    Yo this made it way easier. Bought 2 extra clamps to help hold the new tire in place while flipping the bead round the rim. The last time i tried changing it i had to physically rip the tire apart to pull it off in gross sticky bits. This time i changed it in like 40 min including the dissassembling and reassembling of the scooter. Holy shit. Thank you

  • @progeologist7808
    @progeologist7808 Před 8 měsíci +4

    I just changed my tire today, with the help of this video. I drove my scooter for around 2000 miles, so the scooter is more "used" than the one in the video. Took me around 4 hours, here are some comments:
    - home Depot apparently does not have security trox screwdrivers. So you probably have to order them online.
    - unplugging the three colored cables was a huge mess. One went really well, for the other two I had to break the mount.
    - removing the tire was even messier. My original tire exploded, so everything was sticky. Sturdy tools help, but ultimately you need brute force.
    - I put non-phenomic solid rubber tires on it, which was the worst part. They have to boil and then you either wear gloves and don't have sufficient feeling, or you burn your hands and knees. Again, iron bike tools help, but force is required as well.
    So ultimately, dissembling the tire from the frame is the easiest part (which is why I start to understand why they don't care about this too much). It's doable, but takes long and requires good tools and strength. The wheel has a bunch of scratches now though....

      @Zeberka767 Před 3 měsíci

      What have you noticed is the difference in terms of ride quality between the non-pneumatic (solid) tires that you put on verses the pneumatic tires that the scooter originally came with?

    • @progeologist7808
      @progeologist7808 Před 3 měsíci

      Honestly, not a big difference. Maybe a bit bumpier, but certainly doable. You have to watch out for the electrical contacts (i.e. make sure they are clean and tight together). After I put them together, everything vibrated to a degree that my controller died. I had to go to a shop and had my controller replaced. Since then, it's running flawlessly though (so in my opinion, what you read on Reddit about solid tires is wrong - if you attach them properly, they work fine).
      To sum up: the ride experience is similar, even a bit faster, slightly bumpier, but watch out for the contacts/connectors.

  • @JamesFaction
    @JamesFaction Před 9 měsíci +7

    really, this is the best how-to for changing the rear tyre and it tells you to waste your time opening up the whole scooter to unplug the motor. I got the old tyre off and the new one on easily with the motor on the short cord still connected to the scooter. Easily. The extra care and time needed to avoid damage to that cable is negligible. A plumber's wrench, a cable tie, some blocks of wood and some tyre irons were all that was needed.
    Getting the new tyre onto the bead was the most time-consuming part of the job tbh.

    Took me 6 Hrs to get the old tyre off, clean the rim since the self repairing punture gel spred all over. Had to cut off the tyre since it was already damaged.The cleaning took me another 3-4Hrs with turpentine. What a messy way to start your weeken. Had to get extra tools to get the new tyre on. 2 questions for anyone who can answer ……1) I bought an auctioned off scooter which was donated by police probably from being impounded to long. The red and black wire on rear wheel are cut ….why would they need to do this ? 2) the rear tire is possibly buckled, is that even possible with this tyre ?

    This is not as easy as he makes it. I didnt have his tool so I used a flathead screwdriver. The wheel didnt set in place when I pumped air into it, so I took it back off and put some white lithium grease on the rim and tried again and it worked. Took me 2 days and alot of mess. But it worked. God bless.

  • @Wavelover33
    @Wavelover33 Před 10 měsíci +2

    It’s actually pretty simple. I’d recommend replacing the torque bolts that hold the big under base battery cover with m4 Allen heads. The hardest bit is getting the tire to “snap” into the bead of the rim. Lubricate it then blow it up to about 80psi and it might “snap”. I had to go to 100psi which I’m sure is quite dangerous. But basically if you’ve ever changed a bike tire this is pretty simple

      i had a puncture after 50km, had the scooter for 3 weeks. i cant believe it. Now i'm faced with this huge freakin problem. looks like theres no way to change a tube without pulling through the motor wiring, what a bitch. might as well just put solid tire on it while im at it or tubeless. Cant believe i got this pinch flat. it must have been poorly installed valve placement at factory and got pinched or motor heat blew the hole, its right above where the valve is on the rim. i can just imagine this brilliant engineering where a straight valve is basically tilted to come out on the side of the rim, this would mean as it inflates the edge of the valve patch will get crushed into the rim, vs flat straight up on a reg bike rim. Should have gone for the solid tire scooter, my instinct was right...

Flat tire? No problem. I can fix it on the spot in 10 minutes. Bicycle shops? Everywhere. No battery or electric motor's to break. I would never recommend anyone buy a scooter. I just changed the rear wheel tyre. You know what ? I don’t think that thing ever had a puncture. I don’t see it. There’s so much tar inside that wheel and the rubber is so thick I just don’t see it happening. I think the tubeless tyre let go one side of the rim that’s all. Go to the garage, use a high pressure air line that fits the valve properly and blow the thing back up again. Those tubeless tyres need a high flow of air immediately to seal. Give it a go first, don’t use a foot pump. Unknown to me I think the air pressure dropped too low and the seal broke.

      I wish I had read this comment before, been trying to use a foot pump for weeks and the sealant started leaking and I’m now wondering if it has a puncture or no. Don’t think NYC potholes help keeping the air inside of it either.

Put clear Labels on the steering column saying "tire pressure check twice a month 55LB) and with this model G30P & include a schrader valve extension and tire gauge. Charge $15 more and save unnecessary tire problems. People get frustrated with a tire change, and will buy another brand.

