One of the things I truly love about this movie is that despite how devastating and sad and painful it is to know that they never ended up together, it’s an example that just because something doesn’t work out doesn’t mean it was a waste of time. This song reminds me of a sensation. Your eyes lock for the first time. You notice their smile. You get a flutter in your chest. You start talking and that's when it starts. You notice yourself smiling when you think about them, when they're around you feel comfort and ease. You start to allow yourself to be vulnerable with them. You feel safe, loved. Walls you spent years building are dropping effortlessly. You realize you're not perfect and neither are they but God the way they make you feel just being around them is. Then life happens. Takes me back to when I went to Tennessee with my family to flee from Hurricane Irma in 2017. Me and my parents were separated as I spent my time in Tennessee at my older friends house while they received hospitality at another family friends house. Anyways, my friend’s house is built on a hill, and the area he lives in (I believe it was Powell, right outside of Knoxville) there was little to no light in the area. It was my first night at his house when I first saw La La Land. This score and also the piece titled “planetarium” were the ones that stuck out to me the most, so at night I’d stare out my bedroom window and think about life while playing Mia and Seb’s theme and Planetarium quietly in the guest room. As I mentioned before there was little to no lights on in the area so right above me I could see the endless night sky and right below me there was stars too as dozens of fireflies took over the ground. The thoughts that flooded my mind at that moment was loneliness and the desire to be cared for by someone. I have parents and a nice group of friends that care about me, but the kind of care and affection I was looking for couldn’t be provided by them. Im not talking in a lustful manner, I’m talking about a feeling of love towards someone else that is so natural, effortless, and reliable. The feeling I had at that moment was so strong and real to me that it was almost tangible. Dang I wish I had that. I want to dance upon the stars just like Seb and Mia with my other half.
Wrote a short story to this song: “Why?” my voice barely audible, I’m pinned down to the floor, his hands on my wrists, his eyes burning into mine. I feel something wet run down my forehead to my chin, I’m bleeding I realize. His expression was numb, visible dirt on his forehead and cheek. “WHY?!” I croak out a scream, my tears fresh on my skin. “You killed my people,they were innocent, they had families.” I gasp out, “war, isn’t pretty.” he said. “At what cost.” I stare at him, feeling my body starting to shut down, black clouds my vision, I force myself awake. “My grandfather” he breathed, “this, this is what he wanted. THIS KINGDOM WAS NEVER YOURS” he screamed. He released his hands from my wrists, dropping his body next to mine, I let out a breath of relief. I look at the destruction around us, gravel and dirt are everywhere from the fighting. The castle has gone to waste. I was raised here, born here, learned to speak, to write, to walk here. I cry out in pain, feeling the weight of the dagger in my abdomen. I won’t last much longer. I turn to look at him “This kingdom will never submit to you. Ever.” I spoke. I saw the small puncture wound in his side, I did that. After years of Kingdoms fighting one another, he finally did it. He brought the war to the inlands. The amount of lives lost, the amount of destruction. “I am their Queen. And you, you are nothing.” I muttered. His soft chuckle enraged me, I sat up, cursing from the pain. A fresh set of tears prickled my eyes, “I’ll miss you, you know.” he states “I loved you. After everything, I thought you’d be better than this.” I say, swiping at the tears that broke loose. He turns my head to face him, he brings his lips to mine in the faintest touch. I knew now that this was goodbye. My consciousness falling in and out, I lean my body against his not wanting to be alone. “I will never stop loving you, no matter how much I might hate it,” I cough up blood but continue, “don’t leave me.” I sigh. “I’m not leaving you, not now, not ever. I love you with everything in me. This will haunt my days, till the end of time.” he whispered. I feel my heart starting to slow, my body going cold. I let the tears that were threatening to fall, go. My whole body feels heavy, I close my eyes, listening to the beat of his heart, listening to the sound of his breathing. As I fall into oblivion, I hear the faintest sound, I realize he’s screaming. I let myself go, in his hands, in his warmth. Hope you like it, feelin kinda proud of this one ❤

I’ve fallen in love with a junior boy and I’m a hs senior graduating in a month. We’ve grown to know eachother since January through our musical production and we’ve shared alot with eachother. He’s pretty, smart, humble, respectful, funny, passionate, talented, honest, and so wonderful to be with. A few days after our closing night last week, I worked up every ounce of courage to ask him to my prom and so said yes instantly. He was so so happy. And I’m pretty sure he likes me too. I’m so excited we still get to see eachother in the hallways at least a couple more times and spend plenty of other times hanging out, but I don’t want it to ever end. I want to get to know him more and more because we haven’t had enough time. I’m planning on going to Wagner and he wants to go to Princeton. It’ll be another year that he’s in highschool, and he may end up finding some other girl to fall in love with while we get less and less opportunities to see eachother. I don’t think I’m ready to date him yet, and he and I both have the ideal that dating in hs isn’t ideal so that we can focus on our studies and goals. I just wish to God I had met him sooner, had had a fee years to make him become the special person he to me, have more memories, more hugs, laughs, and tears. I hope to God we can maintain our friendship and relationship, but I know distance has a way of separating those that love one another. He said Wagner’s one of his safety schools, but I doubt he’d ever actually go there. I know there’ll be a day where, eventually, our relationship will fizzle and we’ll only be fond memories in eachother’s hearts. I just wish it didn’t have to be so fucking soon. I wish I could tell him how I feel. I think we already know by now, but I wish we were both seniors. So we could have watch eachother grow and have fallen more deeply in love. POV: Went to Tijuana today for tacos. On the walk back across the border I was stopped by two gentlemen who looked how this song feels. One asked after handing me a piece of paper if I could tell him how to get to that address... the address was to a location in Oregon. I looked up at him after finding this out and said, “friend, you’re in a completely different state, this is California.” He then tells me that his other friends left for Washington and him and his companion need to get to that address by bus. I wrote down three more addresses for him. One for the cheapest motel I could find close by, one for the greyhound bus station, and the other for was for a location in Oregon. He told me they were headed to find work in Idaho... I couldn’t bear to tell him he was not going to Idaho. He started his 0.9 mile walk to the Motel 6... the look in his eyes when he thanked me endlessly is how this song feels. I watched him and his friend march up the street, headed for a motel... POV: Went to Tijuana today for tacos. On the walk back across the border I was stopped by two gentlemen who looked how this song feels.
One asked after handing me a piece of paper if I could tell him how to get to that address... the address was to a location in Oregon. I looked up at him after finding this out and said, “friend, you’re in a completely different state, this is California.”
He then tells me that his other friends left for Washington and him and his companion need to get to that address by bus. I wrote down three more addresses for him. One for the cheapest motel I could find close by, one for the greyhound bus station, and the other for was for a location in Oregon.
He told me they were headed to find work in Idaho... I couldn’t bear to tell him he was not going to Idaho.
He started his 0.9 mile walk to the Motel 6... the look in his eyes when he thanked me endlessly is how this song feels.
I watched him and his friend march up the street, headed for a motel... I’ll wonder how they faired for the rest of my life... that’s how this song feels
