Even in Gen Z the term Kpop is commonly known for what it is and you might get the BTS and Blackpink like people know they are groups but they are unfamiliar with the members. In the West it is super uncommon to be a group
And in the US it's super common for people to like bands and not know a single member. It might have been different if Blackpink as a whole had been there, but Rosé by herself? Not surprising.
if you brought someone who had never seen/heard of taylor swift before to stand there and wait, then they'd ask the same thing... it is impossible for everyone on earth to know one person - sure they could be popular but that popularity rarely ever reaches more than millions. Rose is popular and important to the kpop industry and to the fans of her and her group so i don't think anything should really be questioned ㅜㅜ
That's because some people don't listens to k pop the same can be said about other genres. You can't expect someone to know her solely because she's famous. So of course not everyone is going to know who she is if they don't follow that particular genre. The only person in my opinion that completely contradicts my statement is Michael Jackson.
My grandma dont even know who micale jackson is but that dosent make him less popular or nugu he is still legend same goes for other country artists or geners
ROSE' has more Instagram followers than any other Kpop star other than her own Blackpink members. Her latest campaign for Tiffany & CO caused everything she wore to be sold out in minutes. I would be surprised that fans who were obsessed with Taylor Swift would recognize any Kpop star. I HATE ranking artists as each have their own beauty. Van Gogh sold only one painting in his whole life and that only because his brother felt sorry for him and convinced a friend to buy one. Haters always find a reason to ridicule Idols. Rose' is sweet, kind, and has such a gentle soul. Those who know Rose' understand these things. To not know Rose' is their loss.
No one's loss. 😂 Some people have taste. Your Rose can't even dance properly to be called a dancer. And she's imitating Shakira voice awfully that make her sound like a goat. Her vocal techniques are not even a singer material like Ariana, Pink, Jessie J and others. A lot of new fans who attended their concerts witnessed how unprofessional and uncoordinated they are on stage. A disrespect to those who paid the tickets. Meanwhile Taylor Swift, despite being a legend and a household name, gives her everything in her concerts. No "I'm tired" excuses. Also, everyone know that kpop fanbase like Blinks are bloating their following by making bots and fake accounts. So who cares about being the most followed when you don't have talent to back it up.
I mean obviously, not everyone has to know who a kpop idol is right?! Knetz really need to sit down, not everyone worship kpop idols *EDIT* : Some people really need to chill out. One of them was wearing a freaking Nam-joon shirt the other one had bought one of those round pick it Pictures of V and the other one screamed so loudly. When Jungkook and Jin walked out on the stage. My aunt is in her 40s and she’s a fan of K-pop and she didn’t discover them in tool 2018 when I drive her to take me to a BTS concert and then she’s got into many groups since then such as stray kids twice, TXT la Seraphim. Like not every person who’s into K-pop is a literal teenager or child there are very much so grown ass adults with K-pop. If anything, it’s kind of the equivalent of people who don’t like a certain genre of music like Taylor Swift has her own cult, following and people really can’t sit there and blame them because let’s be real. There are a lot of K-pop fans, especially Baby K-pop fans who genuinely act like there is no other music genre outside of K-pop so I don’t know why sometimes people on the Internet are surprised when there are artists like Taylor Swift, or even Beyoncé that has fans that act like there’s no other genre of music or other artist that exist in the world outside of those artists not everyone’s like that, but I’m not quite a few Taylor Swift fans who genuinely act like there’s no other musical artist that exist except for Taylor Swift people get like that sometimes it’s weird and normally you hope that they grow out of it especially if they’re younger, but it does happen.

And in the US it's super common for people to like bands and not know a single member. It might have been different if Blackpink as a whole had been there, but Rosé by herself? Not surprising.
BTS is the most popular k pop in America but I don't think half of America ppl doesn't know about BTS ... BP aren't popular in America
This is in us at another artiats event. You cant expect locals to know someone from a different music sphere and country entirely yall
if you brought someone who had never seen/heard of taylor swift before to stand there and wait, then they'd ask the same thing... it is impossible for everyone on earth to know one person - sure they could be popular but that popularity rarely ever reaches more than millions.

