      Only just beginning to. The videos from the makers are very energetic and full of info. But they're a bit over my head. This is the first video not from them that I've watched about PP and I find it way easier to understand. Thank you. I hope to watch more of them and follow along as I did in this one. Maybe someday it will be a more useful app and I'll be able to use it rather than rely on a friend who has it. I have also subscribed to your channel after watching just this one video.

    This app is a must have. I first got turned onto it while watching Nigel Danson's channel. Its funny how the app maker warns you about getting overwhelmed with the information it is capable of providing. I need to go back through your videos to see but if you haven't already, it would be cool to see some street photography of Haiti.

    • @DavidJohnstonPhoto
      @DavidJohnstonPhoto  Před 6 lety +1

      Thanks for watching man! I haven't done a whole lot of street photos of Haiti as there are some cultural qualms about that. Culturally they aren't too fond of cameras if they don't know you, so I try and respect that as much as possible. There will be a lot more landscape treks in Haiti in the future though!

    • @dajael
      @dajael Před 6 lety

      Doh!!! Can't beleive I forgot that. I have over 50 Haitian men that work with me and they are never too keen on cameras on them. I've been told that they (not all but some) believe that a camera (or picture of them) can steal or impede their soul or spirit. No worries...I totally understand and respect that you are thoughtful of their beliefs/culture.

    This App is truly a swiss army knife for landscape photographers. You've got Exposure calculator for ND filters, equivalent focal lengths, field of view, hyperfocal distance and other stuff as well in there. And you can put a pin which throws a shadow in the planner and whatnot.

      Indeed. Fortunately, the developers were so kind and implemented an extra tutorial section.
      Oh, and I've got a question which unfortunately doesn't relate to the content of this video, but: I'm considering to start doing landscape photography videos on CZcams, too. You know, the kind where I walk around and filming me explaining where I hike and so on. Now my question is, should I do this in English or in my native language? The advantage of doing it in my native language is, that I can handle it better than English (Or at least I hope so), doing it in English on the other hand could reach more people... and maybe I'd improve my speaking skills. Reading and writing are somewhat okay, but I spoke English just rarely since I left school (That was nine years ago). I'm aware that you might not give me a definite advice about that, but I'd like to hear (or read) your thougths about it.

    • @DavidJohnstonPhoto
      @DavidJohnstonPhoto  Před 6 lety +1

      I’ll give any advice you want! The question is, what is your native language and is that the audience you are wanting to reach? Or is an English speaking audience one you want to reach?

    • @udoderunformige1250
      @udoderunformige1250 Před 6 lety

      @@DavidJohnstonPhoto My native language is German. Well, I guess I don't know yet if I want to reach a German or English speaking audience. We Germans are well-known for complaining about everything. 🤣 But as far as I can tell, the German photography community is quite relaxed most of the time. At least on these channels which I subscribed to.

    I completely agree with you. I just got back from a trip to the Ozark mountains>. Because of poor planning on my part, and being out of shape, I missed my prime opportunities for getting the shots I planned. But, it was a great scouting trip for future shoots.
    BTW, do you have a good way to keep lenses from fogging? I kept my camera gear out in the car. But, it was close to the dew point (69F, about 99% humidity). No matter how quickly I wiped my lenses, they still fogged up.

    • @DavidJohnstonPhoto
      @DavidJohnstonPhoto  Před 6 lety +1

      Thanks for watching, Tim! Usually I'll keep my camera out of my bag and with with lens cap off for about an hour before I start shooting to prevent fogging. It's all about regulating the temperature of your gear to match your environment. That being said, I've also forgotten to do just that and didn't get a good shot due to fogging.
