and I loved it!
The 16 individuals who gave this video a thumbs down have brain damage, it was a good review and if you're really interested in it and want to see and know more you could have just subscribed to see more of it and learn.
Some people really are strange.
Good review, and yeah it's good to be compact for plenty of reasons.
probably the purveyors of a competing brand.
👍👍Yep have had two Supapeg awnings on the Suzuki GV. First one a Stand Ezy ERV 2x2.5m (5yrs and still in as-new nick after alot of use). Most recently have got the RapidWing4 which wraps around, covering the boot/rear of the 4by, awesome!!! 🙌 Great to see some Qldr gear making it to WA. PS the zip-on walls (have 2 of them) are fantastic for the extra protection they provide too😊
The supa peg stuff is quality. I've got a Drifta awning, which uses supa peg poles and hinges, that works great.
A1 review again mate 🍻
Have a Supapeg awning as well and pegs, great gear I highly recommend their products.
Thanks again for your vid. Love your product reviews 👍
@10:00 I did something very similar to my ARB 2500 Touring awning to keep the water from pooling in the center. I just purchased a bunch of extra poles to have on hand and modified one to have the spear tip on both ends. Then drilled appropriate sized holes in the awning frame both on the mounted side and the standing side where I just slip the spear tip in and tighten the pole up. To add to this, I slip a foot long piece of thick pool noodle over that center pole and it pushes the awning fabric upwards slightly to keep it taught and pool free. Works like charm in heavy rain.
Mate love ya vids. You’re a legend! That’s one hell of a rig you’ve built
I had a Subaru Outback AWD with a 3mx2.5m awning on it. With a 50mm lift kit, roof rack and steel basket, the awning mounted on top, there was enough room to walk under the awning without cracking my head. The Subi could get in to most places any 'propper' 4wd could go and was excellent on the beach. It only weighed 1800kg with a load so floated over the sand, run rings around all your heavy tanks with all the fancy gear. Didnt need traks cos it didnt get bogged so badly.
They always pick on the Subie's until that awkward moment when they're buried up to their door handles in a bog and the Subie's just sail on past.
They go mighty quiet when that happens. :P
Great honest down to earth review. Keep up the great work awesome video.
Awesome setup, have faith in your yourself. Great vids.
Loving your vids more every day. Keep up the good work.
Your smile is somehow both infectious, and unnerving. Thumbs up.
Great review. Keep up the great work mate. Love your style.
Nice review. My mate has a Supa Peg awning and he loves it. Keep up the great vids.
I'm looking at buying an awning from these guys and came across your video again. Miss your content mate, there are other good 4x4 channels but none of them seem as genuine as yours was. I hope you are having a great time not having to worry about filming everything.
Evan Walters I’m exactly the same, discovered his channel about a week after buying my first ever 4WD, this vid was the first one I saw and then a few weeks later I saw his video saying he was leaving CZcams, I was devastated but so happy for him at the same time if that’s what he wanted to do. Your passion should never become a chore. Anyways, finally ordered my awning this afternoon and it’s thanks to him that I went a SupaPeg awning.
@@scubareuben I ended up getting one too. He should get a commission. :)
Very informative as usual. Keep up the great work mate. Cheers
Great attention to vid production quality, love your work!!
Great camera angles and editing! 👍
Great video mate, keep up the good work :)
Great review, you've swayed me to this brand!
What a neat awning, would love one of those for my Forester ;-)
Had a good giggle at this one, thanks Linzi! Go the forrester! 👍🙂
Your videos are really well done. Good work..
Great choice of awning
I have 3 superpeg awnings and you will not be disappointed
All Aussie made
All parts if they ever fail are replaceable and would only be an issue if awning is not treated with care and set up with posts pegged to ground and on my awnings they can unless really bad weather be secured by the foot being pegged only so far without any issues
I have also supercenter awnings and yes there cheap but not in the same class as superpeg gear
You will have a lot of years out of the awning for sure
Two thumbs up for the 180° SupaPeg awning, wicked bit of gear. Thorough walk through!
