I once read a Korean article that said the BTS sound is pretty much Jungkook sound and I agree. JK is quite literally the vocal backbone of BTS. He balances out the difference in tones of other members because he has the range and the ability to control his voice/tone and hold those differences together. He just has a way with his voice that work so well in harmony with others and that's why his harmonization always works. That is not to discredit other members but I believe without Jungkook the vocal structure of BTS songs suffers greatly since he basically operates as the vocal foundation of their songs. At the same time, like many people have said, since Jungkook uses his vocal talent to befit the group songs and hold the structure together, he doesn't get to show off his voice much; which is why his covers/solo songs attract so much attention because people get to hear various vocal styles from him that they didn't expect before. And like many people have said I don't think even JK himself realizes the depth of his potential. He is the main vocalist for a reason (many reasons actually).
Absolutely, he has a huge task in vocals of the group, it's a big job, he was always busy with the team no time to quite his own songs . Vocals, performance, choreography

A good singer is someone who can sing But an excellent singer is someone who can sing and storytell the lyrics/emotions the way they're supposed to be without exaggerating them too much or lacking in delivery. And Jeon Jungkook fits this balance beautifully. He’s always taking different approaches with each song, you can always tell he really thought it through with the way his voice comes out and how he uses different tones for different lyrics and expressions. Most of the time bts songs doesn’t let him show his full potential tbh. Since he can easily slide up and down with his range, they almost always use him like a bridge between tae’s deep tone and jin&jimin’s high tone. Because of that, he doesn’t always gets to show the highlights in his voice in their music. ( like his ability of doing high notes or his rich lower register, or his actual voice tone that has a little bit of rasp). That’s why i can’t wait for his solo album. He has so much to offer in terms of vocals.
I agree with your observations. I suspect he is not the BTS member Bighits envissioned to excel. But he just shines without even trying. JK is so gifted he seems unaware of it and even is sometimes shy when praised about it. He is such a sweetheart. I adore this boy. Yes, waiting eagerly for his solo album.♥️

I was watching their BoyWithLove performance when I heard from nowhere the adlibs and harmony and asked myself, “Who is that? I seem to be hearing just one person doing all the adlibs and the harmonies!” True enough, it was Jeon Jungkook.
What I love about him is that, he is happy working on the background. He does the adlibs and harmonies without the intention of standing out (But he stands out to me). He’s a great singer and performer!

it's the way Jungkook’s voice keeps your ear engaged the whole time. His rich tone, how he easily delivers different textures, his subtle & hot vocal fry and slides, his iconic breathy offsets, the flawless & addictive diction of words, his voice all over..You can always count on their main vocalist to smooth over the entire song with his sweet tone and bring needed cohesion. As that Weverse article about his vocals pointed out, Jungkook really ties bts songs together with his vocal ability to blend and harmonize without overshadowing. Also Jungkook is the main pop boy but he also owns rnb and jazz. His vocals, his timber, his runs are perfect for those genres as well, my time and swy are perfect examples, he has the most beautiful soft, breathy, emotive voice for ballads, he also can do rock as shown by the jungle cover. I literally can’t wait for his solo album. He has so much more potential in his vocals to showcase.

He's an outstanding singer! Since he appears to be an introvert, I believe as he continues with this solo career, his confidence will builds and his full potential will show. Thank you so much for this updated clip! Jungkook is inarguably one of the best vocalists in this generation. He got everything, not only his golden voice but also amazing technique, but most importantly, Jungkook can express/deliver different type of emotions perfectly by using different singing voices. That's the reason why I can listen to his song over and over again without getting tired of them. He is THE BEST, really! I can't wait for his solo album. It will be MASSIVE!

True to the core. He even sings covers like it's his own song. The original artists have even complimented him. Very versatile yet distinct in each song he sings. And his singing never wavers. Never heard any Korean singer who can trill his notes like Jeon Jungkook.

Jungkook's versatility, his adlibs is what sets him apart. Being a member of such a big boyband renders them under heavy scrutinity and him being a major part of the vocal line you can rarely catch him slip and that's such an amazing feat in itself. Jungkook is so damn cool