I saw some other comments about throwing the scooter away because this seems to difficult or too time consuming 😂 If anyone has experience changing out pit bike tires (10 - 14 inch), you know what I mean. This is a walk in the park when compared. As for the cover screws, just take one down to your local hardware store and find a hex/allen equivalent. I've slowly started changing all the screws out on all 4 of scooters.

      definitely don't buy this scooter! it's overpriced compared to more powerful stuff around these days. It really is a slow turtle with a high price tag. Sometimes I don't even lock mine up in public because I don't care if it gets stolen. It has a bad back tire which is why I am here, the battery is starting to die after 4000+km usage. No suspension, dorky looking, only does 30km/hr on flat until it gets below 80% battery then it starts slowing you down to 25km/hr, super boring.

      It's a pretty decent scooter, much more durable than Hiboy that my friend has, but changing rear tire is a nightmare! Mine had wires covered in some hard foam, so you can't disconnect them and inside the tire was tar (sealant?), so it gets really messy. Buying the entire assembly or using repair shop seems the only option

    Thanks for the instructions, but my experience replacing rear tires on Ninebot Max G30P bought in the US in 2022 was quite different. The wire connectors to unattach the wheel were covered in some hard foam, so you could only break and crack them and your tire inside looked very clean while my had a lot of tar in it, presumably a sealant, so it all got super messy after disassembly. I now think I should buy the entire rear wheel assembly if I'm only able to disconnect the wires without ruining the connectors. May need to use tape to hold them together after the installation

    • @nicholassimmons9706
      @nicholassimmons9706 Před 11 měsíci

      The rear wheel assembly? That includes a hub motor. That's a major part of the scooter. Needing to replace an entire wheel/ motor assembly because replacing the tire is just too gawdamn idiotically complicated is a major design flaw. What, people are supposed to drive a hundred miles to a scooter repair shop? Luckily we got ours for basically free. I would never pay for something this complicated to repair for what it's functionality is. I can ride a bicycle faster than the top speed on the G30P. 18 km/h? I can maintain 20 mph on flat ground on a bicycle that is 4X cheaper to buy and that I can fix a tire on myself in 10 minutes with nothing but a tire lever and patch kit that cost 5$ together. And if anything is beyond my ability to repair there is a bike shop on every street corner basically. Scooters are dumb as hell. Someone really wants the e-mobility; buy an e-bike. If the battery fails it just become a bicycle...and replacing the tire won't be a nightmare.

    Ok i did this process for the first time using the CST tire, exact replacement since scooter unboxed. This is an exercise in overcoming adversity .. I learned i have to follow these video instructions steps exactly. I mean Exactly. Especially the clamps.. Type "C" old fashioned steel Clamps with screw type lever do not work. I'm in Arizona. The lever type clamps in the video with wider clamping footprint worked for me. I used 300lb dewalt plastic pistol grip clamps. Do not cheap out on this. But must be the similar type he used in video. For my handtool ratchet screwdriver the T15 security bit is at ACE hardware and also the 2.5mm bit. Amazon for Dr Roc tire spoons are wonderful, their tire spoon leverage kit includes rim protectors and extra short rubber tire valves as a bonus . No damage to rim using these tools, and they have good grips. Dishsoap & water mix 20%/80% necessary. Cleanup of the rim removing black tar self sealant I used WD40 Industrial De-greaser, it easily removed the black TAR . Wore protective chemical resistant gloves most of the time. I used a portable work table with removable legs. Husky brand..the type you can saw wood on then store easily..but very sturdy. Must buy a schrader air valve extension at least 2 inches or more...do not use power drills. Use only hand tools like ratcheting screw driver. Power tools can damage threads & screws for sure. This is a excellent video if you follow the steps. I used no tire tube. I don't do this for a living if I had to do this again it will probably take me 4-5 hours if I already had the tools necessary. I did have a helper my son age 24. Im age 61 yrs old. You might attempt this re-tire job without disconnecting wires to see how it goes. Don't put stress /tension on those wires or you will "break" a connector, then you are screwed. Wile working on the table, the heavy tire & rim fell off of my table a few times. I had planned for this accidental drop of the wheel and placed an upside down small box to "catch" the tire /wheel if it did fall off the table. So fortunately the empty box did cushion the fall. If I had left the wires connected, it may have broken a wire as that tire & rim are heavy. These are my own opinions & experience of having done this ONE time and after watching MoovMoov video. After finishing, no scratches on my rim. So the tire spoons did not damage them. I also fix my own Toyota & Lexus vehicles.
    Last Notes: I had difficulty getting tire beads to seat. I used a mix of dish soap and water. It took me removing the schrader valve stem, and a strong quick blast of air using an air compressor with a 5 gallon tank. The air valve was a air blast adapter with a 5 inch air tube adapter, the air tube was very narrow and
    fit down in the hole of the schrader valve (removed valve stem). I acquired that at Harbor Freight. Some people might tighten a rope or strap around the tire circumference & squeeze it with a stick or long screw driver.

    • @whatsuphelp
      @whatsuphelp Před 9 měsíci +2

      @@PapaHealthygamer I have found the perfect solution for me, now tire change only takes 5 to 30 min. You NEED 3x Heavy Duty Clamp (red/black like he is using in this video) and work yourself from bottom to the top like shown @16:00. After the tire is on spray some soapy water on the sides and start pumping it up. You will see where the air is escaping on the side through the bubbles. Take a little spoon. Use it as a tyer lever for the sides. Just stick it where the air is escaping push the tire upwards and pull it back to you. So the tire will close the gap where the air is leaking. Start pumping it up again and check if air is leaking, repeat with spoon to close gaps.