One spiritual thumbs down for talking down Subaru Foresters 😁
Looks like a good product. I couldn't help but laugh when you wondered why the install went so smoothly, obviously you usually have similar experiences to me when doing this sort of work :)
Mate I think your videos are
Awesome I was thinking about this awning but wasn’t to sure but after watching your video I will probably go for one of these. 👍 thanks mate
Looks good mate I went the batwing with the sides so good for camping! Keep up the vids
Great review and thx for sharing mate.
Thanks for your sharing. Happy camping and hi from Indonesia 🤗
Nice review, added the supapeg 270 to my list now.
Great video mate :) with every man and his dog buying 270deg awning's, it's a nice change to see a 180deg one like yours. Cheers, Don (Dons Shed and Xplor Overland)
another great vid mate,i am going to check the supa peg awning out for myself,a thumbs up bro
Excellent explanation. Great review.
cool vid, turn the bracket upside down if you want the awning flush with your tray man (y)
Great review legend 😀
Cool video, thanks!
Awesome stuff!
Another great review. Thanks
Well you sold me on it I'm going to have to buy one👌
This guys classic great vid he’s made for tv!
“And we’ll be Mickey Mouse”! Love it. Another good video
The awning seems to fit your car really well and appears to be a really well thought out product. The light weight is a feature imho. I made a custom awning for my suzuki and also found the aluminium supa-peg poles to be good quality.
Love my Supapeg bloody awesome product!
Great review! Kudos
Thanks - checked out the supapeg site, the other awnings looked like they would only work on the passenger side, so perhaps this one was your only choice. Your reviews are excellent Michael.
Love your content, subscribed last week and had a binge on your videos [ totally awesome ] . I have had one of these awnings for over a year and they are amazing but they do have a issue that you did adress, if you do not peg down the legs straight away and the wind picks up, especially by yourself the awning will flip over on itself and snap the black plastic support brackets that fit into the poles supported from the vehicle. order yourself a few spares ;) . Apart from that awesome bit of kit and thanks for your videos.
Oh i should say, for metal pegs the orange plastic hammer is really good as a coffee been grinder.
Looking forward to the 1 year follow-up for this!
Great review!
Looking good mate
Awesome review.
Thanks for the review, though I’d like to have seen the pack up.
We have a small business and love your shirts and jumpers, was wondering where you get them made and keep making your videos we love watching them and wait for them to come out.🙂
So many of your reviews have been so helpful so thanks. Is that the Captain's Wing awning you have there?
Good review, thx.
Cheers
Enjoy all he’s videos he helped me a lot setting up my four-wheel-drive
Great review thanks
Looks good 👍🏻
Great review
Haha I was here looking for an awning for my Subaru Forester and you called me out haha.
Great videos mate, and good to see a fellow Perth lad getting out and about.
I've had a Polaris awning for 14yrs and it has a curved central bar as standard,so nothing new about that,14oz canvas and zip on sides and front to make a full annex or enlarge the shade area. Made in Brisbane ,cost $1100 back then and has outlasted many of my friends awnings by yrs. Look am up,you won't be disappointed.
Another Aussie made one. Will look into it. I was buying similar to this from SupaRV as they were Australian made. Will have a look at the Polaris products. Thanks.
The reason you'd want one on your forester is so that you can relax in the afternoon sun at that night's campsite while you wait for the rest of your friends to catch up :P
such a good review
Cool video 👍
The owning is a good investment if you do a lot of camping and off road driving. And regardless it has its practicality to make life more enjoyable. Enjoyed the video, cheers.
Hi Michael,
Very timely demonstration/introduction of this awning for me.
