  • What are the causes of Melasma, and what can we do to treat and maintain results?
Join Anna Pare', MD & Michelle Juneau, MD - Board Certified Dermatologists - of Dermatology Consultants - as they share pearls on recognizing triggers, how to treat, prevent, and maintain results post treatment.
"Why a trigger causes melasma in some people but not others isn’t entirely clear. We do know that some people have a higher risk of developing melasma." - explains the ‪@AADskin‬
Research suggest that you may have a greater risk of experiencing melasma if :
    * You are a female between the ages of 20 and 40: Melasma is much more common in females than males. Hormone changes being the main trigger.
    ( Pregnancy Mask )
    * Have a medium or dark skin tone: Melasma develops more frequently in these skin tones than in lighter skin tones. You’re more likely to develop melasma if you are a woman of Latin, Asian, Black, or Native American heritage.
    * Have a blood relative who has melasma: Several studies have found that patients with melasma often have one or more blood relative(s) who also had melasma.
A few of our go to treatment options for patients are:
    * Chemical Peels - Specific to addressing melasma - ‪@vipeel‬ - Precision Plus - being one that has given patients positive resolve. This medium-depth peel works to suppress melanogenesis (production of melanin-at the source) while promoting rapid cell turnover for more even and bright skin tone. Resurfacing action reveals brighter, renewed skin for results in 7 days.
    * Moxi by ‪@Sciton‬ - This treatment minimizes the appearance of pore size, improves tone and texture and brightens skin overall. Treating with Moxi can minimize the appearance of age spots. Those who are faced with the challenges of melasma know, there is no cure for the condition. However, Moxi is a highly beneficial treatment to reduce hyperpigmentation, minimizing the appearance of melasma.
    * SylFirm X - Micro-needling with radio-frequency. Sylfirm X is the only RF micro-needling technology in the world that can address hard-to-treat skin conditions, such as rosacea and melasma.
‪@InStyle‬ Magazine suggest that "Sylfirm X May Be One of the Best Treatments for Melasma On the Market"