But still Tay is bigger than your Rosie
I mean obviously, not everyone has to know who a kpop idol is right?! Knetz really need to sit down, not everyone worship kpop idols

Ofc it's taylor's event, what did yall expected 💀
Theres honestly no need to have people crowd around you to be popular + the audience was the western audience who probably only knew taylor

I'm not a blackpink fan but a kpop fan so just random question who even are these netizens who are so free that all they do is start controveries 🙂
It’s often just one person and then all these videos are made so people just like us will comment on them.
All the cameras and paparazzi are focused on Rosé and just because ONE PERSON who is a 50 year old mother who has never listened to k-pop asks "who is that" doesn't mean Rosé isn't popular. Rosé is very popular all over the world and a very famous k-pop idol. By the way, this event was Taylor's and those who came went to see her. Not everyone has to know all the famous people, for example my parents and my sisters don't know who Taylor Swift is.
You know K-pop is still fairly small on the West right? And you know older people like k-pop too right? You know lots of parents like K-pop right? If everyone else knew why wasn't anyone cheering like usual? It's a Taylor Swift concert, not a k-pop concert, not everyone will know her
Idk what kind of happiness y'all get by calling her old lady that too in her 50s , ugh just move on not even 20s teen might know her and so what ? Y'all seek attention so bad

And then you remember Met Gala, the biggest event, where everyone there was screaming for Rosé. Or the VMAs where the paps kept calling her name only out of all the members. You cannot doubt the popularity of this woman who keeps having so many album sales despite being 2 years of released and the one who can sell out anything she endorses. And come on, this is US, it is very hard to make it big there. Rosé is more popular in Asia.
No netizen is talking about this though except some K-pop fandoms and BP solo stans. This was so long ago and nobody was expecting Rosé to be there so her fans weren't waiting for her. Instead netizens are demanding RS2, and people won't ask for it if she wasn't popular.
Netizens can't expect everyone to know their favorites. In fact, I've read about how some celebs will go on vacation in countries where they're not well known so that no one will bother them.
Damn that sounds so peacefull I always think about that too about celebrities
Bruh why are kpop fans shocked ?? Like for goodness sake they are in America where even big groups like BP ARE FROM A DIFFERENT COUNTRY AND DIFFERENT CONTINENT and still not one of the biggest genre there in the United States. And they don’t know how they look like either. It’s a bunch of locals too who don’t even know what kpop is probably unless you mention BTS since that’s what the majority of all locals know. Additionally they are there for Taylor not rose. The roles would be switched if Taylor was in Korea.
Yeah people don’t know anyone but Taylor swift where I live… a miserable existence

Rosé would be fine being soloist, she has great number in SK while fought against IU and that trot guy, her album is the only one that constiniously sold for 100K on this year alone after 2 years. Her merchandise is always the fastest one sold out. She might be not the one famous on IG follower but she got lot of loyal n royal fans plus hater that curious about her career

Not gonna lie, Rosè probably was really happy that people didn’t scream for her or try and get as close as possible and leave almost no room for her to walk since she has to deal with that whenever she’s at the airport or something. I don’t feel like people were being rude when they said this I’m assuming they were joking about it at it because yes, wall K-pop isn’t super popular in the last groups like BTS and BLACKPINK you cannot get away from I have family members. Do not listen to K-pop, but no exactly who the fuck those two groups are but yeah, she wouldn’t know who those members are individually.
Also, people who are stating that that lady sounds older of course she would know what K-pop is can people stop saying that? Like can people stop assuming that everyone who’s into K-pop is like a literal fucking child or Hella young like that is not how that works K-pop stands for Korean Pop music they’re going to Delta like Pop music I have gone through several K-pop concert one of my first K-pop concerts of winter in America what is a BTS concert in 2018 and I had a group of old ladies sitting in front of me, I’m talking women who are in their 60s Who are fan of BTS and they were Asian ladies. It was a black lady in a white lady and a Spanish lady who are all friends and all knew who BTS were in like the music and they had their biases.
In america, in a Taylor swift event, some woman in her 40s.
