Hi, two years ago my husband passed away after several years of very bad health. Heart, kidneys and infections that resulted in amputation. During those years I lived in a state of constant what he called "squirrel" behavior in that I couldn't concentrate on anything else but him. I understand about starting things and then loosing interest. First of all Give yourself a break! He is first. Your family is first not only in your heart and mind but with your energy. I think you are amazing! Thank you for all you teach me. Remember you are amazing. Courage does not always roar, sometimes it is a quiet voice saying "I will try tomorrow"

Listening to worship music helps me. My daughter had an 11 pound germ cell tumor, her blood pressure was 210/168 and her pulse was 136. She was in renal failure, anemic and a lot of other problems. She had to be transferred to another hospital for emergency surgery. She was 26 and I was homeschooling my 9 year old son. My older son lived down the road with his girlfriend and her little girl. The doctor said had we not gotten her to the ER when we did she wouldn’t be here today. They removed her tumor, left ovary, appendix and lymph nodes. When she came home from the hospital I had to take my mom to the ER. She was 86, lived with us so I could help take care of her. We found out she had a mini stroke and she had some breast lumps. A few days later I had to take my husband to the ER. He was diagnosed with diabetes and asthmatic bronchitis. Then we had to drive to Charleston to declare bankruptcy. Mark does construction and that’s when the economy crashed. He just had odd jobs but, not enough to pay our bills. Then Marks engine blew in the truck. He had to purchase a clunker so he could still work. We found out Heather had to have 3 rounds of chemo and my mom had to have radiation. One was in Savannah, GA and the other one had to go to Hilton Head. Facebook was wonderful!! I had someone taking my mom or Heather while I took the other one. Someone picked up Brandon for co-op and watched him until I got home. People gave us gas cards, made meals, cleaned my house and gave us money. It was ALL God!!!! Heather almost died 3 times from her chemo and the tumor but, the Lord was good. They both were cancer free in August of 2012. My mom passed away in 2014 but, she had a good life. Heather still has a ton of after effects from the chemo and she’s had about 23 surgeries since 2012. She can’t work but, always has a smile on her face. The bankruptcy is complete and Mark is doing well. He’s got more construction jobs than he can handle. I thank the good Lord for getting us through that difficult time. I’ll be praying for you and your family.

I think these ephemera journals are genius. Oh so handy. I love your chats! I chat back with you! That probably makes me weird, but whatever. We totally understand that you need to take care of your family, just don't forget to take care of yourself. I know from experience how taxing constant nursing is. I'm glad your husband got a good report. I know that at this point that's only partly reassuring, as you live with the worry that something will happen again. As to what to do when your designing mojo is absent from the scene, do just what you're doing. Just mindlessly making components. Then you'll have them ready to go when you do feel like getting back to it. Put on a movie, or an audiobook, or some music, and just let your mind rest! It's amazing what you can get done while not even thinking about it. I'm sending best wishes to you and yours, and you take care. Thanks for sharing, even when it's a struggle.

Bless you heart !! When my Husband was battling cancer and we knew it was terminal I stopped doing any sort of crafting. I couldn't concentrate on anything other than him and our kids. After he passed it took 2 years for me, thanks to our kids , 20s at the time, telling me I needed to get back to doing what my Husband loved to see what I'd created and fed my soul. Boy that was long winded, but all that to say you are not alone in not being able to concentrate and finish anything. When your heart is all over the map with feelings, please give yourself grace and do what makes you happiest!! Much love to you and your family. Prayers lifted for you all !!

Treasure every moment. My husband was diagnosed with a rare degenerative neurological disease for which there was no treatment or cure. I cared for him for almost nine years with the help of my daughter. Even knowing that it was a terminal illness I was unprepared when he simply fell over into my lap and was gone. People reminded me to care for myself during that time but I, like you, was so focused on him and his needs that I forgot about myself. Please take time for yourself. It has been a year since he passed and some days grief still hits. Every day he said, "The best is yet ahead and I can't wait to be there" so we didn't wish him back for his sake but some days are hard. Scrapbooking and crafts, which comes and goes for me, does help--just to accomplish something is wonderful. I enjoyed your video and your chat as today has been one of those hard days.

