  • On Monday, July 8th, a United Airlines Boeing 757-200 took off just after 07:15 and lost a tire upon departure. The 757, however, did not return to LAX but instead went ahead with its flight to Denver. Upon reaching its destination, the aircraft landed safely after a flight of one hour and 55 minutes. There were no injuries to the passengers onboard or anyone on the ground.

    That 757 involved in loosing its wheel was actually originally owned by Continental (pre-United merger), hence it was powered by RB211, not PW2000

      Correct. Any 757 left at UA are PM CO. The original UA 757's were retired years ago now.

    N14107 was ordered new by Continental and received in 10/94. It is operated by United today. You also show N522UA, which was bought new by United in 1990, and scrapped by them in 2018.

    Torq wrenches are expensive you have to lower your expectations that every wheel will have one used.

    It didn't just lose the tyre, being accurate it lost the whole wheel. Bad maintenance methinks.

    Perhaps this year United may have grown too fast and expand it's network pretty quick than usual. What did you do, United ? I smell maintenance issue.

    • @hughofIreland
      @hughofIreland Před měsícem +2

      No. United hasn’t expanded more rapidly than usual this year. With the delay in aircraft arrival, expansion has slowed down. The carrier has even delayed training new pilots.

    @christainmarks106 Před měsícem +4

    They’re planes are getting very very old. Way past the point in which airlines usually get rid of the plane, but they are opting to keep them because of the long waiting. Period and getting brand new plans from Boeing and airbus.
