    I fixed mine tonight it was the swing relay on the fuse block. I changed it out and its now electric starting and charging. Problem solved thanks for the help.

      firehydrant404 Is that the blue colored relay block next to the fuses?

      lisantica Yes it is, It is like a Turquois Color blue= same as the blue color on the "reply" button. All parts and fuses or whatever can be found on bike bandit dot com. Thanks for watching.

      DIOSpeedDemon Is replacing that Turquois relay what helped you to be able to have both of the black relays in at the same time? I have that problem where one of them has to be out for the bike to run.

    dont need to take off floor to change plug. there is a small access panel next to the gas filler cap - thats all you need to remove, no tools required other than a sparkplug wrench.

    I watched to get info on my BIG Ruckus. This is not the BIG Ruckus (PS250 ).
    this is the little red ruckus 50cc.

      sdanville I honestly did not know there was anything larger than a 50cc Ruckus. I have never seen or heard of a 250. I guess I learn something new every day. R

      sdanville I have never seen anything larger than 50cc Ruckus for sale in all the Honda shops I have been in. It must cost like how the hell much, 5 grand??

      I have a 250 BIG Ruckus. It's been sitting for a while and won't start. My friend is trying to repair it but would like to know where the carburetor is. But I'm wondering if it might be the battery. It is a 2006 and clicks when you turn the key. It has not been ridden for a couple of years. It's been sitting out, covered but hot and cold with the temperature. My first thought was the carburetor was dirty from old gas. but he wants to take off as little stuff as possible (less chance to loose little parts) to find the engine. Can't find this scooter even on Honda's website. Think I will get a new battery anyway as that would be an easy fix. But in case that doesn't fix it, WHERE'S the engine?? Hope you can help. Thanks for reading.

      THe engine is under the seat and you have to take off the seat, undercover and a mile of vacuum hoses. Replace the battery and see what happens, sounds like a worn out battery.

    Hey dude - first off thanks for these videos. They are super informative and you do a good job at explaining things so that a novice like me can easily follow along to. I am having some issues with a Ruckus I recently purchased and have no idea what is wrong with it. Some background: It's a 2010 that has been sitting for two years before I got it. It needed a new fuel pump so I went ahead and replaced that. It also needed a new battery, as the old one was dead. However now when I go to start it I get a loud, fast clicking coming directly from the starter relay. If you put your finger on it you can even feel it vibrating. I thought that replacing the starter relay with a new one would solve the problem but it did not. One other thing to note - whenever I turn the key to "on" all of the electronics flash on and then immediately off. I also can't kickstart the bike bc there's no fuel in the engine and absolutely no compression whatsoever. I've ordered a new power relay that should be here in a few days, but I'm not too hopeful that it will fix whatever is wrong. I'm at a lost at this point, what do you suggest? I saw in a comment you mention cleaning the magnetos, do you think that would help?

      Check out my Complete Ruckus Rebuild Series that I think has like 250 videos start to finish, czcams.com/video/G1pnMEpyjmI/video.html -this will explain some electrical problems. No Compression is not a good thing and could mean bad rings, shot cylinder. That is total rebuild time and bike bandit has all the parts. buy a service manual on ebay and let me know the progress. The Honda ruckus engine design is worth its weight in gold. The one I rebuilt had like 23,000 miles on a 50 cent piece sized piston and the motor just needed to be freshened up. Thanks for the kind words. RH

      @DIOSpeedDemon  Před 6 lety

      The clicking sound you here in the relay means only one thing, usually- a low battery or a dead battery. The relay takes the 12 volt system voltage and Clicks on to send the full battery to the magneto starter. CHarge the battery, BUT NEVER with the battery attached to the bike. You will fry your ruckus computer brain on the right side of the steering arm and that is 350$ to replace. A ruckus is worth it to rebuild . To me the are kinda ugly with no plastics on them, but I would buy one because of the quality and reliability. RH

      Look at the whole ruckus video series to get a better feel for the inner working of your bike. A service manual is needed and remember to get the right year for your bike. Ruckus engine build 1, was for the first like 5 years and then the engineers made small changes to the engine for better effiency. Ruckus build 2 engines are in later models and is an improvement in design. Hope it helps , Randy

      Hey man - Thank you so much for the reply. I watched all of the engine rebuild videos and they have helped me a lot when it comes to familiarizing myself with the Ruckus; It can be pretty daunting but now I'm more confident.
      The battery is brand new, and I put it on the charger and it's definitely got power. The new Power Relay is coming in tomorrow so I'll report back when I install it. I'm pretty sure the ECU is bad, but I got the bike for extremely cheap so I'm not too pissed that it will be an expensive part to replace.
      I'd love to be able to check the stator magneto, unfortunately I don't have the right facilities to begin a job such as that. Working out in grass under the hot sun and getting eaten alive by mosquitos can only be tolerable for so long! haha!

      no

    I believe that's a service-free battery, and would've shipped filled with acid. Interestingly, it may have left the factory that way... whoops!

  • @firehydrant404
    @firehydrant404 Před 10 lety

    What did you find that was the problem on this one? Also you worked on an orange ruckus but can't find where you actually showed what the problem with it was either?

    • @DIOSpeedDemon
      @DIOSpeedDemon  Před 10 lety +1

      This is what the problem in both bikes was. The bikes were years old for one and ridden for a long time. The starter on these bike is basically the mageto that acts two ways, 1- it generates electricity for the bike. 2- Applying current to the magneto at the starter switch, reverses the current in the magneto and causes it to turn the crank , thus starting the motor. THE PROBLEM WAS= Both magnetos, over the years, acquired a fine film of dust on the coils, which prevented electricity to properly charge between the stationarly magneto and MAGNETS. Think about it- How many times does someone take the flywheel off the magneto to clean it?? Almost never. Once I cleaned the 2 millimeters of fine encrusted dust off the magneto, the starter worked good as new. This is the problem and a common one in Ruckus that has been used for years. There is no protocol for cleaning the magneto an IT DOES COLLECT DUST. Problem solved. I am a genius and the customer was very happy. Thanks for asking that great question, RH DSD

      I've got a ruckus, how do I prevent this from happening? O_o

    • @DIOSpeedDemon
      @DIOSpeedDemon  Před 9 lety

      ***** What you need to do , once every three or four years, is to take the cover cases off the magneto and use and air gun and blow the hell out of the magneto and coil windings. fine dust eventually will cause the starter to no work , due to the coil or magneto cannot connect to the starter switch due to dust. I blew the dust off the magnetos and the starters worked perfect. one bike had 17,000 miles and the other had 24,000 miles. Dust builds up over time , just like around your computer and computer screen due to electro magnetism. Same problem with the ruckus starter over time. ALSO =oil will cause the same problem on the magneto, IF there is enough of it, like a small leak from the engine case itself onto the starting components. R

    if i were you i would completely trash that fancy shmanchy starter system and install a simple and conventional starting motor from a motor somewhat like that one
    just my opinion, may not work, but i would investigate