Oh, no, I hadn't heard about Brandon - my prayers are with him and Melina and their family. And I continue to pray for your and Whitt's continued improving health. Thanks for showing us how to cover this folder! I so enjoy your videos, E, and look forward to them. In the past I haven''t commented a lot on peoples' videos. I told myself I didn't have time, as I rushed from one video to the next. But the truth is, I just didn't take the time or I just didn't feel like expressing my feelings. So now I know how much it means to everyone, I'm taking the time. It may not always be a long comment (like this one!). I've always "written a book" my sister says, and I need to remember, a few words go a long way! Have a good week! Love, Donna

So glad your husband is doing better. Listening to your husband's story is so reminiscent of my husband's story. One step at a time is how you do it and what you are going through can be so overwhelming. I find if I do little easy mass making sorts of things that I get something accomplished and begin to feel productive and then my mojo gradually returns. My husband had a virus attack his heart and was on the heart transplant list for fifteen years. While he was initially being evaluated for a transplant over Labor Day weekend (the same night that Princess Diana died), he suffered a massive stroke. While he mostly fully recovered from the stroke, I believe that is why he never did get a transplant. I was lucky enough to have him for fifteen years after his stroke and he has been gone over six years now. Continued prayers for you and your family. TFS the inspiration!

Even though you’re still filled with concern for Whitt and having troubles concentrating on 1 project at a time, it’s great to hear you giggle again. Hang in there, take it one day at a time. You’re doing great! ❤️❤️. When I get into a funk and have troubles with the type of crafting I’ve been working on for awhile, I sometimes turn to my old crafting projects. I have been crocheting since I taught myself in 1979. A couple of years ago I began learning how to do loom knitting. I also like to paint things too. I also love reading. If I get myself into a book, sometimes I’ll have my nose stuck into it for many hours. When the pocket book Roots came out, I started reading right after supper and finished the book at 5:00 a.m. the next morning! 😊

So glad to hear how things are going. It's hard to get back to normal after a serious incident. It's like you have been in the fight and flight mode and it is very hard to let go, and relax and get back to feeling like doing anything else. Doing these little videos and talking to all your friends who have been praying so hard for Whitt's recovery is a great thing to do right now. (Talking to friends that never interrupt you, lol.😉) You will gradually be back to normal soon.
I have been trying some of the file folder things like the folded over ones with all the ephemera in them. Also several other things. Take care and know that I will keep praying for you all. I love listening to you talking and can hear in your voice as you relax and go with the flow.

So glad your hubby is doing better. It is so scary when there is nothing we can do to help. My Hubby got sick 8 years ago and a year later his kidneys quit working and he went on dialysis. We had to move to be close to our Son and Hubby goes to dialysis 3 days a week. It has been hard to get my creative juices going and I finally just decided I needed to try and get back to it. Crafting has always been my Happy Place, but I understand your feelings of needing to be there when a family member is sick. I hope you can get back to your Happy Place with crafting. Maybe just cut back for awhile? You and your family will be in my prayers. Stay safe and take care of yourself sweet crafty friend. Big HUGS and keep smilin!

About motivation, sometimes nothing motivates me! But if I am motivatable, I do some kind of craft. I quilt, journal, make ephemera, and this past week started slow stitching, so I’m on that kick right now. I, too, love watching a LOT of CZcams sisters craft. Ya know, Psalm 46 says God is our refuge and strength. About a year ago while reading my Bible during one of those “funk” times, I was led also to verse 10 where He says, “Be still and know that I am God.” That’s a hard one for someone who is a “fixer” and I have a feeling that, like me, you’re a fixer. So I have to just get under the shadow of His wings, be still and let Him be my refuge and strength, trusting He is THE Fixer and will make all things work out for my good and His glory. In fact, I pretty much daily have to remind myself that He is Lord and since He did create the whole universe from nothing, He can handle all of my anxieties and funks. I’m sure you know every bit of this more than I do. I guess maybe even at nearly 73 I needed to remind myself tonight by reminding you - if that makes sense. 😉 I know you’re taking care of Whitt. Remember, since he depends on you, you have to take care of yourself, too. Thank you so much for sharing a part of your life. Sharing hard times as well as the good times is what makes good friends. Praying for your family and sending big hugs to you all. 🥰

