    I suggest using isolated copper tubing, something like styrofoam covering the bottom of the copper tubing underneeth the metal plate, and some rubber around the under edge of the plate, where it touches the sink absin. It would hold the cold a lot better, giving you quicker freezing ice cream, and less of an energy loss. But an great project never the less

  • @SomaElectricals
    @SomaElectricals Před 4 lety +16

    you should insulate the freezing tubing with PUF. if u don't insulate there will be huge ice pile and lot of water dripping on the floor and machine

    With a defrost valve or a reversing solenoid you could briefly heat the plate to make scraping it off easier.

    Don’t think that making the ice cream rolls is as easy as others make out it to be, all about the angle of attack when removing it from the steel plate. But you made a very good video on how to make this machine, it was useful to recycle used parts 😉👍

    Exelente quedó la máquina. Tan solo deberías cubrir el espiral serpentín con laminas de poliestireno expandido formando un cajón para el. esto con el fin de optimizar la temperatura le ayudaría mucho a mantener el frío este material es buen aislante termico. Felicidades por el proyecto.

    Looks like an impressive build but it would have an extremely high power consumption, insulating the bottom of the coil and insulating the plate from the sink would probably cut power consumption in half...

    Insulation will go a long way to making this thing more efficient, but at the end of the day it is nothing more than an ice cream mixing/reshaping/making?cold plate. This is usable, but i would think it wiser to have the cold side run around a stainless steel cylinder and have a hard foodgrade plastic spiral paddle scraper scrape the internal radius of the pipe and make ice cream faster that way from premixed or custom milkshake mix, while keeping the cold plate so one can custom shape the ice cream to fit in your desired serving containers.
    Also, this device won't be portable unless you have a generator or mains AC power to run it.
    For people attempting to do the same thing, you need everything to be in good working order, and refrigerant compatible with the compressor as well as a means to get air out of the system/lines e.g. vacuum pump - otherwise the compressor will not last long. There are better ways to mold the cooling coil, and it would be best to put the output of the metering tube (small narrow copper line) right at the place you want to freeze cold, plus several layers of airtight insulation to keep moisture out completely from the coils and prevent frost buildup.