I have a 1996 Subaru Outback wagon that I used for my 2018 Ghan Sojourn (Coffs Harbour to Darwin via the Ghan, then back down through Adelaide, VIC Silo Art Trail, NSW Riverina, Sydney & home. 2 3/4 months 11,600 kms of which over 600 was corrugated dirt. So if I am able to 'twist their arm' I'm hoping for a 1700 or 1800 cm version for the left side, where the 'fridge is (rear left passenger seat folded down). Then same side in the back two 'Coles' flat-pack black crates with cooking/dried food etcs. Right side is made-up bed. Rear luggae area has a homemade cover consisting of two angle alum rails stretching a black anti-skid holey matt. The fold-up table lives on top of that. Other rails underside of inner roof lining hold the rolled up mozzie magnetic curtain (sticks over left door window areas using rare earth magnet corners & double-width 'fridge magnet' strips. The other side hold a chair & tripod. 20 L water jerrycan left inside corner, empty 20L petrol jerrycan R corner. When holding petrol it lives in a HD garden black plastic bag with plastic tie to make it airtight. Just in case it fumes a bit. Last year it had petrol from just before Woomera all the way to Wilpena Pound, via William Creek (Oodnadatta track). No fumes.
I may however just go for a standard Left side awning 2x2 if possible. The fuel filler is on the right side so this would be best. I need to sort out with them how to mount this to the standard Subaru rail, or go to a flat roofrack. As I'm also looking at your demonstrated 100W solar panel, with a 75 Ahr deep cycle, dc dc charger etc, the flat roofrack could help. But I'd want it easily removeable for car cleaning etc.
Michael I really enjoy and appreciate your various videos. Taking me places I can no longer go, as well as almost-forgotten places I've travelled in another life. Sigh
The smiling assassin. You'd better take his word for it!
Beautiful country you have there. It seems Australians get all the cool camping gear.
Constent smile love it
Awesome...... I need one one then. We just use tarps on our channel about Truck Camping on a Budget. But that would work so much better. 👍
Howdy.
Love the Awning the 1 really important piece of information missing is the weight I know a lot of people out there either have no clue or just don't care about weight well that is until they get caught for being over weight of haven accident for which over weight is attributed to the accident & they loose their insurance, me I'm paranoid about my weight i've been weighed several times in NSW & twice in Vic all by the roads authorities
Hey mate great video been looking at awnings an you have sold me on Supa peg brand for sure awesome hey just found on You tube love all your hints for 4wd Adventure trips mate .. ( ;-))
Great vidio bro
Great video mate, your such a tease with all the shirts and hoodie!! When you going to post a link to the merchandise?
Thanks for the video, just ordered an awning using the link for my Forester - na I’m joking, it’s a transporter.
Really like the Superpeg awning for many reasons. Great review and demonstration. How long is your Canopy ? Also were do you sell your tea shirts? Thanks
Stroooth ... no sticker .. wooow .. great vid.. it was bigger than ben hur ...😁
I need this...a 270 wont work for my setup. Rad man thanx
loved it.
Thanks for the great review. Where is the place you went to for the overnighter? Looks great. I’m in Perth too!
How can we get hands on merch?
Great video and definitely a good awning to help my decisions
Thank you for this informative video. How high should the awning be to clear the canopy door? Can you use the curved cross bar when the canopy door is open?
Did this mounting method on my ocam rack with my rhino rack sunseeker. Broke the mesh within a month. Would recommend you mount very differently.
Awesome review mate. Just wondering if you have an aerial pic of it?
Bent my 1st supa peg at karri valley camping ground lol
Rock solid ground
Hey mate nice video!
Where did you get the table that clips on to the canopy?
Super cute
Another great Video. Just wondering how long does it take to pack up ? That is critical when you are packing up in rain.
there all made well the supa peg gear worth the extra coins
spend once and enjoy
Another great video, you could make an instructional knitting video and I'd watch it. I have an original Foxwing awning I picked up second hand 5 years ago, it's done cape York and Fraser Island and everywhere in between. I expect it will last forever.
Update. Some lowlife stole it off my roof rack that remained on the side of the road after I rolled my Pajero in outback Queensland, on my way to WA. Spewing
Awesome!
I'm most impressed by the fact that you managed to climb in and out of your kitchen without injuring yourself 😂😂