While it may seem strange to some, those of us who are pretty much shut in do rely a lot on youtube and we do feel like we get to know the hosts as friends because you add so much to our lives and we're with you more than our own families right now. I, for one, and I know I'm not alone, do worry when one of my youtube friends is having problems, even though we don't really know each other from Adam. And I think that is such a wonderful thing in these times of strife that so many of us can feel compassion for those we don't really know but perceive as friends. I love that, despite what the network news would have us believe, there truly is a lot of empathy for our fellow humans. Not everyone is at each other's throats. And I feel that the crafting community is especially warm and caring and supporting of one another. If the world were filled with crafters what a wonderful world it would be! Also, at this point, I do still tune in for tips and tutelage, but just as much for the camaraderie and time spent "together", no matter what the craft. So, you just do what makes you calm and happy and we'll be there, answering you out loud when you ask "should I do this or this?". You said at the beginning that you feel like you've done a whole lot of nothing, but to me you've made a bunch of great components, ready to go when the will returns. This is what we jewelry makers do, too, when we're stalled. Just sit and rather mindlessly and relaxedly make components while we watch videos or listen to an audiobook or whatever. Before you know it you've got a slew of components to put together an entire project or more. Presto change-o! Thanks so much for sharing your time. So glad Whitt is doing better. Continued prayers sent your way.

Whenever I feel down or life gets in the way - my teenage daughter self harms ☹️ - I organise my craft stuff - I don’t necessarily make anything but sorting and re-discovering my things is very therapeutic- it seems the same for you too - you seemed much more relaxed by the end of the video - sending hugs from Sunderland uk 🇬🇧

HI Julie, Dorothy here in Canada born in Sunderland St Lukes Rd. I do the same thing as you. My daughter passed away last year and now I have 2 Teenagers living with me. I don't find I want to actually craft, but I do get in my craft room and tidy up but never seem to have the MOJO to make anything. My teenage Granddaughter is now wanting piercings and tattoo's so I am also going through a rough time.

Stay strong! There is strength in your family. Lean on them. When I am having a hard time I try to stay goal oriented. What is it I am trying to accomplish? Seeing my dad come out of the hospital? Getting through kidney stone troubles? Helping my sister with distance learning? If I keep my end goal in mind it’s easier for me to stay strong and focus. When I reach the goal then I can relax and process everything that happened.

If you didn't want to be with your family in hard times, you wouldn't be the Godly woman that you are and the woman everyone has come to love. WOW I adore your butterfly book that you are creating. I love all the assortment of butterflies you have such beautiful colors. If talking helps then you just go for it because I love to listen. Listening to you helps me so you see it’s a win, win situation. Let’s see when I get in my funk of course crafting and sewing takes my mind off of everything that is going on in my life. But it’s very hard for me to go in my craft room and get started. I really have to just push myself but once I do I’m happy I did. Then there is other times I just watch a good movie or I’ll start reading my bible which is extremely good therapy for me or I’ll just go outside and l’ll work in my yard if the weather permits. I just find what ever I choose to keep my mind off of things is great for me. The more time I have for me to worry the worse it is because I just send myself to a depressed state. And I have to work even harder to get myself out of my funk. Remember my dear friend the devil loves it when you worry so be brave and strong so you can prove him wrong and always know that God has your back because he loves you so much and you are his child. You got this girl friend. You are more stronger than you give yourself credit for. My prayers will continue to be with you and your loving family. Stay sweet and don’t never loose your charm. 😘💕 Ed
